Abstract: The invention relates to an anti-locking wheel control system in which control signals for the variation of the brake pressure are derived from the rotary motion behavior of the vehicle wheels and in which a test circuit is provided, which initiates a test for at least one wheel brake when a signal appears which indicates a tendency toward locking, in which test the over-braked vehicle wheel enters a state of high slippage, whereby the test circuit determines how the wheel behaves at the given coefficient of friction between the road surfaces and the tire, and whereby on the basis of this determination, the test circuit either provides a state in which the brake pressure is regulated or else switches to a state in which the control is made ineffective for at least some of the wheel brakes.
Abstract: A fuel injection pump is disclosed for supercharged Diesel internal combustion engines, in particular, a distributor-type injection pump in which the full-load fuel supply quantity is limited by means of a variable stop, controlled in accordance with rpm and air quantity. The injection pump includes a control apparatus whose control member forms a three-dimensional cam, which is rotated by a charge pressure control element and is displaced in the longitudinal direction by a hydraulic adjustment piston actuated in accordance with the rpm level. The three-dimensional surface of the cam includes protuberances whose profile is picked up and transmitted to a full-load stop of an rpm regulator located in an interior chamber of the injection pump, while the adjustment piston, in abutting relationship with the three-dimensional cam, is actuated for axial movement by the pressure of the fuel located in the interior chamber of the pump, and controlled in accordance with rpm.
Abstract: A zoom lens system for a camera comprises a focusable lens, a variator lens for making a focal length of the lens system variable and a compensator lens for compensating the displacement of its image point caused by the variator lens. A zoom operating sleeve is provided which is rotatable about an optical axis and formed on its inner surface with first and second cam surfaces according to which lens holders for the variator and compensator lenses are respectively controlled in relative movement with the aid of a spring for resiliently urging the lens holders against the cam surfaces.
Abstract: Electromagnetic or solenoid means responsive to load current to automatically shift the brushes of a motor or generator a proper amount so as to maintain satisfactory commutation from light to full load, the brush shifting means including electric solenoid means carrying machine load current, movable brush holding means mounted on antifriction bearings, and mechanically connecting the electric solenoid means mounted on a machine frame means to brush holder means so as to shift brushes in conformity to changing load conditions.
Abstract: An apparatus serving to detect pressure fluctuations in the combustion chamber of an internal combustion engine, including an ionic current sensor, which is exposed to the gases in the combustion chamber and comprises a first electrode and a second electrode, between which a measurement voltage is applied and between which a connecting channel extends from the open combustion chamber into a dead space. In this manner, ionic currents may be detected which are caused by fluctuating pressures in the combustion chamber, particularly when there is engine knocking. Particularly when the geometry of the dead space is adapted to the frequency of the pressure fluctuations which are to be measured, these pressure fluctuations can be detected independently of other, slower pressure variations in the form of a pulsating current which is large when the ion-carrying gas enters the dead space and small when this gas, by now strongly deionized, exits the dead space.

Abstract: A fuel injection installation for internal combustion engines having a plurality of injection valves for supplying fuel to the engine. Each injection valve is sealed to fuel distributing line and to either the intake manifold of the engine, or to the cylinder head of the engine, by at least one O-ring, each O-ring being braced only in the radial direction. Each injection valve is fixed in an axial direction on the fuel distributing line by means of a fastening plate yielding in the radial direction and embodied as bracket-like, which is insertable through appropriately shaped recesses in each insertion nipple on the fuel distributing line and can be snapped into an annular groove of each injection valve. As a result, there is assured not only a secure connection between the fuel distributing line and the injection valves which compensates for axial clearances required for manufacture, but also rapid mounting or dismounting of the fuel injection installation.
Abstract: A fuel injection apparatus for internal combustion engines, in particular food Diesel engines, including a mechanically driven injection pump, preferably embodies as a pump/nozzle assembly, in which the piston speed of the pump piston is variable for the purpose of controlling the peak pressure. By means of a control apparatus, operating in accordance with rpm, the stroke motion which is transmitted from a drive cam to the pump piston is varied by shifting the effective cam range during the fuel supply stroke, or by varying the lever ratio in the drive apparatus of the pump piston in such a manner that the piston speed, which otherwise varies in proportion to the engine speed, remains either substantially constant or is adapted to a predetermined speed variation.
Abstract: An apparatus is proposed which serves to control the ratio of air to fuel quantity of the operational mixture to be introduced into the combustion chambers of an internal combustion engine. The actual fuel quantity supplied via an injection apparatus (2) and the actual air quantity supplied via the intake manifold of the engine are measured and processed in a control apparatus (21) into a correction adjusting variable. The apparatus further functions with exhaust recirculation, with the aspirated fresh air quantity being dosed and the remnant filling of the gaseous filling introduced into the combustion chambers of the engine is replaced by recirculated exhaust gas. For the purpose of dosing the fresh air, a symmetrical throttle valve (14) is disposed in the intake manifold, whose position is transferred by means of pneumatic servomotor (23) to a second throttle device (12, 32), by means of which finally the quantity of the recirculated exhaust gas is determined.
Abstract: A fuel injection system which serves to supply fuel to a mixture-compressing, externally ignited internal combustion engine which includes an air flow rate member for actuating a metering and distribution valve, a flushing valve is disposed in an outlet line leading from each injection valve to a return flow line open when the engine is turned off and immediately after actuation of the ignition switch of the engine, enables a return flow via the outlet lines of the fuel flowing through the fuel supply line and the metering and distribution valve assembly to the injection valves until an electromagnetic valve drivable by a time control element opens a pressure line to a pressure chamber of the flushing valve, and the pressure prevailing in the pressure chamber opens a diaphragm connected to the movable valve parts of the flushing valve in such a manner that the flushing valve closes.

