Abstract: In order to use video post-processing capabilities available in some graphics and central processing unit hardware available now and in the future, some platforms like the Android platform need to be adapted. A user may select a video post-processing function using a graphical user interface. The selection is communicated to an operating system that does not enable video post-processing, using an inter procedure communication.

Abstract: In one aspect, a method to enable users to provide commentary to a video includes providing to fee users a social context to enable the users to view, filter, create and share commentary to the video. At least one user is not an original producer or an editor of the video and fee commentary includes at least one of text comments, animated reactions or audiovisual narrations and responses.

Abstract: Generally described is auto annotation of video content for scrolling display. A network service can receive video content. The content can be automatically annotated to generate differing sets of the content. The varying sets of content can be scrolled in a content browser. In response to receiving a selection, from the content browser, of a set of video content among the scrolling sets of video content, the selection can be displayed while the scrolling continues during the display.

Abstract: A method for an intelligent user-interaction control system includes generating a plurality of summary video frames for a certain time of incoming bit-stream of a video program to be shown on a display, and detecting a hold command from a user to stop the video program. The method also includes presenting the plurality of summary video frames to the user on the display after stopping the video program, obtaining a user selection on a selected summary frame from the plurality of the summary video frames, presenting a plurality of objects of interest from the selected summary frame to the user on the display, and determining a user-selected object of interest from the plurality of objects of interest. The method also includes searching the selected object in an online database to obtain searching results corresponding to the selected object, and prompting the user about the searching results.

Abstract: An information display system is described herein that separates rendering of information from receiving that information so that the rendering portion can be quickly displayed to the user and the data can arrive as it is available to provide further detail. The rendering portion creates a hardware surface measured to fill the area to be consumed by the list box or other control. Independently, the information retrieval portion queries information from a server or other source and processes the information as it is received. The system can then perform a transformation on the previously created hardware surface to insert the information in the rendered control without re-laying out the entire control or recreating user interface elements. Moving a surface is a cheaper operation for a CPU and can easily be accelerated using a GPU.

Abstract: A system, method, and computer program product are provided for segmenting videos in a video hosting service. To determine segments related to timestamps, user generated comments are parsed for timestamps. The timestamps are organized into sets and a segment is identified for each set of timestamps. A start point for each segment is determined based on the timestamps in each set. The segment will have an endpoint that can be either the end of the itself, or optionally can be determined based on the timestamps. Each timestamp is associated with a segment. One or more indicators represent each timestamp and each indicator is coupled to the segment associated with timestamp represented by the indicator. The segments are ranked according to popularity or the submission time of their related timestamp indicators. Responsive to receiving a client request for a video, the comments, indicators, and segments are loaded to the client.

Abstract: A method and system for displaying images captured by an in vivo imaging device are disclosed. Embodiments according to the present invention display image sequence data in a first display area. When a first annotated image is displayed in the first display area, a first thumbnail image in a second display area corresponding to the first annotated image is replaced to indicate an occurring correspondence between the first annotated image and the first thumbnail image corresponding to the first annotated image being displayed. In one embodiment, the method further comprises displaying the first thumbnail image in the second display area when one other image of the image sequence data is displayed in the first display area after the first annotated image is displayed.

Abstract: A Social Media Video system provides for the interactive viewing of Social Media Videos. A social media video includes one or more media assets, which may be images, video clips, music clips, text verbiages, or the like. During the display of a Social Media Video, a user may interact with the display to control the visual appearance of the audio/visual content of the display. The visual appearance of a Social Media Video may be changed to include visual and/or aural effects that are pleasing to a social media video viewer. The visual appearance of a Social Media Video may also be changed for better theatrical effect.

Abstract: A computer implemented method and system is provided for confirming viewing of multimedia content on a client device. A challenge generator generates a challenge stream comprising multiple challenges, random in content. The challenge stream and the multimedia content stream are integrated in real time to generate a challenge in real time. The challenge is random in content and new each time the same multimedia content is played on one or more client devices. The challenge is presented to a viewer at random times during and/or after play of the multimedia content, and/or presented at random physical locations on the multimedia content, by overlaying the challenge on the multimedia content. A response for the presented challenge is invoked from the viewer, based on which a response report is generated. The viewer is credited with an item of value, if the response report confirms that the viewer viewed the multimedia content.

Abstract: Examples of methods, systems, apparatus, and machine-readable storage media are provided to facilitate access and control of a remote desktop of a remote machine by a web browser at a client device through a transcoding server without installing proprietary plug-ins or protocols on the client device. A transcoding server may translate user input requests from a web browser into input calls compatible with a remote desktop display protocol. The transcoding server may receive remote desktop drawing commands from the remote machine and translate the remote desktop drawing commands into web browser drawing updates compatible with the web browser. A transcoding server may communicate with a web browser via HTTP and communicate with a remote machine via a remote desktop display protocol. A web browser may be an HTML5 browser. A transcoding server may send drawing coordinates to the web browser via an HTTP header and may use long polling.

