Abstract: A system and method is disclosed for contextual processing of data objects in a multi-dimensional information space. The system can be used to increase the efficiency and improve the interactive experience for the user of a GUI-based operating system or application.

Abstract: A system and a method create metadata for media files. The metadata may be information relating to, based on and/or associated with the media files. The metadata of the media files may be searched by one or more terminals. An event database connectable to a terminal may use a location, a date and/or a time of creation of the media files to associate specific events with the media files. Further, the specific events may be used by the database to create keywords associated with the media files. As a result, the system and the method may organize and/or may provide searching for media files. A web page may be generated for an event that accumulates the media files related to the event.

Abstract: A search engine system is described herein that provides an alternative data path for collecting results provided by index servers. The alternative data path collects the results in a direct and asynchronous manner; this is in contrast to a synchronous path used to deliver search results to end users via one or more aggregator modules. An analysis system can use the alternative data path to collect a large amount of richly descriptive information regarding the performance of the search engine system, circumventing bottlenecks and other constraints that would otherwise be imposed by the synchronous data path. The analysis system can analyze the information collected from the index servers to improve the performance of the search engine system.

Abstract: A system and method include creating a full backup copy of selected data from a storage device. A series of incremental backups are created over time following the creation of the full backup copy. The oldest incremental backup is merged into the full backup at a desired time.

Abstract: Apparatuses, methods, and computer readable medium for quality control checking of electronic prescriptions. The method including receiving an electronic prescription; determining whether or not the electronic prescription meets a quality standard for each of a plurality of quality issues and marking a scorecard to indicate whether or not the electronic prescription meets the quality standard for each of the plurality of quality issues; and if the scorecard indicates the electronic prescription meets a minimum quality standard then forwarding the electronic prescription for fulfillment, otherwise if the scorecard indicates the electronic prescription does not meet a minimum quality standard forwarding the electronic prescription for review.

Abstract: A user may select a profile to serve as an active profile on a device, and content objects associated with the active profile may be stored on the device responsive to the selection. Content objects that are not associated with the active profile may be transferred to one or more additional devices based on a prioritization scheme. Content object download operations may take advantage of the prioritization scheme to determine a storage device for a downloaded content object.

Abstract: An exemplary system includes an element server in a video hub office configured to provide a media signal to a content processing device located at a customer premises and at least one computing device remote from the video hub office and the customer premises. The computing device comprises a first data store that includes a plurality of presentation elements, a second data store that includes information concerning associations of the presentation elements with a chunk that is a logical grouping of the presentation elements, and an element management subsystem that provides the presentation elements associated with the chunk to the element server in the video hub office, the element server configured to cache the presentation elements for use by the element server in fulfilling a request from the content processing device, wherein the computing device provides a user interface that presents information about the presentation elements associated with the chunk.

Abstract: In one implementation, the information available in social networking services is leveraged by a customer service agent. Recent social media posts by customers may be accessed by a call center server either at the time of a customer service request or ahead of time. If the customer has provided any information in the social media posts related to why the customer is calling in, the customer service agent can save valuable time that is usually spent finding the source of the problem. The call center server includes a communication interface operable to receive a customer service request including a customer identity and a controller configured to query at sources of social media postings based on the customer identity. The call center server may transmit the social media postings to a device for displaying the social media postings to the customer service agent.

Abstract: A record of an event is received in a common format. The record includes a time of the event, a type of the event, and an identity of a device that created the record in the common format using an event creation module selected based on the type of the event. A collection of records including the received record is managed, and a portion of the collection of records is provided in response to a user request. The portion is configured to be sorted according to user-configurable criteria and includes records with a plurality of types.

Abstract: A method performed by a device includes detecting a first condition to generate a report record associated with the device; generating the report record associated with the device, in response to detecting the first condition, where generating the report record includes recording environment conditions associated with the device, recording device conditions associated with the device, and recording signal conditions associated with the device; detecting a second condition to send the generated report record to a server device; and sending the generated report record to the server device, in response to detecting the second condition.

