Abstract: Two-tuner media device systems and methods are operable to pre-tune a second tuner in anticipation of a channel surfing activity. An exemplary embodiment receives a first content stream associated with a currently presented channel at a first tuner, determines an anticipated channel based upon the currently presented channel and a historical channel surfing pattern, receives a second content stream associated with the anticipated channel at a second tuner, detects an initiation of a channel surfing activity, and presents at least a video portion of the second content stream associated with the anticipated channel in response to detecting the initiation of the channel surfing activity.

Abstract: An electronic device with a display and a touch-sensitive surface accesses a collection of media items, organized into a hierarchy of granularity levels, each corresponding to a respective timescale. The device displays a first plurality of representations of the media items at a first granularity level, corresponding to a first timescale, and in response to a pinch gesture, replaces the display of the first plurality of representations of the media items with display of a second plurality of representations of the media items at a second granularity level that corresponds to a second timescale that is longer than the first timescale.

An indication of availability for access of the digital media title by the user account from the first digital media service provider and the second digital media service provider is presented based at least in part on the first availability and the second availability.

Abstract: QR codes or the like are used in hardlink applications, by which different users may receive different information in response to a user's interaction with a touchpoint. The content delivered to a particular user in response to a hardlink code or a presented hyperlink may be dependent on the time of the scan, the geographic location of the user, a weather condition at the geographical location, personal information associated with the user, a number of previous scans of the code by prior individuals, and any combination of the these or other variables, which may be determined by an originator of the QR code or other party. User devices may be re-directed to alternate content or network addresses based on one or more programmed conditions.

Abstract: An apparatus, system and method for providing a visual search using augmented reality glasses. The apparatus, system and method include a network communicatively associated with the glasses capable of providing remote connectivity to an application programming interface (API); a machine learning (ML) model communicative with the API and having an input capable of receiving live video data indicative of a view field of the glasses, wherein the ML model includes at least a data comparator and platform-specific coding corresponded to the glasses; a search engine within the ML model and having a secondary input interfaced to a comparative database, wherein the search engine compares the live view field video data to the secondary input using the comparator; and a match output capable of outputting a match obtained by the search engine over the network to the glasses.

Abstract: Graphical descriptor data associated with a particular video asset may include data for one or more graphical descriptor images and graphical descriptor metadata related to each graphical descriptor image. The graphical descriptor images can be simultaneously presented on a display screen with the video asset content and used to navigate to different content in that video asset. The graphical descriptors can also be used to navigate to content of one or more different assets.

Abstract: A computer-implemented method is described herein. The method can include identifying a fingerprint associated with a webpage. The fingerprint can be identified in response to a user loading a webpage that includes a job posting. An application programming interface (API) call to query an API can be generated based at least in part on the fingerprint. The API can be associated with a video content provider. The API can be queried to identify a video content to be added to the webpage based at least in part on the API call. The video content can be added automatically to a location on the webpage in response to receiving the video content and based at least in part on the fingerprint.

Abstract: Methods and systems for a media guidance application that aggregates media content and media guidance data for users. For example, the media guidance application may aggregate content from numerous providers and provide the content through a single interface. Moreover, the media guidance application described herein may provide service providers with finder's fees for sharing information about media assets that users are interested in viewing.

Abstract: A system that is capable of resolving anaphora using timing data received by a local device. A local device outputs audio representing a list of entries. The audio may represent synthesized speech of the list of entries. A user can interrupt the device to select an entry in the list, such as by saying “that one.” The local device can determine an offset time representing the time between when audio playback began and when the user interrupted. The local device sends the offset time and audio data representing the utterance to a speech processing system which can then use the offset time and stored data to identify which entry on the list was most recently output by the local device when the user interrupted. The system can then resolve anaphora to match that entry and can perform additional processing based on the referred to item.

Abstract: Systems and methods are described for delivering regional content for a lineup over a national network. A content provider may select a particular regional broadcast for inclusion in a regional service lineup. The content provider may be able to broadcast multiple, or even all, services nationally. At regional distribution centers, a multiplexer may select only those services that are desired for the region in response to in-stream signals. In some instances, a single region-specific version of a given service may be selected from multiple versions broadcasted nationally. The regional lineup, including the selected services, can then be multiplexed and transmitted to customers throughout the region.

