Abstract: Methods and apparatus provide for a region brander configured to uniformly apply branding (i.e graphical modifications) upon both content data and application data to effectuate a seamless branding of an entire region of a graphical user interface (GUI). The region brander defines a hierarchy relationship between content and a branding extension (i.e. embedded modification information) with respect to a region in a Graphical User Interface (GUI). The region brander further defines a master region in the GUI to apply the hierarchy relationship to display the content and the branding extension in the master region. A slave region in the GUI can also be defined to apply the hierarchy relationship in order to: (i) display, in the slave region, the branding extensions related to content selected in the master region, and (ii) display episodic content related to content selected in the master region.

Abstract: Described herein are techniques and mechanisms for personalized timeline presentation. According to various embodiments, information characterizing a plurality of pause events associated with playback of a video content item for a content management account may be presented on a display screen at a computing device. The user account may be associated with a plurality of profiles. Each of the pause events may identify a time at which playback of the video content item was paused. The time may be measured relative to the playback length of the video content item. Each of the pause events may be associated with a respective one of the plurality of profiles. A selection of one of the pause events for initiating playback of the video content item may be received at the computing device. Playback of the video content item on the display screen in accordance with the selected pause event may be initiated.

A fastplay application provides for dynamic play list generation, using feature categorization and local storage to present a set of custom play list(s) that are tailored to a user's preference(s). The settings may be stored locally on the media player storage device such that the preference(s) can be utilized across titles.

Abstract: A mobile terminal and a method of controlling a mobile terminal may be provided. The mobile terminal may include a display to display one of a plurality of wallpapers including at least one icon; and a controller to display at least two of the plurality of wallpapers and a plurality of preview screens corresponding to the plurality of wallpapers on the display upon reception of an input of moving at least one icon, moving of the at least one icon being displayed on the displayed wallpapers and preview screens. The mobile terminal can display a movement of icon being displayed on the displayed wallpapers and preview screens. Accordingly, a user may intuitively recognize a location of icon and effectively move a location of icon.

Abstract: A television signal recording apparatus comprises a recording unit that makes recordings of television signals and stores metadata representing information in respect of the recordings including the channel and the recording time. A graphical display of made recordings and scheduled recordings is produced in which graphical objects representing respective recordings are arranged in two dimensions, ordered in a first dimension on the basis of the channels and ordered in a second dimension on the basis of the recording times. In the second dimension, the graphical objects are arranged along a time axis which includes discontinuities at times when no recording is present, the discontinuities being graphically represented by graphical symbols that are different according to the period of the discontinuity. An electronic program guide is produced with a similar format, the programs being filtered to select programs and discontinuities being present at times where there is no selected program.

Abstract: A method and system of controlling display of information from a plurality of video sources on at least one presentation space, the method comprising the steps of providing at least first and second selectable control interfaces, each interface including a separately selectable control associated with the at least one common display screen presentation space and a selectable off control, uniquely associating video sources with the control interfaces, for each control interface (i) receiving an indication each time the selectable control is selected and receiving an indication each time the selectable off control is selected, (ii) upon receiving an indication that the selectable control has been selected, providing the video source associated with the control interface to the presentation space; and (iii) upon receiving an indication that the selectable off control has been selected, cutting off the video source from the presentation space.

Abstract: A content manager an indication that a branch event is to be included in a video presentation. In conjunction with the branch event, the content manager also receives a selection of a plurality of video segments to be associated with the branch event. Each video segment defines video content to be rendered during playback (e.g., by a rendering application) of the video presentation upon selection of a branch choice corresponding to that video segment. Additionally, the content manager encodes the plurality of video segments and the corresponding branch choices as a branch event in the video presentation.

Abstract: Methods and systems that identify classic videos. A classic video is a video that consistently receives high viewership over a long period of time. A video hosting server identifies a number of views that a video received for each day during a measurement period. For each day, the video hosting server determines whether the day is a high view day based on the number of views for the day. The video hosting server identifies the video as a classic video responsive to the video having a number of high view days that are above a threshold number of days.

Abstract: Auto-completion techniques are provided. In some embodiments, a multimedia object can be determined based upon a received textual input. A displayable representation of the multimedia object can be provided as an auto-complete suggestion. In response to user selection of the displayable representation, the received textual input can be replaced with a representation that enables the multimedia object to be accessed. In some embodiments, a mathematical operation can be performed based upon the received textual input. The result of the operation can be provided as an auto-complete suggestion. In response to user selection of the suggestion, the received textual input can be replaced with the result of the mathematical calculation.

Abstract: A mobile terminal and controlling method thereof are disclosed, by which various kinds of informations and/or functions for at least one content can be provided through a plurality of partitioned regions generated by partitioning a region of a display object for the at least one content into a plurality of the partitioned regions. The present invention may include creating a display object corresponding to an upper content in a manner of having an inner space partitioned into a plurality of regions and displaying the created display object on a touchscreen, wherein different lower contents subordinate to the upper content are displayed on a plurality of the regions, respectively.

