Feedback To Transmitter For Comparison Patents (Class 714/750)
  • Patent number: 8412222
Abstract: Techniques for supporting broadcast/multiple transmission to multiple terminals with feedback and rate adaptation are described. In an aspect, a combination of HARQ and at least one shared feedback channel may be used to support broadcast/multicast transmission. In one design, a base station may send at least one transmission of a packet to multiple terminals, one transmission at a time. The base station may receive feedback information (e.g., NAK) for the packet from the terminals on the shared feedback channel(s). The base station may determine whether to terminate the packet early and/or may select at least one transmission parameter for another packet based on the feedback information for the packet. In another aspect, a transport format for a broadcast/multicast transmission may be selected based on CQI information from terminals receiving the transmission. The terminals may send CQI information at a slow rate and/or only certain terminals may send CQI information.

Abstract: Methods and systems for performing a restart operation in a storage device include in response to receiving an unsuccessful status from the host indicating a transmission error occurred for the first command, determining in which one of the logical blocks the transmission error occurred and from which data needs to be resent, thereby identifying a restart logical block. The number of blocks in the restart logical block that were sent successfully are calculated, and it is determined that the block immediately following the blocks sent successfully is the block in which the transmission error occurred and from which the data needs to be resent, thereby identifying a restart block. An amount of data successfully sent in the restart block is determined; and an indication is provided to resend at least a portion of the data in the restart block to the host.

  • Patent number: 8391268
Abstract: A method and apparatus for multiplexing positive or negative acknowledgement signals (ACK or NACK, respectively) and channel quality indication (CQI) signals from a user equipment (UE) to a serving base station (Node B) during a CQI transmission time interval (TTI) in a single-carrier frequency division multiple access (SC-FDMA) communication system. The UE does not have simultaneous data transmission. The multiplexing of acknowledgement signals is implicitly achieved by the UE applying different orthogonal covers on the reference signal (RS) symbols transmitted in the CQI TTI, depending on whether the UE sends ACK or NACK. At the Node B receiver, the detection of ACK or NACK is based on the accumulated RS energy, after removing each of the possible orthogonal covers applied at the UE transmitter. For robust system performance, absence of ACK/NACK and NACK are mapped onto the same orthogonal cover.

Abstract: Aspects of a method and system for a transmitting antenna selection failure recover mode are presented. Aspects of the system may include a transmitting mobile terminal that enables selection of a sequence of protocol data units (PDU), for example a sequence of sounding frames, which may be transmitted during an antenna selection procedure. During transmission of the selected PDU sequence, the transmitting mobile terminal may receive an antenna selection failure indication frame. The transmitting mobile terminal may enable retransmission of at least one previously transmitted PDU in the PDU sequence based on the failure indication. Transmission of subsequent PDUs in the PDU sequence may resume after the retransmission. Alternatively, upon receipt of the failure indication frame the transmitting mobile terminal may restart the selected frame sequence from the beginning, or may select a subsequent PDU frame sequence.

For uplink CoMP, in order to reduce the backhaul overhead, each cooperating base station may share only a fraction of the retransmitted packet with the serving base station. Also, different retransmission packets with different redundancy versions can be transmitted to different cooperating base stations using spatial degrees of freedom.

Abstract: The invention relates to a method for providing control signalling associated to a protocol data unit conveying user data in a mobile communication system and to the control channel signal itself. Furthermore, the invention also provides a mobile station and a base station and their respective operation in view of the newly defined control channel signals defined herein. In order to reduce the control channel overhead, the invention suggests defining a common field for the transport format and redundancy version in the control channel information format. According to one approach, the common field is used to jointly encode transport format and redundancy version therein. According to another aspect, one shared field is provided on the control channel signal that indicates either a transport format or a redundancy version depending of whether the control channel signal relates to an initial transmission or a retransmission.

Abstract: Error correcting codes (ECCs) have been proposed to be used in high frequency memory devices to detect errors in signals transmitted between a memory controller and a memory device. For high frequency memory devices, ECCs have delay characteristics of greater than one clock cycle. When the delay exceeds one clock cycle but is much less than two clock cycles, an entire second clock cycle must be added. By calculating and comparing the ECC value in a static logic circuit and a dynamic logic circuit, the logic delay is substantially reduced. In addition, the ECC value may be calculated and compared using two sets of static logic gates, where the second static logic gate is clocked by a clock signal that is delayed relative to the clock signal of the first set of logic gates.

Abstract: The present invention relates to methods and a transmitter and a receiver for a mobile communication system. The basic idea of the present invention is to recursively derive from previous HARQ feedback the number of HARQ transmissions that is required to be able to decode the transmitted data successfully and to only transmit explicit HARQ feedback information if the decoding result differs from the derived result.

  • Patent number: 8205127
Abstract: The present invention relates to automatic repeat request (ARQ) in wireless communication systems wherein a coded message block is spread over a plurality of sub-carriers or components. According to the invention an equalizing HARQ method is introduced. The equalizing HARQ identifies (215) and retransmits (230) the most distorted parts of a received coded message block. In addition, the retransmitted parts can optionally be relocated (225) to components of higher quality, which ensures good retransmission quality for those badly distorted parts in the prior transmission. After a soft-bit combination in a receiving node, the final received codeword experience an equalized quality variation with low multi-state performance loss.

  • Patent number: 8205129
Abstract: A base station (103) operates a hybrid retransmission scheme for a communication to a first subscriber unit (101) over a communication channel of an air interface of a cellular communication system. The base station (103) comprises a retransmission parameter controller (209) which sets a transmission parameter, such as a transmit power or an error correcting scheme, for a transmission of the communication in response to an operating point for the retransmission scheme. A CQI processor (203) determines a channel quality indication for the communication channel and a variation processor (205) determines a variation measure of a variation of the channel quality indication. The variation measure can for example be a rate of change. An operating point controller (207) sets the operating point in response to the variation measure. The invention may allow improved setting of transmission parameters for initial transmissions thereby providing higher throughput, reduced resource consumption and reduced delay.

  • Patent number: 8176378
