  • Patent number: 7774509
Abstract: A command conversion device 14 is connected between an amplifier device 11 and a portable player 13. The amplifier device 11 sends/receives a plurality of types of first commands corresponding to a plurality of types of devices (e.g., CD players, MD recorders, tape recorders, etc.), and performs an operation based on a received first command. The portable player 13 sends/receives a second command, and performs an operation based on a received second command. The command conversion device 14 includes a selector for selecting a type of a first command, and a converter. When a first command of the type selected by the selector is received from the amplifier device 11, the converter converts the received first command into a second command, and sends the second command to the portable player 13.

Abstract: A method for improving the speed and efficiency of transmitting data between two components in which the transmitted data is sent, at least partly, through a serial bus is shown. According to the method, the fields in the data frames being transmitted between the components are of a fixed length regardless of the amount of data that the receiving device can receive at one time. The data bits of the fixed-length frame correspond to the signals accepted as input by the receiving component.

  • Patent number: 7747794
Abstract: A method and apparatus are disclosed for implementing STP flow control in SAS expander devices. SAS expanders are commonly used within a SAS network topology to allow multiple disk drives to connect to multiple host devices. Connections to a SATA HDD are supported using SATA Tunnelling Protocol (STP), which allows SATA traffic to be carried over a SAS network topology. Flow control in a STP connection is applied through a set of special SATA primitives, both for forward and backward flow control. A method is described herein in which STP flow control is supported without the use of a SATA link layer state machine. This allows STP flow control to be terminated on a hop-by-hop basis without knowing the data channel direction or maintaining a SATA link state machine, and while minimizing gate count.

  • Patent number: 7743184
Abstract: Methods and a device for performing coherent access requests are disclosed. The methods include receiving a first address associated with a first write or read request. During a write operation, if the first address is associated with a coherent access register, data to be written is stored at a data latch that is connected to a plurality of coherent data access registers. A second address and second data associated with a second write request are received. If the second address matches the first address, the second data and the latched first data are written to the coherent access register. By latching the first data and simultaneously writing the latched first data and the second data, overall coherency of the written data is maintained.
