  • Patent number: 7490560
Abstract: A method and system is presented for ensuring that a latch securing a ramp to a pallet is properly aligned and seated before a product can be offloaded from the pallet and down the ramp. The system uses a latching system that has a pallet-attached base and a ramp-attached mating bracket. The pallet-attached base has two rods. The first rod has a retainer arm that is restricted by the second rod to a vertical position, thus preventing a shipment on the pallet from reaching the ramp. The second rod has a thin portion and a thick portion. The second rod must be laterally moved such that the mating bracket mates only with the thin portion of the rod. This lateral movement moves the second rod away from the first rod's retainer arm, thus allowing the retainer arm to fold down.

  • Patent number: 6971320
Abstract: A mounting pad for transporting and anchoring different sizes of electrical distribution transformers has a pad top surface with a plurality of sidewalls extending downwardly therefrom and a cellular subframework positioned below the pad top surface and within the plurality of sidewalls. The pad top surface has an access opening formed therein. A base flange extends outwardly from a bottom of the plurality of sidewalls. Forklifting slots having abutment surfaces are formed through a sidewall and into the subframework. The subframework has a plurality of ribs extending therein. Solid blocks are positioned in the subframework so as to allow the transformer to be secured thereto with helical screws.

  • Patent number: 6941877
Abstract: A loading member with a substantially L-shaped cross section and which jointly with a corresponding loading member may be arranged at the bottom of a box, each member being provided at one of two respective parallel lower edges of the box. The loading members are retained in close abutment with the box by means of circumferential straps or packaging film, whereby the members form feet for the box. A first web of the L-section is provided with at least two pressed hollow projections on the surface intended to face a supporting surface of the loading member. Two of these projections have an interspacing of at least half the length of the member. The width of the projections is less than or equal to half the width of the first web. The projections substantially abut an edge at which the webs of the L-section converge.

  • Patent number: 6938557
Abstract: A top and end frame assembly (10) attachable to a pallet (12) for packing, shipping, and storing heavy articles, with a pair of stringers (20) made with open-sided U-shaped channels and connected together by transverse members (22, 24). Two pairs of opposing corner posts (50) each formed of an open-sided U-shaped channel pivotally attach at respective opposing distal ends of the stringers (20). Each corner post (50) moves between a folded position with the corner posts received in the respective stringer for shipping in a knocked-down position and an extended position for attaching to a pallet for a frame container. Two pairs of opposing side diagonal members (36) pivotally attach to a respective one of the stringers and move between a received position within the stringer and a diagonal position for pinning at an opposing end to a respective one of the corner posts. The corner posts being pivoted to the extended position attach at distal ends to the pallet (12) for containing heavy equipment.

  • Patent number: 6863003
Abstract: A pallet system includes a pallet and a support of two parallel opposed horizontal rails, open towards each other and spaced to receive opposed side edge portions of a pallet moved in a horizontal plane between the rails. The pallet bears on substantially the full length of the lower flanges in a stowed position and is prevented from significant upward movement by the upper flanges. The upper flanges are cut away at one end to expose to view from overhead the corresponding ends of the lower flanges, so that a pallet can be lowered to rest two of its corners on the exposed ends of the lower flanges and thus be located before horizontal movement into the stowed position.

  • Patent number: 6857377
Abstract: A shipping pallet that has a load bearing deck with a plurality of domes that provide high strength, stiffness, and rigidity to the deck, and an undercarriage for supporting the deck and for receiving a forklift, palletjack, hand truck, or other automated machinery. Each dome is defined by an apex located proximate to the upper surface of the deck and a plurality of legs extending from the apex and ending at the lower surface of the deck. The domes are arranged adjacent to each other and define an array such that a load applied to the upper surface of the deck, substantially on the apex of the domes, will cause the applied forces from the load to be transmitted substantially laterally along the legs of the arches thereby producing intersecting compressive forces between adjacent domes that enable the load bearing deck to have high strength, stiffness, and rigidity.
