The video previews may be associated with a link or predefined duration of a full video, such that the video preview is generated from a portion of the full video and viewed by a user. The video previews are configured to play a series of images associated with images from the portion of the full video when the video preview is activated.

Abstract: A thumbnail display screen is displayed. The thumbnail display screen contains a first thumbnail array and a second thumbnail array, in which the images of two groups of frames extracted from a moving image file according to different rules are aligned in the order of appearance in the moving image. The first thumbnail array can be shifted forward or backward via an input apparatus, and the second thumbnail array is shifted in conjunction with a shift of the first thumbnail array. When one of the frames on the thumbnail display screen is selected, the moving image is played from the selected frame or the nearest scene switching point from the frame.

In one aspect, the present application describes a method implemented by a processor of an electronic device. The electronic device has a touchscreen display. The method includes detecting a first touch gesture on a first portion of the touchscreen display associated with a first control element and, during the first touch gesture, detecting a second touch gesture on a second portion of the touchscreen display associated with a second control element different from the first control element; and while detecting the first touch gesture and detecting the second touch gesture, simultaneously, causing a first event in the first portion of the touchscreen display in response to the first touch gesture, and causing a second event in the second portion of the touchscreen display in response to the second touch gesture.

Abstract: Described herein are techniques and mechanisms for personalized timeline presentation. According to various embodiments, information characterizing a plurality of pause events associated with playback of a video content item for a content management account may be presented on a display screen at a computing device. The user account may be associated with a plurality of profiles. Each of the pause events may identify a time at which playback of the video content item was paused. The time may be measured relative to the playback length of the video content item. Each of the pause events may be associated with a respective one of the plurality of profiles. A selection of one of the pause events for initiating playback of the video content item may be received at the computing device. Playback of the video content item on the display screen in accordance with the selected pause event may be initiated.

Abstract: The various embodiments described herein provide methods and apparatus for providing multiple channel recall on a television receiver. A television receiver stores multiple previously viewed channels for selective recall by a user. A television receiver outputs a selection menu that includes a plurality of previously viewed channels. A user selects one of the channels from the selection menu for viewing, and a tuner of the television receiver is commanded to output the selected channel.

Abstract: Various embodiments are generally directed to cooperation among networked devices to obtain and use a multiple-frame screenshot. In one embodiment, an apparatus comprises a processor circuit executing instructions that cause the processor circuit to receive a signal conveying a video stream from a source device; visually present video frames of the video stream on a display associated with the apparatus; maintain a rolling buffer comprising a plurality of video frames; recurringly update the plurality of video frames to represent a subset of video frames of the video stream most recently presented on the display; receive a signal indicative of a capture command; and preserve the subset of video frames as a multiple-frame screenshot in response to the capture command.

Abstract: Multimedia content of exchangeable storage media, such as optical discs, may be extended by bonus content that is downloaded via Internet connection and stored on a local storage device. An improved method for integration of different menu items relating to on-disc content and downloaded content provides flexibility and a simple, low cost solution. The method for integration of downloaded bonus content into a menu comprises defining one or more placeholders within a menu, determining a storage location or naming convention for bonus content, declaring for each placeholder an attribute providing a unique association to a specific type of bonus content, providing a button image, detecting presence of bonus content data, replacing the associated placeholder by the associated button image and enabling an associated action to be taken when said button is selected.

Abstract: A system for web-based video browsing includes a web server and a web client. The web server and the web client cooperatively provide a set of video browsing functions. The video browsing functions enable a user of the web client to browse a source video and select a video frame from the source video. The distribution of the video browsing functions between the web server and the web client may be adapted to a communication speed between the web server and the web client.

Abstract: There are provided an electronic device and a control method thereof. First contents related to an image and second contents generated by converting the recorded audio into text are displayed on a touchscreen, instead of a playback screen of the image when the electronic device plays the image and enters a mode for recording audio. The client device generates at least one screen display for the scene based on its interpretation of the scene. The client device then displays the screen as an implementation of the user interface. Thereafter, a user initiates, using the client device, an operation to control the target device. In response, the target device performs the operation. The host device may also display information at a client device For example, the host device may transmit information about a media currently playing at the client device.

Abstract: A portable terminal equipped with a projector and a method for displaying data using the portable terminal provides capabilities for both conferencing and video presentations. When a projection function is selected in the portable terminal while the portable terminal is making a video call with other portable terminal, presentation data that will be output via the projector is transmitted to another portable terminal. The presentation data and image data transmitted from the other portable terminal is output via the projector of the portable terminal.

The menu screen includes at least two hierarchical levels. A higher hierarchical level includes a first group formed by arranging select elements representing classifications of various functions related to video image displaying. A lower hierarchical level includes a second group formed by arranging select elements representing the functions. Upon receipt of a signal from a direct key to which one of the classifications represented by the select elements of the higher hierarchical level is assigned, the menu screen display module displays the menu screen in a state in which one of the select elements is selected. Here, the one of the select elements represents the one of the classifications to which the direct key is assigned, and the operation device includes the direct key.

Display of the image on the image display interface and/or the thumbnails on the thumbnail search interface is controlled based on a positional relationship between the thumbnail search interface and the thumbnail control interface.

Abstract: Systems and methods for intelligent information navigation in a graphical user interface (GUI) where a sequence of items is generated and stored in a memory of a computer system. A number of graphical elements are displayed on a screen of a GUI, wherein each graphical element corresponds to an item of the sequence of items, and wherein the graphical elements are ordered according to the sequence. When requested, the graphical elements scroll in a chosen direction to gradually include a new graphical element into the screen at the direction of scrolling. Respectively, the scrolling could gradually exclude from the screen a graphical element at opposite direction. An item of the sequence of items could be selected as a currently active item. The displayed graphical elements are automatically scrolled to move the graphical element corresponding to the currently active item at a focal position within the screen.