Abstract: A method for tracking metrics, goals and personal accomplishments may include receiving, by a processing device, each electronic message tagged by the employee as a personal accomplishment. The method may also include storing each tagged electronic message, by the processing device, in a database associate with a personal accomplishments tracking system. The method may additionally include providing, by the processing device, each tagged electronic message to the employee for sorting and analysis.

Abstract: Within a content item set, particular content items may be identified as trending, based on changes in a frequency of references to the content items. For example, users of a social network may reference web resources by posting the uniform resource locators (URLs) thereof in messages, and trending web resources may be identified by detecting changes in the frequencies of such references. These trends may be tracked by counting such references in content item histograms, and by computing trend scores at the time of detecting each reference to a content item. Trending content items may then be identified at a second time by comparing the trend scores after decaying the trend scores of respective content items, based on the period between the second time and the last reference time of the last detected reference to the content item.

Abstract: An exemplary process includes storing telephone numbers in a telephone number database, identifying which telephone numbers in the telephone number database have digits that occur in an alphabetic pattern as defined by a reference list, and designating the telephone numbers with digits occurring in the alphabetic pattern as patterned telephone numbers. An exemplary process of identifying alphabetic patterns includes assigning at least one letter in an alphabet to a first digit, assigning at least one other letter in an alphabet to a second digit, accessing a telephone number database storing telephone numbers having a plurality of digits, identifying a letter combination created by at least two digits of at least one of the telephone numbers in the telephone number database, and determining whether the letter combination forms an alphabetic pattern as defined by a reference list.

Abstract: An online article is enhanced by displaying, in association with the article, supplemental content that includes entities that are extracted from the article and/or entities that are related to entities that are extracted from the article. The supplemental content further includes information about each of the entities. The information about an entity may be obtained by searching for the entity in one or more searchable repositories of data. For example, the supplemental content may include, for each entity, video, image, web, and/or news search results. The supplemental content may further include information such as stock quotes, abstracts, maps, scores, and so on. The entities are selected using a variety of analyses and ranking techniques based on contextual factors such as user-specific information, time-sensitive popularity trends, grammatical features, search result quality, and so on. The entities may further be selected for purposes such as generating ad-based revenue.

Abstract: Summaries of entities (e.g., people, places, things, concepts, etc.) may provide additional useful information to user. For example, a search engine may provide a summary of an entity within search results. A category (e.g., “writer”, “politician”, etc.) of the entity that is short and concise may be advantageous to provide within a summary of the entity. The category may allow a user to quickly determine whether the information of the entity relates to the intended entity (e.g., search results of an entity as “a writer” vs. search results of an entity as “a politician”). Potential categories and summary text may be extracted from pre-labeled data. The potential categories and summary text may be intersected to determine a set of candidate categories that may be ranked. An entity category having a desired ranked may be determined as the entity category that describes the entity in a desired way.

Abstract: A system and method for suggesting keywords for tagging a digital image are provided. In general, a requesting node is communicatively coupled to a keyword service via a network. The requesting node sends a request to the keyword service requesting suggested keywords for a digital image. The request includes information relating to the digital image such as positional information. Based on the information, the keyword service generates a list of suggested keywords and provides the list of suggested keywords to the requesting node. At the requesting node, the list of suggested keywords is displayed to a user, and the user selects one or more of the suggested keywords for tagging the digital image.

Abstract: A method comprises selecting at least a first data set and a second data set on which to apply a query. The method also comprises causing generating of a first cursor based and a second cursor based on a first application of the query on the first data set and a second cursor based on a second application of the query on the second data set. A third cursor based on a combination of a result set returned by the first cursor and second cursor is then generated in response to the query.

