  • Patent number: 8463424
Abstract: A method of displaying a map on a wireless communications device includes steps of determining a current position of the wireless communications device, determining address information corresponding to the current position of the wireless communications device, and presenting the address information to a user of the device. The address information can be displayed onscreen as a pair of odd and even numbers representing the street addresses on each side of the street at the current position of the device. The street addresses can be determined by interpolating the address from an address range for the path segment along which the device is traveling. Alternatively, where specific addresses have been stored in association with coordinates, the closest address can be determined. This technology facilitates navigation by presenting street numbers corresponding to the real-time position of the device.

  • Patent number: 8457776
Abstract: The invention relates to a method and a system for material transport, whereby at least one mobile transport means is detected by means of a detection device, comprising a radar or laser detecting device. Position coordinates, position angles and speed of the transport means are determined by means of a reference coordinate system and transmitted to a stationary data processing device. A central material tracking with verification of storage location is generated by means of the data processing device, whereby, particularly with use of the positing angle, the storage type for the material can be automatically determined. Operator input for the complete description of the material storage is not necessary.

  • Patent number: 8428770
Abstract: Each load-carrier of a system is always controlled by one of a series of MCUs (monitoring and control units) that are assigned to contiguous regions along guideways. Each carrier is slowed down to maintain a safe distance behind a carrier ahead, or to avoid collision with another carrier when approaching a merge point of a convergent Y-junction or when otherwise desirable. Distance measurements take into account the lengths of carriers and of assigned regions and the counts of speed pulses sent to MCUs since entry of carriers into their respective regions. For merge control, arrival data are developed that include the times and speeds to and at arrival of two carriers at a merge point. Through repeated comparisons of arrival data developed from one carrier with arrival data previously developed and stored as to the other carrier, the one carrier is gradually slowed down as necessary to avoid a collision.

It is determined that a double transfer of the medium to the media tray occurs when the calculated difference is larger than a predetermined threshold value.

Abstract: A method for controlling and coordinating the operation of a lifting device and a tongs device in removing and disassembling and/or installing and assembling a series of elongate members disposed within a wellbore involves sequentially sensing the presence of a series of joints and automatically triggering the lifting device and tongs device in response thereto. In some examples, the method senses the location of an upper joint to determine when the lifting device should begin decelerating prior to stopping the ascent of a lower joint at a target elevation. In some examples, the method includes control means for automatically skipping various joints.

Abstract: A system and method for automated piezoelectric sensor-based tactile sorting of plurality of small objects. A high accuracy, high precision delivery system targets the sensor which accounts for softness and mass of individual objects by measuring a force exerted and total contact time for each object upon passing contact with a sensing surface of a piezo sensor, wherein a plurality of objects cascade onto the sensor in one-by-one fashion. The quantified force and contact time values are then analyzed and compared against two threshold values or a range of threshold values which are predetermined and preset based on data from optimal objects and undesirable objects or possibly a spectrum of objects which has been analyzed and recorded to assist in calibrating the system.