Abstract: The present disclosure provides a video preview display method and a terminal device, where the method includes: receiving a preview instruction of a required video selected by a user in a process of browsing a video menu, invoking a preview content of the required video according to the preview instruction and playing the preview content in a preview area of the video menu, where the preview area does not cover other videos in the video menu, so that the user can play the selected video while browsing the video menu and can select a video quickly and effectively, thereby greatly saving a video browsing time and simplifying an operation process.

Abstract: The disclosure describes systems and methods related to moving object content that is enhanced with textual content presented using rapid serial visual presentation (“RSVP”). In one embodiment, video content is enhanced with RSPV content. Related embodiments provide systems and methods for displaying, creating, and editing such content. A particular embodiment provides for RSPV enhanced video previews. In another embodiment, augmented reality content is enhanced with RSVP content. In some embodiments, RSPV enhanced moving object content is provided on various end user electronic devices including smart phones, smart watches, and head mounted displays. These and other embodiments are disclosed further herein.

Abstract: Techniques and systems for intelligent navigation of sequential media content are disclosed. The intelligent navigation is well suited to enable users to better control media playback with regards to a media playback application operating on a computing device. One embodiment of a method for playing sequential media content by a media playback application operating on a computing device includes at least the acts of: initiating playing of the sequential media content by the media playback application; receiving a user input requesting to start playing at a new position in the sequential media content; marking a current position in the sequential media content; thereafter initiating playing of the sequential media content at the new position; receiving a user input requesting to reset playing to the marked current position; and subsequently initiating playing of the sequential media content at the marked current position.

Moreover, the method may include displaying first indicia of the emotion object in a first window. In one aspect, a method can be performed by one or more processes executing on a computer system. Images representing video frames in a first region of a user interface can be displayed. An audio waveform representing audio associated with at least a portion of a video frame can be displayed. At least three audio waveform portions including (i) a first portion of the audio waveform that exceeds a first predetermined threshold, (ii) a second portion of the audio waveform below the first predetermined threshold and above a second predetermined threshold, and (iii) a third portion of the audio waveform below the second predetermined threshold can be graphically distinguished.

Abstract: Techniques disclosed herein include systems and methods that provide a workflow-based session manager or workflow engine for a content delivery system, such as for delivering video-on-demand, streaming audio, streaming video, etc. Such techniques increase velocity and flexibility of deploying new features and services in a video delivery system. Techniques include a session management model provides a service-oriented and workflow-based approach. As a service-oriented approach, each functional session management step can be represented as a business service. As a workflow-based solution, a sequence of steps to be performed can be defined as data, rather than being hard-coded inside an application. Defined as data, steps (nodes, tasks) can then be created and changed using a graphical editor. New services can be added by defining actions for the new service, and adding a node to a given session management workflow sequence. Techniques include a workflow engine that initiates session management in realtime.

In response to the user-generated input, at least one thumbnail is displayed (concurrently with the window in the graphical user interface) that corresponds to a segment of the video clip being displayed. A video file is then generated or modified that includes for at least one thumbnail, the corresponding segment of the video clip. Abstract: The present invention can include electronic devices having variable input/output interfaces that can allow a user to interact with the devices with greater efficiency and in a more ergonomic manner. An electronic device of the present invention can display icons associated with user-programmable parameters of a media file. By interacting with the icons, a user can change the user-programmable parameters during playback of the media file. Changes to the user-programmable parameters can affect playback of the remainder of the media file. An electronic device of the present invention also can automatically re-orient images shown on a display and re-configure user input components based on the orientation of the electronic device.

Abstract: Systems for browsing media that is accessible via the Internet are described. In many embodiments, the system includes a browsing application that identifies media within pages retrieved via the Internet by performing document analysis. The document analysis identifies pieces of media referenced by the page and, in a number of embodiments, also identifies pieces of media referenced by pages linked to by the original page. The identified pieces of media can be used to generate playlists that can then be played for a user via a television.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a system for transferring an interactive movie located at a server via a network and displaying the same at a user station, which comprises: (a) a display unit at the user station for displaying movie frames; (b) a control device at the user station for enabling the user to navigate within the movie; (c) a map of the movie describing the links between the individual movie frames and the index of each movie frame, said map also maintains at any given time the present virtual location of the user within the map; and (d) a prediction unit for receiving inputs from said map and from a user control device, and based on said inputs predicting those future frames that may be required for view by the user, and instructing the server to convey said predicted future frames to the user station.

Abstract: According to a preferred embodiment, there is provided a computer program for use in the creation and editing of multimedia works which provides a much simplified method of selecting and placing multimedia clips, with a length of less than about 20 seconds, into a longer composition. In one preferred embodiment, the user is provided with a graphical user interface where he or she can add to or modify the multimedia content contained therein by simply clicking the mouse above an empty track location, with the replacement clips being chosen and inserted into the work automatically. In another embodiment, the user will specify the screening criteria for a plurality of tracks, which tracks will then be automatically populated with clips according to the user's rules to generate a multimedia work.

Abstract: A file for storing digital data with high compression rate stores digital data for video and audio signals in multiple streams interleaved with each other. Each track has a stream descriptor list and a stream data list. The stream descriptor list includes a stream header chunk, a stream format chunk, and a stream name chunk. For a video stream, the stream descriptor list also includes a stream header data chunk if the video stream is under digital rights management (DRM) protection. The file format is compatible with high level data compressing algorithms, such as MPEG-4, which provide data compression ratio about six to ten times higher than a standard DVD format.