Abstract: The present invention provides electronic methods and apparatus for interactively authoring, sharing and analyzing digital video content. Methods for authoring include displaying visual data, defining each traversal as a time-based sequence of frames and annotating and storing a record of the traversal and its associated audio records. Defining the traversal includes interactively panning the visual data by positioning an overlay window relative to the visual data and zooming in or out by resizing the overlay window. In alternative embodiments, the visual data may be displayed in a rectangular layout or a cylindrical layout. The methods are practiced using an integrated graphical interface, including an overview region displaying the visual data, a detail region displaying current data within the overlay window, and a worksheet region displaying a list of previously stored annotated traversal records.

Abstract: Techniques described herein may provide web pages to customers describing various accounts of the customers. In one implementation, a system receives a request for a web page from a client relating to an account of the client, and generates a document in response to the request. The document includes a reference to a script configured to display a context menu for the account in the web page. The script receives, asynchronously with the display of the context menu in the web page, a menu object representing actions for the context menu that are valid for the account. The system transmits the document and the script to the client.

Abstract: In order to provide a recording and reproducing device that allows a user to select and manage arbitrary play lists, a unit of management for managing all registered play list information and an upper management hierarchical level are added. The unit of management is adapted to be handled on the same level with unified information that indicates a reproduction range of all AV data. User-defined unified information is adapted to be handled on the added management hierarchical level. The user-defined unified information is formed to allow arbitrary reproduction ranges contained on a lower hierarchical level to be registered.

The method includes: receiving, by a terminal, a request submitted by a user for displaying a multi-task interface; acquiring tasks started by the user and setting, according to the number of tasks started by the user and a start sequence, an arrangement manner of the multi-task interface; classifying the tasks started by the user into a video playing task and a non-video playing task; and separately drawing the video playing task and the non-video playing task according to the arrangement manner of the multi-task interface to obtain the multi-task interface, and displaying the multi-task interface to the user. Abstract: Systems and methods are disclosed for obtaining and presenting information to a user playing a media item identifying playback positions of a number of other users also playing the media item. In one embodiment, playback information is maintained for each of a plurality of users, the playback information identifying a media item being played by the user and information identifying a playback position of the user in playback of the media item. The playback information is filtered automatically in response to one or more user provided criteria thereby resulting in playback information for each of a subset of users from the plurality of users. Playback information is provided to a user device, the playback information for one or more second users of the subset of users playing a select media item such that the playback information for the one or more second users is presented to the first user.

Abstract: Exemplary user interface enhancements for media content access systems and methods are described herein. An exemplary method includes a media content access system launching a graphical user interface for display, the graphical user interface initially including a graphical representation of a channel guide comprising a grid matrix of channel icons representing a plurality of media content channels through which media content is accessible by the media content access system and a graphical representation of an advertisement displayed together with the channel guide in the graphical user interface, detecting a user navigation event within the channel guide displayed in the graphical user interface, and replacing, in response to the user navigation event, the graphical representation of the advertisement with a graphical representation of content specific to a media content channel within the plurality of media content channels. Corresponding user interfaces, systems, and methods are also disclosed.

Abstract: To improve the art of graphical user interfaces, the present invention introduces a system that displays iconic resource representations having a salient dimension in a manner that provides the user with an indication of where the user is within that resource. The system of the present invention achieves this goal with the use of a novel system of icon label placement for that resource icon. Specifically, the system of the present invention uses the position of a label on an iconic resource representation that extends beyond at least one edge of a window to convey a proportional position within than iconic resource representation. Thus, a user is given an understanding of the current proportional location within an iconic resource representation from where the graphical interface system renders the label on the iconic resource representation.

Abstract: A method and cloud server for capturing and encoding a video from a website through a toolbar are disclosed. The method of capturing the video through the toolbar may include retrieving and selecting video from the website and capturing the selected video. The method of uploading the object on the webpage through the toolbar may include analyzing object information about the object on the webpage through the toolbar, selecting and transferring the object to an upload area through the toolbar using an account.

Abstract: A method for providing location determination includes generating digital images using an imaging device in a headset configured to provide hands-free communication with a mobile device where the digital images are indicative of at least a scene in a direction of a user's gaze. The digital images are filtered and transmitted to the mobile device. The mobile device processes the filtered digital images to generate location information associated with the user's gaze. The headset may be a wired or wireless headset.

Abstract: The invention relates to a method for creating a new roundup of an audiovisual document previously recorded in a device. The document contains two parts, one being the roundup and the other composed of a plurality of reports. The roundup is itself divided into a plurality of parts. The device first searches for the associations between the roundup parts and the reports, and detects the reports that are not associated with roundup parts. Then, summaries are created for the reports not associated with the roundup, and incorporated into the initial roundup to create a new roundup. In this manner, the user can easily select any report from the roundup part associated with this report. The invention also relates to the receiver suitable for implementing the method.

Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for adding and displaying interactive annotations for existing online hosted videos. A graphical annotation interface allows the creation of annotations and association of the annotations with a video. Annotations may be of different types and have different functionality, such as altering the appearance and/or behavior of an existing video, e.g. by supplementing it with text, allowing linking to other videos or web pages, or pausing playback of the video. Authentication of a user desiring to perform annotation of a video may be performed in various manners, such as by checking a uniform resource locator (URL) against an existing list, checking a user identifier against an access list, and the like. As a result of authentication, a user is accorded the appropriate annotation abilities, such as full annotation, no annotation, or annotation restricted to a particular temporal or spatial portion of the video.

