The stator is mounted within a casing which forms a gallery which extends circumferentially around the stator, and an inlet which communicates with the gallery at one end and which projects radially outwardly with respect to the stator from that end. Oblique slots are formed in the stator so that fluid flow to be measured is passed from the gallery to the interior of the stator through them. A barrier in the gallery constrains fluid to flow around the gallery in one direction only.

The improved governor comprises an additional idling spring secured on a force transmitting lever which is acted upon by the main control spring and by means of which additional idling spring in the idling setting of the service lever the restoring force of the idling spring on a portion (b) of the idling sleeve path (a) is amplified. This force of the additional idling spring is, however, made at least partially ineffective by a thrust member when the service lever is pivoted into the full-load position.

    Abstract: A brake booster connected to a dual circuit vehicle brake system includes a housing within which there is located a booster piston and an auxiliary piston interconnected so that the displacement of the auxiliary piston in the direction of the booster piston is communicated to the booster piston. This displacement occurs when the pressure in a reservoir, to which the auxiliary piston is exposed, falls below a predetermined level. The displacement communicated to the booster piston in turn displaces the booster piston to a predetermined position which is located relative to a brake pedal push rod so that the brake pedal push rod can execute an idle stroke.

The push rod of the diaphragm control member contacts, in the unpressurized starting position, a stop screw mounted in the lid cover, and, in the pressurized end position, is in contact, by means of a counter stop attached to an extension of the push rod and adjustable in the direction of motion of the push rod, with a second end stop arranged in the pressure chamber. Thus, the bias of the resetting spring can be changed by changing the position of a bearing bushing for the push rod, which bushing serves as an abutment.

    Abstract: An electromagnetic valve for handling fluid media has a valve mechanism which includes at least one valve seat and a valve-closing member which cooperates with the valve seat or seats. The motion of the valve-closing member is controlled by linkage that is connected to the moving arm of an electromagnet, while a return spring urges the armature in the direction opposite to the magnetic force. In order to permit the seating of the armature against a stop at the limit of its energized travel, while exerting a calibrated force on the valve seat, the armature is permitted to travel beyond the point at which the valve-closing member is arrested. The additional motion of the armature takes place against the force of an auxiliary spring which compresses during that part of the motion. When the coil is de-energized, the auxiliary spring urges the armature back into direct contact with the linkage, whereafter the motion transfer is loss-free.

When the reservoir pressure fails, a switchover piston which is subject to the reservoir pressure can disengage a stop for the push rod of the control valve.The push rod is supported on the stop when the pressure supply to the reservoir is intact and after the control valve switches over in the direction of brake activation, in order to give the driver a sense of the added brake force. In the same event, a support of a pedal activation stem on a movable auxiliary cylinder is removed. When the reservoir pressure supply fails, however, this support is made available, in order to enable an immediate mechanical actuation of the main cylinder portion of the brake booster.

    Abstract: An apparatus is proposed for measuring the mass of a fluid medium such as the mass of air induced by internal combustion engines which has at least one temperature-dependent measuring resistor film disposed in the flow of the medium, whose temperature and/or resistance is regulated in accordance with the mass of the medium and wherein the manipulated variable is a measure for the mass of the medium. The temperature-dependent measuring resistor film is disposed on a carrier separated therefrom by an insulating film and a temperature-dependent heating resistor film. The temperature of the heating resistor film is regulated to approximately the same temperature as the temperature-dependent measuring resistor film so that a heat flow between the temperature-dependent measuring resistor and the carrier is prevented. As a result, the response speed of the apparatus to changes in the flow rate of the medium is substantially improved as is the precision of measurement.