Abstract: Systems and methods for validating live programming content based on data are provided. A system can access an initial schedule for a live broadcast event provided by a broadcast provider computing system, and identify an initial start time for the live broadcast event and a duration for the live broadcast event. The system can receive an update relating to the live broadcast event from a data source. The system can determine that the initial schedule is invalid based on the update, and set a flag for the live broadcast event indicating that the initial schedule has changed. The system can then modify a selection policy for content to display with the live broadcast event responsive to the flag.

Abstract: A display device for providing a speech recognition service according to an embodiment of the present disclosure can include a display unit, a network interface unit configured to communicate with a server, and a control unit configured to receive a voice command uttered by a user, acquire usage information of the display device, transmit the voice command and the usage information of the display device to the server through the network interface unit, receive, from the server, an utterance intention based on the voice command and the usage information of the display device, and perform an operation corresponding to the received utterance intention.

Abstract: In some implementations, a user device can coordinate adjustments to a composite GUI generated in cooperation with an accessory device that presents the composite graphical user interface. For example, the user device can receive configuration data that defines the maximum GUI display area (e.g., size, dimensions) of the accessory device, various view areas within the GUI display area of the accessory device into which the user device can render GUIs, and/or transitions between the various view areas. The user device can generate a display buffer based on the maximum GUI display area, generate a graphical user interface in an area of the buffer corresponding to a current view area specified by the accessory device, and send to the accessory device video frames corresponding to the display buffer. The accessory device can generate a composite GUI based on the received video frames that include the user device generated GUI.

Abstract: Systems and methods are presented for reducing network traffic when retrieving media guidance data. For example, a media guidance application receives a first user selection to display a group of media asset identifiers (e.g., video-on-demand listings) and retrieves detailed information from a remote server relating to the media asset identifiers to display to a user. The media guidance application then may receive a user selection to display a second group of media asset identifiers (e.g., purchased media assets). If any of the media asset identifiers are common to both groups, then the media guidance application already obtained the detailed information and the detailed information does not need to be retransmitted in order to be displayed. Thus, the media guidance application only retrieves detailed information for media asset identifiers unique to the second group of media asset identifiers (e.g., they are only on the purchased media asset list).

Abstract: A satellite television antenna system can include a self-pointing satellite antenna and a power inserter coupled to the self-pointing satellite antenna. The power inserter can include an enclosure body and a circuit board disposed inside of the enclosure body. The circuit board includes a microprocessor. The microprocessor can be configured via software code to determine whether a first type of communication protocol is being received from a set top box (STB) coupled to the power inserter, determine a configuration for a first constellation of spacecraft if the first type of communication protocol is being received from the STB, and determine a configuration for a second constellation of spacecraft if the first type of communication protocol is not being received from the STB. The first constellation of spacecraft is different than the second constellation of spacecraft.

Abstract: A system and method for wireless synchronization on a network are disclosed. In one embodiment, the wireless device includes a wireless transceiver and processing circuitry. The wireless transceiver wirelessly receives synchronization information including a superframe from a first wireless, reader device, and wirelessly transmits the synchronization information to a second wireless, reader device and a portable wireless device, and to wirelessly detect a presence of a portable wireless device. The processing circuitry communicates synchronization information to the second wireless, reader device and portable wireless device. The superframe is used to synchronize a wireless data exchange between the third wireless, reader device and the portable wireless device.

Abstract: A digital broadcast receiver includes a first receiving module tunable to a foreground broadcast service to extract a program information, a first decoder module coupled to the first receiving module and decoding the program information, an output module switchably coupled to the first decoder module and adapted to output the program information, at least one second decoder module coupled to the first receiving module and tunable to a background broadcast service to decode a program information associated with the background broadcast service, and a control unit adapted to tune the first receiving module and the first decoder module to the foreground broadcast service and to tune each of the at least one second decoder modules to a background broadcast service. The control unit determines the foreground broadcast service based on a user input and determines the background broadcast services based on the foreground broadcast service and a predefined rule.

