Abstract: An electromagnetic final control element is proposed which serves to generate a repeatable rotary motion throughout a limited rotary angle. The electromagnetic final control element includes electrical current supply conductors connected between a plug on the housing and an armature which are formed as elastically deformable conductors secured at one end on an outer roller path body having an outer roller path associated with each current conductor and, on the other end, are secured on an inner roller path body with an inner roller path connected with the armature. Each outer roller path extends eccentrically with respect to the inner roller path whereby the distance between the inner roller path and the outer roller path increases in the roll-off direction of the current conductors from the outer roller path. Thus, it is possible to have an electrical current supply free of retrograde force between the plug and the armature.
Abstract: An internal combustion engine having intake and exhaust valves and a companion piston therefor in a cylinder block is proposed, the piston being provided with several depressions of varying depth and area and interconnected by a guide groove to control flow of the gaseous mixture from one depression to another. A first of the depressions in the piston is located at a distance from the longitudinal axis of the piston and one of the valves has a flat face which is substantially received in the depression. The other depression in the piston also has an axis that is spaced from the longitudinal axis of the piston with the guide groove which communicates with the first depression having a mouth that extends substantially tangentially into said second depression so that the vortex gaseous flow rotates approximately parallel to said piston top about the central longitudinal axis of the second depression toward the end of the compression stroke.
Abstract: A fuel supply system for supplying fuel and for satisfactorily preparing the fuel-air mixture fed to a mixture-compressing, spark-ignited internal combustion engine which comprises an arbitrarily operable throttle element arranged in the air intake manifold wherein fuel can be supplied upstream of this throttle element. The throttle element is mounted on a rocking lever connected to a bearing shaft arranged outside of the air flow at the air intake manifold and is displaceable in the opening direction during full load and at higher speeds against the force of a compensating spring until the throttle element comes into contact, with a full-load stop, with the rocking lever. During full load and at low speeds, the compensating spring displaces the throttle element in the closing direction so that a rather large pressure drop occurs at the throttle element so that an improved conditioning of the injected fuel is obtained.
Abstract: An installation for the operation of electromagnetic loads, especially solenoid valves, in fuel supply systems in internal combustion engines, wherein a measuring resistor as well as a switch are connected in series with the load and the entire arrangement is connected to the two supply voltage terminals. The installation comprises two comparators connected in parallel with the measuring resistor, at least one resistor being connected in front of these comparators, and controllable current source arranged between the junction of the threshold switch and the resistor in the proximity of the load, as well as a supply voltage terminal. The supply voltage of one of the comparators is made dependent on the voltage in the freewheel circuit, to maintain at least one of the comparators in the operating position even during freewheeling operation.

Abstract: An apparatus is proposed which serves the purpose of load-dependent actuation of an adjustment device, wherein the cross section and/or the pressure drop of an exhaust recirculation line in an internal combustion engine can be varied in accordance with load. An injection pump of conventional design is associated with the internal combustion engine and further includes a quantity adjustment device, the position of which acts as a control variable for the load. With this control variable, a booster apparatus is controlled via a comparison apparatus; the output variable of the booster apparatus in turn is the control variable for the actuation of an adjustment device which acts on an exhaust recirculation control apparatus. When a threshold value for load is exceeded, the exhaust recirculation is precluded. The control variable is preferably formed as a fuel pressure signal with the fuel withdrawn from the suction chamber of the injection pump.

Abstract: An injection device is proposed for internal combustion engines whose vane cell pump has two channels 23, 22. Each channel begins at the end portion of the compression recess 21 and discharges into the congruent openings 24, 25 of the support ring 17 and of the receiving ring 16, respectively. These openings are embodied as grooves and are disposed near the rotary wall 28 of the housing 10 of the injection device.
Abstract: Method of butt-welding metal parts by induction, in particular parts of irregular cross-section such as rails, consisting in pressing the parts against one another with an initial pressure for the entire period of heating, in heating them by induction by means of an inductor which encloses the parts parallel to their contours about the plane of their interface, firstly for a first period at a lower frequency and then, for a second period following the first, at a frequency two to four times higher than the first frequency, and, at the end of the second period, in applying the parts against one another at a forging pressure which is from two to more than six times higher than the initial pressure. The quality of the welded joint is greatly improved and the dimensions of the bulge or upset are limited by restricting the depth of the penetration of the induced current to both sides of the interface by means of two short-circuited turns disposed symmetrically relatively to the inductor to either side thereof.
Abstract: An automatic focusing unit of the invention is detachably mounted on a camera having a focusing tube which is adjustable to focus photographic lens on an object to be photographed. The automatic focusing unit includes a lens position detector which is urged to project outwardly from the housing of the unit and come into contact with the focusing tube to detect the position of the lens when the unit is mounted on the camera. The lens position detector is withdrawn into the housing of the unit against a biasing force when an external force is exerted thereon and successfully protected from any damage occurring from erroneous mounting of the unit on the camera.
Abstract: A temperature-dependent resistor or hot wire is extended over at least three anchoring points and to improve the measuring accuracy of the hot wire and to ensure sufficiently high temperatures over the entire active length of the hot wire during a cleaning step by burning, the hot wire is configured in the shape of loops at all anchoring points and the intersecting wire sections of the loops are conductively connected with one another. Current lead wires are preferably conductively attached to the hot wire by means of which the current is conducted to an electric control device.

