Abstract: Systems and methods for commonality factoring for storing data on removable storage media are described. The systems and methods allow for highly compressed data, e.g., data compressed using archiving or backup methods including de-duplication, to be stored in an efficient manner on portable memory devices such as removable storage cartridges. The methods include breaking data, e.g., data files for backup, into unique chunks and calculating identifiers, e.g., hash identifiers, based on the unique chunks. Redundant chunks can be identified by calculating identifiers and comparing identifiers of other chunks to the identifiers of unique chunks previously calculated. When a redundant chunk is identified, a reference to the existing unique chunk is generated such that the chunk can be reconstituted in relation to other chunks in order to recreate the original data. The method further includes storing one or more of the unique chunks, the identifiers and/or the references on the removable storage medium.

  • Patent number: 8347002
Abstract: An apparatus for transmitting a video signal includes a signal detector, a multiplexer and a transmitter. The signal detector detects the video signal from the source to determine whether the horizontal sync signal and the vertical sync signal of the video signal are independent or composite. The multiplexer generates a composite sync signal by combining the horizontal sync signal and the vertical sync signal with reference to timing characteristics of the horizontal sync signal and the vertical sync signal while the horizontal sync signal and the vertical sync signal are detected as independent signals, and passes the composite sync signal while the horizontal sync signal and the vertical sync signal are detected as the composite sync signal. The transmitter transmits the video signal with the composite sync signal to the destination via a media. A method for transmitting the video signal is also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 8335877
Abstract: Systems and methods for commonality factoring for storing data on removable storage media that may allow for highly compressed data to be stored efficiently on portable memory devices. The methods include breaking data into unique chunks and calculating identifiers, e.g., hash identifiers, based on the unique chunks. Redundant chunks can be identified by comparing identifiers of other chunks to the identifiers of unique chunks. When a redundant chunk is identified, a reference to the existing unique chunk is generated such that the chunk can be reconstituted in relation to other chunks in order to recreate the original data. One or more of the unique chunks, the identifiers, and/or the references may be stored on the portable memory device. Hardware and/or software for the chunking and/or hashing functions can reside in a host computer, a removable storage device or cartridge, and/or a removable cartridge holder.

Abstract: In a presentation system, a source device provides uncompressed presentation content in an HDMI format. A first conversion device converts the uncompressed presentation content to an uncompressed second format and entirely transmits the uncompressed presentation content in the second format along an electrically conductive member. A second conversion device receives the uncompressed presentation content in the second format from the conductive member and converts the uncompressed presentation content to the HDMI format. For example, the conductive member may be that of a coaxial cable.

Abstract: A system, computer-implementable method, and computer-readable medium for improving sequential serial attached small computer system interface storage device performance. According to a preferred embodiment, a microprocessor within a target device receives a collection of tasks from at least one initiator device via a collection of initiator paths. The target device is a cyclic non-volatile memory medium. The microprocessor queues the collection of tasks according to a collection of task list. Each task list corresponds to a respective initiator path. The microprocessor combines the collection of tasks in an execution queue. The collection of tasks on the execution queue is reordered based on a priority scheme. The microprocessor executes the collection of tasks from the execution queue.

Abstract: A host device requests a recording device to send first information including model information or sequel information expressed as a value in a first range. The host device determines if the model information or the sequel information is contained in the first information sent from the recording device, and acquires the model information from the first information if the model information is contained in the first information. If the sequel information is contained in the first information, the host device requests transmission of second information containing model information expressed as a value in the second range, and acquires model information from the second information. Based on the acquired recording device model information, the host device writes data stored in the host device to the recording device.