Abstract: Described is a fast set intersection technology by which sets of elements to be intersected are maintained as partitioned subsets (small groups) in data structures, along with representative values (e.g., one or more hash signatures) representing those subsets. A mathematical operation (e.g., bitwise-AND) on the representative values indicates whether an intersection of range-overlapping subsets will be empty, without having to perform the intersection operation. If so, the intersection operation on those subsets may be skipped, with intersection operations (possibly guided by inverted mappings or using a linear scan) performed only on overlapping subsets that may have one or more intersecting elements.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for plan-based compliance score computation is provided. Compliance-specific target results are stored. The compliance results include, for each target, a subset of target-specific compliance results for a rule subset of compliance rules. Each target-specific compliance result of the result subset includes a compliance value. The compliance value represents compliance to a compliance rule of the rule subset. An execution plan is generated. The execution plan generates data that measures compliance to a first compliance standard. For each target-specific compliance result, an execution plan step is generated for computing the compliance value of the respective compliance rule of the respective target.

Abstract: A log analysis framework is provided that includes a core that is configured to support the execution of one or more extensions and one or more analyzers. The core provides a common infrastructure, base classes, and utilities for supporting the execution of the extensions and the analyzers. Extensions are software components configured to parse a log file and to trigger events based upon the contents of the log file. Analyzers are executable software components configured to consume events generated by the extensions, to analyze the events, and to generate a report based on the events.

Abstract: A system, processor, and method for processing multiple dimension data. A single rectangular data array having a single data port may store a set of data elements representing a multi-dimensional pixel array. A load/store unit may receive the set of data elements and store them divided among a plurality of individually addressable data arrays each having separate address ports. Each individually addressable data array may include at most a single row that stores data elements from a sub-set of the set of data elements representing a multi-dimensional sub-array of the pixel array. A processor may simultaneously access the single row of each of the plurality of individually addressable data arrays by accessing the corresponding respective address ports for each individually addressable data array to retrieve the complete sub-set of data elements in a single computational cycle. An execution unit may execute instruction(s) on the sub-set of data elements.

Abstract: Methods and systems for active image tagging are usable to build large datasets of tagged images by combining manual tagging by a user and automatic tagging by a computing device based on the manual tagging. Such tags may be used to effectively sort, organize, link, and search for images within large datasets of images. Additionally, the active image tagging may be configured to utilize a tagging game where multiple users manually tag images by playing a game on a computing device.

Abstract: Different views on an object that has metadata. For instance, one code segment might have one view of the object and be able to view some of the metadata of that object, while another code segment might have a different view of the object and have a view on a different set of the metadata of that object. This may be done even though the code segments reside in the same application. Thus, each code segment may have a view of the metadata on the object that is most useful for that code segment to use the object without getting confused by metadata that is less or not relevant to the manner in which the code segment is to use the object.

Abstract: Method for the fully modifiable framework distribution of data in a data warehouse taking account of the preliminary etymological separation of said data is based on the framework model of data. It is about the totality of the entity-objects, that relate to a particular abstract domains, is distributed into five groups in an automated way: atomic, composite and weak entity-objects, as well as artifacts i.e. entity-copies the data of which are conventionally placed in warehouse, and a group of indefinite entity-objects, the semantics of which is the subject to further specification. The method provides for the option of replenishment of the algorithms groups and criteria for the separation, each of which allows for a more accurate classification of a particular entity-object to the above-mentioned groups.

Abstract: Embodiments of the invention relate to testing a storage system point-in-time copy of data for consistency. An aspect of the invention includes receiving system and application event information from systems and applications associated with point-in-time copies of data. The system and application event information is associated with each of point-in-time copies of data. At least one point-in-time copy of data is selected for testing. The system and application event information is compared with inconsistency classes to determine tests for testing the point-in-time copy of data. The point-in-time copy of data is tested.

Abstract: Methods, systems, computer readable media, and apparatuses for ranking search results are presented. According to one or more aspects, two or more search results may be ranked based on the extent to which each search result matches at least one search criterion and based on the amount of time that content corresponding to each search result will remain available. Content with less availability time remaining may be ranked higher than content with more availability time remaining. The ranking may also be based on a genre of the content being ranked, and availability may be weighted differently in ranking content of different genres.