Abstract: An apparatus is proposed for metering air quantity, particularly for metering induction air quantity in internal combustion engines, which has a temperature-dependent resistor disposed within an air stream, the temperature and/or resistance value of which is regulated in accordance with the air quantity, and with the control value providing a standard for induction air quantity. The temperature-dependent resistor is embodied as a heating wire and is stretched in a V-shape on a carrier member, whereby the temperature coefficient of the carrier member and that of the heating wire are compatible with each other. The stretching of the wire is accomplished with the aid of support elements which are fixed within the carrier member. The heating wire has each end affixed at a support point, while it is guided only loosely over an intermediate support element.
Abstract: A wrap-winding spinning machine for producing wrapped yarns having draw frames for attenuating slivers, wherein one wrap-winding apparatus is associated with each draw frame is proposed, with the wrap winding apparatus further including a high speed rotor and a yarn channel coaxial with the axis thereof, the rotor associated with a driven hollow spindle and a bobbin supported thereon and a balloon limiter supported on the machine frame by upstanding opposed ribs. The bobbin supports a centrally apertured cap device with the cap device having a continuously curved, convex end face with a sharply curved rim that merges with the end disc of the bobbin. The aperture in the cap device is arranged to receive the feed of the winding thread and the sliver as it passes downwardly into the yarn channel and is emitted as a finished wrapped thread.

Abstract: An apparatus for actuating a locking device, security system and the like and for arming and disarming associated alarm systems. The apparatus includes an information carrier, preferably carrying a digitally coded set of data which is presented to a reading device by manual insertion of the data carrier. The data carrier may be a key-like object on which the data track occupies the central tang portion or it may be an actual mechanical key used to operate a tumbler cylinder and additionally provided with a central data track. Preferably, the data track is a series of transparent and opaque fields which are subjected to infrared radiation in the reading device. The read-out data from the data track is compared in the apparatus with stored information and, when coincidence occurs, an actuation signal is generated to operate the associated locking system and/or alarm system.
Abstract: A circuit arrangement for obtaining an interference-free trigger signal such as for a fuel apportionment device from the ignition signal of an internal combustion engine, particularly one having a current-regulated final ignition stage. The output of the circuit arrangement begins when a signal derived from the final ignition stage exceeds a first, high threshold value and is terminated when, after falling below a second, low threshold value, a predetermined time lag period has ended. In this manner, a desired interference-free trigger signal is obtained which can be used to trigger various rpm-dependent circuit arrangements, such as electronic fuel apportionment and gear control.

Abstract: A circuit for detecting failure of a segment in a digital display which includes a comparator connected to the energizing circuit for the display segments so that when a segment fails and is addressed, the comparator output is changed to provide a blanking signal which is fed by a circuit to the blanking input of the display driver for blanking the display. The energizing circuit for the display includes lamp test means, which, after display blanking, is actuated to energize all of the segments thereby permitting identification of the failed segment. Release of the lamp test means activates a timer circuit for providing an override signal for overriding the blanking signal to return the display to normal operation for a predetermined period of time following which the display will be blanked again when the failed segment is again addressed.
Abstract: In order to impart a permanent out-of-plane configuration to a flexible diaphragm, for example a diaphragm used as the valve closing member in a multiple fuel metering valve, the invention provides that the diaphragm material, which may preferably be a rubberized textile web, is held by friction between two cooperating plates while a punch and die set causes deformation of parts of the diaphragm. In order to provide permanence to the deformation, the punch and/or die are heated during the deformation process while the remaining parts of the diaphragm are unheated and may be cooled. In a particular embodiment, the punch and die set imparts a plurality of dish-shaped depressions to the diaphragm; these serve to hold valve closing members for a multiple fuel distribution valve. The permanent depressions serve to hold the valve closing plates without mechanical attachment and/or perforation of the diaphragm and do not add undesirable rigidity to the diaphragm.
Abstract: A fuel supply pump is proposed where the pumping system comprises two individual pumping stages connected in seriatim and are both driven by the motor armature of an electromotor located in a common housing, and further where the drive of the pumping stage adjacent to the electromotor is accomplished by means of a contactless coupling assembly including permanent magnets fixed in the hub areas of the rotating parts of the adjacently disposed pumping stages. In a further preferred embodiment of the invention the permanent magnets are operatively associated by being in radial alignment but not in contact with each other and are separated in a pressure-tight manner by means of a rigid flange-like element inside the housing of the fuel supply assembly.
Abstract: A fuel injection system is proposed which serves to supply fuel to a mixture-compressing, externally ignited internal combustion engine in accordance with operational parameters of the engine. The fuel injection system includes a metallic fuel distributor tube, which communicates via at least one branch line with at least one fuel injection valve, wherein the branch line is embodied as a metal tube and is connected with the fuel injection valve by means of a threaded assembly. The material used for the branch line is easily bendable metal. Between the threaded assembly at the branch line and the fuel injection valve, a thin-walled metallic bellows is provided, by means of which a lateral displacement between the attachment point of the branch line at the fuel distributor tube and the installation point of the fuel injection valve is compensated for, and the noise of operation produced by the fuel injection valve is damped.
Abstract: A respirometer comprises a casing in which a circular chamber is formed. A rotor is mounted for rotation within the chamber and comprises vanes carried by a spindle. A circular wall of glass ceramic material closes an end of the chamber. A pair of aligned radial arms are carried by the spindle between the vanes and the circular wall. Each arm carries a samarium cobalt magnet and rotates with the spindle within a recess in the circular wall. One of the magnets has its north pole adjacent the circular wall and the other has its south pole adjacent the circular wall. A bistable Hall effect sensor is mounted on the opposite side of the circular wall from the rotor with its sensitive region in as close proximity to the rotational path of the magnets as dimensional accuracy will allow.
