Patent number: 8359417Abstract: A composite input signal having an audio component and a video component is routed from an input to an output by separating a stream of audio data words at an average frequency F1 from the video component and supplying the separated stream of audio data words sequentially to a FIFO input register. The output of the FIFO input register is polled at a frequency F2, greater than F1, and, in the event that an audio data word is available at the output of the FIFO input register, the audio data word is conveyed from the output of the FIFO input register to an input of a signal path. Patent number: 8307128Abstract: A system, computer-implementable method, and computer-readable medium for improving sequential serial attached small computer system interface storage device performance. According to a preferred embodiment, a microprocessor within a target device receives a collection of tasks from at least one initiator device via a collection of initiator paths. The target device is a cyclic non-volatile memory medium. The microprocessor queues the collection of tasks according to a collection of task list. Each task list corresponds to a respective initiator path. The microprocessor combines the collection of tasks in an execution queue. The collection of tasks on the execution queue is reordered based on a priority scheme. The microprocessor executes the collection of tasks from the execution queue.Type: GrantFiled: December 8, 2006Date of Patent: November 6, 2012Assignee: International Business Machines CorporationInventors: Thomas R. Patent number: 8294927Abstract: Access-destination information specified by a mobile information terminal is received and an access decision unit (108) determines whether it is possible to access a WWW server on a network specified by the access-destination information. If it has been determined that the WWW server is accessible, the WWW server is accessed and data is acquired via a network communication unit (107), and the data is printed by an image processor (109). If it has been determined that the WWW server is inaccessible, on the other hand, then the mobile information terminal is notified of this fact via the network communication unit (107).Type: GrantFiled: October 9, 2006Date of Patent: October 23, 2012Assignee: Canon Kabushiki KaishaInventor: Shiro Kunori

Publication number: 20120254487Abstract: A host device requests a recording device to send first information including model information or sequel information expressed as a value in a first range. The host device determines if the model information or the sequel information is contained in the first information sent from the recording device, and acquires the model information from the first information if the model information is contained in the first information. If the sequel information is contained in the first information, the host device requests transmission of second information containing model information expressed as a value in the second range, and acquires model information from the second information. Based on the acquired recording device model information, the host device writes data stored in the host device to the recording device.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 29, 2012Publication date: October 4, 2012Applicant: SEIKO EPSON CORPORATIONInventors: Yuji Takamizawa, Naohiko Koakutsu, Akio Takamoto

Patent number: 8281056Abstract: A system and method for processing data on a peripheral device that is operatively coupled to a host computing system via a peripheral bus. The compression of input data transmitted to the peripheral device and/or the size of the storage provided on the peripheral device may enhance the efficiency of the processing of the data on the peripheral device by obviating a bottleneck caused by the relatively slow transfer of data between the host computing system and the peripheral device.Type: GrantFiled: July 31, 2008Date of Patent: October 2, 2012Assignee: Chevron U.S.A.