Abstract: An annotation suggestion platform is described herein. The annotation suggestion platform may comprise a client and a server, where the client captures a media object and sends the captured object to the server, and the server provides a list of suggested annotations for a user to associate with the captured media object. The user may then select which of the suggested metadata is to be associated or stored with the captured media. In this way, a user may more easily associate metadata with a media object, facilitating the media object's search and retrieval. The server may also provide web page links related to the captured media object. A user interface for the annotation suggestion platform is also described herein, as are optimizations including indexing and tag propagation.

Abstract: Scalable handling of billing events that affect one or more accounts. A computing system partitions received events into a number of channels, perhaps by account identifier. The channels receive the events, and perform de-duplication of the events. This de-duplication may be performed using a Bloom filter that is updated to reflect the receipt of any original event. The Bloom filter may be used to either determine that the event is not a duplicate of another, or to determine that the event cannot be ruled out as being a duplicate of another. In the latter case, further processing may be performed to for definitively determine whether the event is truly a duplication, or in the alternative, the event may be immediately treated as a duplicate.

Abstract: Data objects are related by comparing attributes of data objects that belong to different clusters and determining that the data objects are an approximate match based on the comparison. Data elements corresponding to assignments of an identifier are generated, and the data elements are stored in a grouping.

Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for seamlessly switching media playback between a media broadcast, such as a radio broadcast, and media from a local media library. When an electronic device determines that an upcoming media item in a media broadcast is not of interest to a user, the electronic device can switch playback from the media stream to a media item from the electronic device local library. The selected local media item can be related to a previously broadcast media item to ensure continuity in the user's listening or viewing experience. The electronic device can switch away from the local media item and return to the media stream when the media stream again broadcasts media items or segments of interest to the user.

In one embodiment, the method may include receiving tag configuration information for a tag in a document review system. The method may further include applying the tag configuration information to define a configured tag. The method may further include determining, with a processing device, the applicability of the configured tag to one or more documents. The method may further include applying the configured tag to one or more documents in response to the determination.

Abstract: The present invention provides a Distinct Author Identification System (“DAIS”) for disambiguating data to discern author entities and link or associate authorships with such author entities. The invention provides powerful disambiguation processes applied across one or more databases to yield a disambiguated authority database of authors. An entire database of publications may be processed by the DAIS to group/link authorships and to identify author entities. The author entities may then be matched or associated with actual authors to establish an authority database of authors. After initial evaluation, the DAIS may be used to reevaluate some or all of the database(s) and/or the authority database established by the DAIS may be used to add or update information. DAIS may use “hierarchical clustering” to link authorships and identify authors based on authorship similarity. DAIS evaluates the likelihood that authorships are from the same author.

Abstract: A method of identifying and using side information available to statistical machine translation systems within an enterprise setting, the method including extracting user-specific interaction and non-interaction-based information from at least one corresponding database within the enterprise for each of a plurality of users, aggregating the user-specific interaction and non-interaction based information from a plurality of users, by using a processor on a computer, to tune and adapt background translation and language models, and updating all relevant models within the enterprise after user activity based on the tuned and adapted translation and language models.

Abstract: Embodiments of the invention are generally directed to systems, methods, devices, and machine-readable mediums for implementing gesture-based signature authentication. In one embodiment, a method may involve generating a data protection policy from an un-trusted software environment to govern access to protected data stored in memory in the local computer system. Then the method maps the data protection policy to an enforceable system-level data protection policy managed by an Information Flow and Tracking Protection (IFTP) logic. Next, the method flags the first memory page containing the protected data. Finally, the method enforces the generated data protection policy for the first memory page containing the protected data using the IFTP logic and the enforceable system-level data protection policy.