Abstract: Systems, methods, and computing devices are provided for viewing scene-granular video based on geographical location. The computing device may include a memory configured to store video and geographical coordinates at which the video was captured. The computing device may further include, a processor that is configured to execute a video path viewing program, and a display that is configured to display a graphical user interface of the video path viewing program. The graphical user interface may be configured to display a path graphic spatially representing the geographical coordinates along which the video was captured, a location selector that is selectively movable along the path graphic to a selected path location, and a video icon that is configured to display a preview of a portion of the video corresponding to the selected path location.

Spectators can use the portable computing device to view spatial position of the players and the ball at given time of the game or view spatial position of the players and/or the ball based on set filters by the user. User can for example select to see spatial position of players in at the times when the team scored or according to other statistics. The user/spectator can use the user interface to select an icon of a player to see corresponding video clip of actions in the sports field.

Abstract: The inventive system comprises a touch screen on a mobile device and an application that defines a set of functioning components that provide the functionality for navigating media. The inventive application comprises components including event handling touches on the touch screen, presentation and layout interacting with event handling, content cache storing media and metadata, and content loading connecting to and loading the media and the metadata from a remote storage device, such that the event handling component invokes one or more of the presentation and layout component, the content cache component and the content loading component in response to various touch screen interactions. The various touch screen interactions perform setting a browser shape, setting a range, focus, zoom in and out, and/or level of detail of the media segments, moving laterally in time, resetting a view, annotating and/or viewing annotations, playing, pausing, and stopping the media summarization.

The media presentation interface may be operable to navigate and display media content. The system may also include a first and a second media presentation device. Each media presentation device may include a processor, memory, and a display screen. Each media presentation device may be operable to generate the media presentation interface based on the information received from the media presentation interface server. The second media presentation device may be operable to update the media presentation interface based on an instruction received from the first media presentation device.

Abstract: Mechanisms are provided to allow for improved media content navigation. Metadata such as closed captioning, social media content, and tags associated with various media segments are analyzed to allow identification of particular entities depicted in the various media segments. Image recognition and audio recognition algorithms can also be performed to further identify entities or validate results from the analysis of metadata.

Abstract: Automated methods are used to augment an original script of a time-based media program that contains speech with timing metadata and an indication of a confidence level with which script portions are matched with the speech in the program audio track. An editor uses a spot dialog editor tool to produce a word-accurate spot dialog master by reviewing and editing script portions displayed next to the corresponding portions of the time-based media. The spot dialog editor tool selects for review and editing the parts of the script having a low confidence match with the speech in the program.

Abstract: A system, method and various user interfaces provide an embedded web-based video player for navigating video playlists and playing video content. A website publisher can create and store a video player with customized parameters (e.g., player type, appearance, advertising options, etc.) and can associate the player with a playlist of selected videos. The stored video player is associated with a player ID in a player database and can be embedded in a website using an embed code referencing the player ID. A user interface for the embedded player provides controls for controlling video playback and for controlling the selection of a video from the playlist.

Abstract: Systems, methods and computer-storage media are provided for distributing advertising content with improved accessibility for users and with a reduced-cost architecture for the web site provider. An advertising service directory (ASD) intercepts advertising requests containing registered words and phrases so that their location can be determined in a data structure. Through user profile, web site preference or additional information in the reference data structure, the delivery format of the content can also be detected. The request is then forwarded to the provider, removing the need for the first web site provider to actually serve the advertising content. Users can use a phrase or format in order to “push” for advertising content. Thus, brand names and products can be accessible without the need to bid for ad placement. The effectiveness of advertising across many platforms can be increased by offering users an easier-to-remember retrieval method.

Abstract: An automatic testing application is provided that can simulate a user interaction with a web application. The automatic testing application can determine that the web application has been completely displayed within a graphical user interface of a web browser using a consistent global page state. The automatic testing application can test that the web application has been correctly displayed by verifying a state of a visualization component of the web application using a communication component. Subsequently, the automatic testing application can transmit an event to the web application that can modify the state of the visualization component using the communication component.

Abstract: A device or computer program that takes the data and/or video from separate sensory devices and then combines this information for display in a standardized, but user configurable Graphical User Interface. Since each input device is paired with a device driver to properly parse the data for the input device, new devices may be added by writing new device drivers. The GUI has a standard set of elements that the individual user can modify to suit their personal preferences and needs. Since the Graphical User Interface is standardized, the user knows where to look for the data that they need no matter which sensory device is attached.

Abstract: A dynamic content modification system dynamically modifies content playback based on a user reaction so as to provide an individualized entertainment experience. The system includes a sensor module configured to receive a plurality of sensor measurements of at least one user, and a user model database including a plurality of user models associated with content preferences. A controller is configured to receive the sensor measurements and apply the sensor measurements to at least one user model to determine a prediction of a user reaction to content. The controller further is configured to determine a content modification to a playback of to the content based on the prediction, and to a cause a content reproduction device to play back the content in a manner that incorporates the determined content modification.