Abstract: Techniques for responding to a user input using a device-executable intent are described. A user may speak, to a device, an input corresponding to a first natural language understanding (NLU) intent executable by a speech processing system. The speech processing system may determine a device type corresponding to the device and, based on the device type, determine a data subscription is required to execute the first NLU intent. Thereafter, the speech processing system may determine a second NLU intent that is executable by the device and that results in the output of similar content to the execution of the first NLU intent. The speech processing system then directs the device to execute the second NLU intent.

The system receives, at a content source, a request for the content item from the user device. The system splits a digital stream of the content item into a first video signal and a second video signal. The system then transmits, via a unicast server, the first video signal for the content item to the user device, and transmits, via a multicast server, the second video signal for the content item to the user device. The system then causes for presentation on the user device the first video signal followed by the second video signal. In other embodiments, the system is optimized between the unicast delivery of a content item and a peer-to-peer delivery.

Abstract: Systems and methods are described herein for transmitting a content item to a user device using multiple delivery protocols. The system receives, at a content source, a request for the content item from the user device. The system splits a digital stream of the content item into a first video signal and a second video signal. The system then transmits, via a unicast server, the first video signal for the content item to the user device, and transmits, via a multicast server, the second video signal for the content item to the user device. The system then causes for presentation on the user device the first video signal followed by the second video signal. In other embodiments, the system is optimized between the unicast delivery of a content item and a peer-to-peer delivery.

Abstract: The invention relates to a method and system for performing content-aware deduplication of video files and content storage cost optimization. The method includes pre-processing video files into a plurality of groups of video files based on type of genre and run-time of a video. The genre of a plurality of video files is automatically detected using a sliding-window similarity index, which is utilized to improve accuracy of genre detection. After the pre-processing step, each group of the plurality of groups of video files are simultaneously fed into a plurality of machine learning (ML) instances and models which measure a degree of similarity corresponding to each group of video files by detecting one or more conditions that exists in the video files. The one or more conditions are detected by performing deep inspection of content in the video files using hash-based active recognition of objects.

Abstract: Methods and apparatus relating to Organic Light Emitting Diode (OLED) compensation based on protected content are described. In an embodiment, secure memory stores data that is only accessible by trusted logic. Display controller logic circuitry updates pixel values to be stored in the secure memory based on a plurality of frames. The display controller logic circuitry allows access by untrusted software to the updated pixel values after a first number of updates to the pixel values stored in the secure memory. Other embodiments are also disclosed and claimed.

Abstract: One aspect of the instant application facilitates reduction of multicast group join latency. During operation, the system can receive, at a network device, a first multicast group leave packet corresponding to a first multicast group. In response to receiving a first multicast group leave packet from an IPTV client, the system can simulate a second multicast group join on behalf of the IPTV client by updating, based on a predictive model, at least an entry in a table maintained in hardware with a next likely multicast group that the IPTV client is likely to join; and sending a simulated second multicast group join packet for initiating an IPTV stream associated with the next likely multicast group. In response to receiving an actual second multicast group join packet from the IPTV client, the system can facilitate the IPTV stream to the IPTV client, thereby reducing multicast group join latency.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and apparatuses are described for testing communication with a device. A multimedia receiver may be communicatively coupled to a media device, such as a source media device. The multimedia receiver may transmit a test command to control the source media device using a communication protocol. A video frame output by the source media device may be obtained. Based at least on the video frame, it may be determined whether the source media device received the test command. In response to a determination that the source media device received the test command, an indication may be stored that the source media device may be controlled using the communication protocol.

Abstract: Systems and methods are described to address shortcomings in conventional conversation systems by executing a customized supplemental function for a natural language query based on the user's profile. In some aspects, the systems and methods receive a user query for a media asset, determine a query template in the user's profile matching the user's query, and identify and execute a supplemental function corresponding to the query template in addition to responding to the user's query. The user's profile is customized on the user's usage patterns of an interactive media guidance application. By monitoring the user's usage patterns and learning from the user's actions in conjunction with the user's natural language queries on which supplemental functions to execute, the interactive media guidance application may provide a smarter and more efficient user experience.

Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for displaying personalized preview images during trick-play operations of a media asset based on user profile data and an importance of frames of the media asset. A request from a user to move a slider of a progress bar associated with a media asset is received while the media asset is being generated for display. A scene from the media asset that contains a play position indicated by the slider is identified and a frame that best matches user profile data of the user and importance data for the scene is identified. The identified frame is generated for display as an overlay over the displayed media asset.

Abstract: In systems and methods for enhancing group watch experiences, a first user's reaction is detected using multiple sensors, e.g., at least one camera and a microphone, and may be combined with context information to determine an action to perform at user equipment devices of other users participating in the group watch to convey the first user's reaction. Images from the at least one camera can be used to determine a portion of the screen to which the user's reaction is directed and/or another user to whom the reaction is directed. The reaction may be conveyed using one or more of an audio effect, a visual effect, haptic effect or text, e.g., to highlight the determined portion or user, display an icon and/or output an audio or video clip. A signal for providing haptic feedback may be transmitted to the user equipment device of the determined user.

A network device located externally to the SPN performs the method, which comprises accessing user profile data from the user profile database and receiving, from a demand side platform via the network, segment definition data comprising a list of user attributes and attribute values associated with a given targeted content delivery process. The method further comprises determining, for each identified user identified, to include the user in a list of candidate users to be targeted if user attribute values of the user match user attribute values from the received list. User identifiers for each entry in the list of candidate users are communicated to an entity in a first SPN responsible for facilitating the delivery of targeted content.

The method further includes identifying context information and determining a user intent based on the first speech input and the context information. The method further includes determining whether the user intent is to perform a task using a searching process or an object managing process. A facility cloud host system may have a content service provider interface that is used to receive live television channel streams from a television content service provider. The local cloud system may have a transcoder that transcodes the live television channels into a format to be transmitted locally to client devices. The local cloud system may provide access to recorded content from a remote master cloud host.

Abstract: A video processing method is for an electronic device including a screen. The method includes obtaining a target video segment, the target video segment being one of a plurality of video segments pre-divided according to an obtained video file scheduled for playing; configuring a video enhancement parameter for the target video segment; performing a video enhancement process on the target video segment according to the video enhancement parameter; and displaying the enhanced target video segment on the screen. An electronic device and a non-transitory computer-readable medium are also provided.

Abstract: Techniques for neutralizing malicious malware embedded in a media item being sent to a user equipment (UE) are discussed herein. A network device may receive (e.g., intercept) a medial file in transit via a wireless communication network being sent to a UE. The media file may include some type of perceptible content (e.g., audio, video, image data, etc.) as well as malware embedded in the media file. The network device may generate a transcoded media file based on the received media file that includes the perceptible content while neutralizing the malware.

Abstract: A device implementing a system for providing content in response to a request includes a processor configured to receive a voice request for content associated with a home environment, the voice request corresponding to a user account, and determine, based on the voice request, not to provide the content via the device. The processor is further configured to select, in response to the determining, a second device from among multiple devices associated with the home environment, wherein the selecting is based at least in part on configuration settings associated with the home environment, and provide for the second device to output the content based on a profile of the user account.

Abstract: Disclosed is an information processing apparatus including processing circuitry that sets a behavior detection parameter corresponding to a behavior of a subject based on input information corresponding to characteristics of a subject in an image, and detects a behavior of the subject based on the set behavior detection parameter and a posture of the subject in the image. The present disclosure can be applied to, for example, a lecture capturing system.

Abstract: This disclosure describes techniques for software-defined service insertion. The techniques include a method of configuring a network for service insertion. The techniques include processing a master policy correlating an endpoint group pair, of source endpoint group and destination endpoint group, to a service graph. The service graph indicates a template service chain, and the template service chain indicates an ordering of a plurality of services. Processing the master policy includes disaggregating the master policy into at least one location specific policy, each of the at least one location specific policy corresponding to a separate location in the network and including traffic steering directives corresponding to a portion of the plurality of services associated with the separate location. The techniques further include causing each of the at least one location specific policy to be stored in association with the separate location to which that location specific policy corresponds.