Abstract: In production applications that process and transfer secure and sensitive customer data, the heap dump files of these applications, which may be useful for debugging production issues and bugs, may contain secure and sensitive information. Thus, to make the useful debugging information available in heap dumps from production applications without compromising secure client data to those assigned to debugging and fixing production issues, these heap dumps may be scrubbed of sensitive information without scrubbing information that is useful for debugging.

Abstract: A building energy and environment information system for buildings and campuses. The invention provides an entirely elective and private incrementally deployed, incrementally modifiable, relatively inexpensive building information system that provides for a range of energy and environmental capabilities including room and building environment sensing (one or more of temperature, humidity, air quality, etc.), statistical processing software, modeling software, analysis software, information visualization software, decision support software, data logging, storage and recall, control arrangements, and interfacing with existing building systems (HVAC, solar, valves, power systems, etc.), external information systems and networks.

Abstract: A system and method for ensuring large and frequent updates to a data warehouse. The process leverages a set of temporary staging tables to track the updates. A set of intermediate steps are performed to accomplish bulk deletions of the outdated changed records, and perform modifications to the map tables for models such as snowflake. Finally, bulk load operations load the updates and insert them into the final dimension tables. The process ensures performance comparable to insertion-only schemes with at most only slight performance degradation. Furthermore, a modified process is applied on the newfact data warehouse dimension model. The process can be readily adapted to handle star schema and other hierarchical data warehouse models.

Abstract: A multicasting authorization system comprises a streaming server, an authorization server, a user system and a distribution server. The distribution server provides a multicast data stream over multicast channels. A user system requests and receives an authorization code from an authorization server to receive the multicast data stream, and provides the authorization code to a streaming server. A streaming server, coupled to both an authorization server and a user system sends start up information for accessing the multicast data stream to the user system upon validation of the authorization code. The multicast datastream is encrypted and the user system maintains a connection with the authorization server which provides a cryptographic key for use in decrypting the encrypted multicast datastream.

Abstract: Rules-based commerce system or marketplace that proactively acquires and purchases, on behalf of consumers, works submitted by creators. In one implementation, the system involves a rules engine which makes current and future purchases of electronic content and code based on the positive fulfillment of specific pre-created criteria. Some particular implementations of the invention can be implemented to create a net of income from a large quantity of sources in order to support one or more social media activities. Other implementations of the invention can be configured to create forms of sponsorship whereby a consumer can create rules to automatically acquire and pay for a future work that meets one or more criteria. On the creator side, implementations of the invention can be configured to assist creators to develop an audience and corresponding income streams to support social media creation activities.

Abstract: A process is disclosed for retrieving information in large heterogeneous data bases, wherein information retrieval through visual querying/browsing is supported by dynamic taxonomies; the process comprises the steps of: initially showing (F1) a complete taxonomy for the retrieval; refining (F2) the retrieval through a selection of subsets of interest, where the refining is performed by selecting concepts in the taxonomy and combining them through boolean operations; showing (F3) a reduced taxonomy for the selected set; and further refining (F4) the retrieval through an iterative execution of the refining and showing steps.

Abstract: A modular framework may be provided for configuration checks that enable a developer to classify and describe each check and then subsequently search for checks and integrate them with other checks. Each check may include a dependency on other checks to create a hierarchy. Additionally, multiple checks may be combined. The combination of checks may be used to check configuration of specific processes or systems. Each check unit and business configuration check may contain keywords, descriptions, and documentation to enable the checks to be subsequently searched and reused in different applications. Systems, methods, and articles of manufacture may be provided.

Abstract: An artificial intelligence video analysis recommendation system and method is provided that allows video viewers to discover new videos and video producers to evaluate the potential success of a new project as well as to understand the perceptual factors beneath audience ratings. The system and method accomplish these tasks by analyzing a database of video in order to identify key similarities between different pieces of video, and then recommends pieces of video to a user depending upon their video preferences. An embodiment enables a user to evaluate a new video's similarity to videos already established as commercially valuable.