Abstract: Methods, systems, graphical computer interfaces, and computer readable media are disclosed to enable optimizing video frame rendering characteristics for an application. The method includes rendering a video frame and capturing push buffer settings representing the rendering of the video frame. The method also includes modifying an aspect of the push buffer settings while bypassing the application, and re-rendering the frame with the modified aspect. The method further enables comparing the rendering with the re-rendering, and presenting comparison results. Graphical user interfaces are provided to enable the functionality, without having to modify code of the application to appreciate what potential changes to the application can present in terms of performance rendering and processing efficiencies.

Abstract: Community interaction during video viewing is provided. A video hosting website includes videos available for viewing. Users establish lists of friends, who are other users of the video hosting site. When a user logs on, her presence is made known by an interaction engine to her friends that are also logged in to the site. The user's activities are tracked and her friends are notified of those activities. Tracked activities may include viewing a video, rating a video, commenting on a video, uploading a video to the site, and adding a new friend. Friends are notified of these activities in one embodiment through one or more user interface elements. A user can select a user interface element to discover which of her friends are also watching the same video at that time. A user watching a video can summon her online friends to the watch page to watch collaboratively.

The method for integration of downloaded bonus content into a menu comprises defining one or more placeholders within a menu, determining a storage location or naming convention for bonus content, declaring for each placeholder an attribute providing a unique association to a specific type of bonus content, providing a button image, detecting presence of bonus content data, replacing the associated placeholder by the associated button image and enabling an associated action to be taken when said button is selected.

Abstract: A video player for a portable multifunction device is disclosed. In some embodiments, a list of video items is displayed in a portrait orientation of a touch screen display of a portable electronic device. Upon user selection of a respective video item in the list, the user selected video item is automatically displayed in a landscape orientation of the touch screen display.

Abstract: A personal display system with which a user may adjust the configuration of displayed media is provided. The personal display system may include an electronic device operative to provide media to a personal display device operative to display the received media. Using one or more optical and digital components, the personal display device may adjust displayed media to overlay features of a theater, thus giving the user of the personal display device the impression of being in the theater. In some embodiments, the personal display device may detect the user's movements using one or more sensors and may adjust the displayed image based on the user's movements. For example, the device may detect a user's head movement and cause the portion of media displayed to reflect the head movement.

Abstract: Some embodiments provide a media editing application. The application places several committed media clips in a composite display area to specify a description of a composite presentation. In response to receiving a request to create a new version for a first media clip placed at a particular location in the composite display area, the application creates an audition set at the particular location in the composite display area. The application creates a second media clip from the first media clip. The application adds the first and second media clips to the audition set. At least one of the first and second media clips is a candidate media clip that is insertable at the location in the composite display area but is not a media clip that has been committed for inclusion in the description of the composite presentation.

Abstract: Computer-implemented methods, systems, and computer-readable media for automatically generating computer-assistance videos based on remote interactive-guidance sessions are disclosed. In one example, an exemplary method for performing such a task may comprise: 1) detecting initiation of a remote interactive-guidance session between a local computing device and a remote computing device, 2) recording the remote interactive-guidance session, 3) storing the recorded interactive-guidance session in a media file, and then 4) providing access to the media file.

Abstract: The present invention is a video production and control system that uses a touch screen display and user interface, managed by a controller, for video switching. The system is used to select Preview and Program video feeds from a set of video input feeds. The video source configuration for some of the feeds may have been selected using touch screen video source control technology. Over time, the user can use the touch screen controls to switch which feeds are then designated as the Preview and Program feeds. The evolving Program signal is sent to a Program output connection for consumers of the Program, possibly after some reformatting. The current Program feed may be promoted from the current Preview feed. User controls determine the type of transition, such as cut or crossfade, that will apply to a transition from Preview to Program.

Animation is used in the timeline element for presenting the adjusted defined time scale corresponding to the durational information of the second audio clip in the timeline element.

Abstract: A method is provided for playing a video clip on a computer monitor in a full screen mode. Activation of a link to the video clip on a web page results in the video clip being played automatically in full screen mode on the computer monitor. Upon the video clip ending, the full screen mode ends and returns the display to the previous view of the web page. The full screen mode plays the video clip with integrated with a transparent video control panel that has controls to enable user control of the playing of the video clip.

Abstract: The present invention is an information service and advertising providing system for presenting interactive information services together with interactive advertising on a communications network such as the Internet and LANs. The information service may be a game played interactively on the network while advertising is communicated between users and an advertising network node. However, other interactive services, such as are available on the Internet, are also accessible for concurrent use with advertising presentations. Advertising or promotionals may be selectively presented to users by comparing archived user profiles with demographic profiles of desired users. User responses to advertising may be used for evaluating advertising effectiveness such as for test or microtarget marketing. Compensation to users for viewing advertising may also be provided. For instance, users may be provided with subsidized Internet access for receiving advertising while concurrently interacting with an Internet service.