Abstract: A remote experience system is presented. The system can include a feed aggregation engine configured to obtain a plurality of feeds from feed acquiring devices associated with an event. The feed aggregation engine can obtain an experience policy related to the event and construct an experience feed having an arrangement of the plurality of feeds according to the experience policy. The experience feed can be presented to a user via an experience feed interface, and can include an indication of a focal or other cluster.

Abstract: A computer-implemented method and system are provided for profiling or analyzing audio data based on an audio parameter. The audio data is divided into audio data into segments. Each segment is characterized by the audio parameter in a defined range. Effects are selected according to the segments meeting criteria for the audio parameter of the effects. A media presentation is authored or generated using the selected effects.

Abstract: Methods and arrangements for video delivery preparation. A video, being accessible online, is displayed at an interface in response to a user request. A relative probability of video access by the user with respect to at least two other online-accessible videos is qualitatively determined. An ordered prediction set is created with respect to the other videos. The other videos are prepared incrementally based on the prediction set, so that the user is able to access and view the videos. The preparing includes preparing a first one of the other videos over a first time period and a second one of the other videos over a second time period, wherein at least a portion of the first time period is coincident with at least a portion of the second time period. An element is displayed at the interface which provides a connection to at least one of the other videos.

Abstract: A method is provided in one particular example that includes identifying an attempt by a first communications device to play video data within a virtual meeting session using a first media player. The first communications device can be sharing at least a portion of a desktop presented on the first communications device with one or more other remote communications devices participating in the virtual meeting session. The method can also include identifying a copy of the video data, and launching one or more media players to present at least a portion of the copy of the video data on the one or more other remote communications devices. The one or more media players are launched to correspond to a location of the first media player on the shared portion of the desktop.

Abstract: An audiovisual reproduction system triggered by payment from a user is developed around a microprocessor device. The system includes memory containing, in compressed digital form, audio and visual information, and a display and digital audio reproduction unit, for creating a multimedia environment. The display includes a video monitor and an interactive user interface which reacts to external events and translates the external events for a multitasking operating system as events activating, via a graphical module of a library of integrated tools and services, a display of windows or frames providing control of physical operating parameters of the audiovisual reproduction system. The external events includes at least a down-event where the user contacts a representation displayed on the touch screen, selecting a parameter to modify, and an up-event where the use breaks contact with the screen, which triggers modification of the selected parameter, saving the parameter in the memory.

In particular, a display manager manages the user interface presented and integrates video chat displays and features into the content displays in a content and/or context aware manner. Abstract: Systems and methods for media aggregation are disclosed herein. The system includes a media system that can transform user generated media items into at least one aggregated media item. A synchronization component can synchronize media items with respect to time. Synchronized media items can be analyzed and transformed into an aggregated media item for storage and/or display. In addition, the aggregated media item is capable of being manipulated to create an enhanced and customizable viewing and/or listening experience. Accordingly, media item aggregation can be accomplished.

Abstract: Various embodiments included herein include at least one of systems, methods, and software for explanatory animation generation. Some embodiments include receiving data representative of at least two data items, each data item to be presented as a node. Relationships between these data items are discovered in an interrelated dataset and the relationship is illustrated as a set of sequential nodes on a canvas. A text-script descriptive of each of the nodes is then generated. Finally, such embodiments include generating a visualization with a synchronized voiceover based on the sequence nodes and the text-script, the visualization including each node with a synchronized voiceover of each node.

Abstract: Optical storage media often contain data structures for a menu suitable for selection of a title, a chapter, a parameter or others. Such menus usually comprise a number of buttons to be displayed, with each button having a state. Possible states of buttons are; e.g., “unselected”, “selected” or “activated”. According to the invention, the menu may contain buttons that can be selected through the keys on the remote control, but that don't have any images or text associated. This allows creating “invisible buttons” that automatically execute commands upon selection. Further, a sound or sound sequence; e.g., melody or click, may be associated to a buttons state, and may be played back when the button enters this state. Such menu data may be stored; e.g., on a Blu-ray disc.

Abstract: Disclosed herein is a computer implemented method and system for confirming that a viewer viewed multimedia content on a client device. The client device receives the multimedia content from a server and plays the multimedia content on a display screen of the client device. A random challenge is presented to the viewer by overlaying the random challenge on the multimedia content. The random challenge is one or more of random in content, presented at random times during and/or after play of the multimedia content, and presented at random physical locations on the multimedia content. A response for the presented random challenge is invoked from the viewer. The viewer's response confirms that the multimedia content has been viewed by the viewer. A response report is generated based on the viewer's response. The viewer is credited with an item of value, if the response report confirms the multimedia content was viewed by the viewer.

Abstract: Configurable user interface systems for a patient support structure are disclosed. As described a control interface comprises the capability to allow limited impact on processes deemed important when other applications and programs are run. The configurable user interface systems described herein allow for customized display of information and display options available to a user in various environments.