The governor includes parallel coextensive arms, a governor lever and a cooperative governor rod which has a counterstop provided with a sliding block that is movably disposed between the parallel coextensive arms against the initial stressing force of a spring member with the counterstop being arranged to cooperate with a stop means pivotally associated with the housing. The spring member is arranged to load the sliding block and adjustable for the purpose of varying the initial stress and setting the onset of adjustment.

Abstract: An internal combustion engine having an ignition chamber communicating with a main combustion chamber via at least one transfer channel, with the ignition chamber forming a closed circular cylinder and its cylindrical wall being protected by an annular thermal pipe from too-rapid cooling and from overheating. In the wall of the ignition chamber, partial electrodes disposed in an insulated manner are provided which are electrically connectable via spark gaps with each other and with the ignition voltage supply line. As a result, ignition occurs near the wall in an area at an elevated temperature level and, in particular, in the immediate vicinity of the entry point of the fresh fuel-air mixture via the overflow channel so that, as a result, the flammability is maintained with increased leaning of the fuel-air mixture.
Abstract: The fuel-air mixture preparation system of an internal combustion engine is engaged by signals from a plurality of oxygen sensors located in the exhaust system of the engine. More than one sensor is provided to improve the quality of the output signals in unfavorable engine operation. The individual sensors are provided with comparators which make a comparison between the sensor output and a set-point signal. The output signals from the comparators are fed to a logically controlled coupling circuit which presents them in cyclic alternation to an integrating control circuit which provides a control signal to the final control element in the fuel mixture preparation system for changing the fuel-air ratio. The coupling circuit may also provide a signal based on the logical states of the individual sensor signals.
Abstract: A flow rate meter for measuring the flow rate of a fluid medium, especially that of the air aspirated by an internal combustion engine. A hot wire or film is placed in the air stream and is made part of an electrical circuit powered by the output of a differential amplifier. The voltage drop across the resistor is monitored at the input of the differential amplifier where it is compared with fixed or compensated values. In order to reduce the effect that airborne particles, which are deposited on the hot wire or film, have on the measuring characteristics of the apparatus, the wire or film are shaped so that their leading edge constitutes an area much smaller than the surfaces which are substantially parallel to the stream lines.
Abstract: A reading plate has an array of holes in its surface. Rounded ends of rods project selectively through these holes by the action of a set of bimorphous piezoelectric reeds, to which they are coupled. Each reed is connected to a source of electric voltage which can assume two distinct values as a function of an electrical control signal in order to make the piezoelectric reeds bend in one direction or the other. The reading rods are distributed in groups of six and arranged in each group according to the conventional arrangement of dots of a braille character. The transducer can thus provide a relief read-out panel for a pocket electronic calculator for the blind. Methods of using these transducers for recording and readout of magnetic tape with data in Braille-generable form and equipment incorporating them are disclosed.
Abstract: An apparatus is proposed which serves the purpose of controlling the exhaust gas recirculation quantity and the injection quantity in auto-igniting internal combustion engines. In this apparatus, an arbitrarily actuatable throttle valve is provided in the intake manifold, downstream of which a control pressure is withdrawn from the intake manifold and used to actuate a pneumatic adjustment device which determines the position of the quantity adjustment device of a fuel injection pump. This control pressure simultaneously serves to actuate an exhaust gas recirculation valve and acts counter to the force of a restoring spring in the work chamber of a second pneumatic adjustment device.
Abstract: An apparatus is proposed for measuring the mass of a flowing medium, and in particular for measuring the air mass of internal combustion engines. The apparatus includes a resistor arranged in the stream of the flowing medium, the temperature and/or resistance parameter of this resistor being controlled in dependence on the mass of the medium, the extent to which the parameter is controlled being a measure of the mass of the flowing medium. The resistor is an element of a bridge circuit comprising at least one further resistor arranged in the stream of the flowing medium. Also included is a tubular member which has an inner surface defining the flow cross section of the flowing medium. Within this tubular member there is situated a probe ring to which both resistors are mounted to be exposed to the flowing medium. Connected to the tubular member is a terminal box within which a hybrid switching circuit is situated.
Abstract: A moulding apparatus having a two-part mould movable between a receiving station at which thermoplastics synthetic material is extruded into the mould and a release station at which a moulded hollow body is removed from the mould. This hollow body is then supported by a blowing and calibrating member before being gripped by a two-part gripper which moves the body from the release station to a transfer station in synchronism with the mould movement. The gripper parts are mounted on arms or levers supporting and/or guiding the mould parts.
Abstract: An injection timing device is proposed for internal combustion engines, by means of which the mutual rotary position of the output shaft with respect to the input shaft can be varied at least in dependence on the speed. The timing device comprises at least one pair of eccentrics which serve as the adjusting gear system and comprises an adjusting eccentric and a compensating eccentric, this pair of eccentrics being supported in a bearing member connected to one of the shafts, the adjusting eccentric of this pair also being coupled by means of a transmission member with a hydraulically operable servo piston. By a positional change of the servo piston effected by the hydraulic medium, the adjusting eccentric can be rotated to change the instant of injection.

Abstract: The rotary-joint device has the design function of maintaining accurate positioning of the ends of optical fiber conductors during relative rotation of external bodies to which the joint is coupled. The device comprises a male ferrule and a female ferrule so arranged as to form a shaft rotatably mounted within a sleeve with a close but compliant fit, an abutment device for limiting the axial displacement of the sleeve, means for centering the ends of the conductors, and means for securing said ferrules to external connector bodies so as to form a rigid coupling and a semi-rigid coupling respectively.
