    Abstract: A central digital memory contains data relating values of operational variables of an installation to values of a stored parameter. The central memory is addressed in parallel via input lines carrying the address of the stored data. The address is generated by selecting one of several discrete input lines leading to an address selector memory which contains preliminary addresses related to the various operational states of the installation. A portion of the preliminary address is delivered directly to the central memory whereas another portion is used to preset a counter. If the particular operational state is dependent on another parameter, for example temperature, a temperature-dependent clocking frequency is admitted to the counter and alters its contents which are then used to supplement the first portion of the address already delivered to the central memory. If no temperature dependency exists, the second portion of the address is passed on without change.

    Abstract: A method of printing textile and other surfaces and particularly relates to a transfer sheet comprising a flexible carrier sheet having a design in a drying ink surface which design is not transferable to a receptor material by the application of heat alone and a polymer layer applied over the design so that the application of heat to the transfer sheet causes the polymer layer to adhere to the receptor material so that the carrier sheet can be removed leaving the ink design transferred to the polymer which itself is totally transferred to the receptor material. The invention also includes a method of forming a transfer and a method of decorating a material, particularly a textile material, using the transfers and methods of the invention.

    Abstract: The fuel injection control pulses of an internal combustion engine may be shortened or lengthened to provide operation of the engine at a definite fuel-air ratio. When operation takes place in a leaned-out region, the engine suffers dynamic instability, resulting in rapid fluctuations of the rotational crankshaft velocity, superimposed on regular, periodic changes due to compression changes.The crankshaft speed is tested at two different locations of the angular path by passing markers in front of an inductive transducer. The output signal from this transducer gates the counting input of a digital counter which is supplied with a pulse train at a constant, high frequency. A flip-flop alternately causes upward and downward counting in the counter so that a net difference of counted pulses is formed after each two successive counting periods.

    Abstract: A fuel injection system employing continuous injection into the induction manifold for varying the fuel-air ratio during the warm-up phase of the engine. A pivoting flap responds to the air flow through the induction tube and rotates a metering valve core. Openings in this valve core cooperate with openings in the valve cylinder to form a metering valve aperture of variable cross-section. The pressure differential across this aperture influences the metered fuel quantity and this pressure differential can be varied during the warm-up phase of the engine. The variation in the pressure differential is accomplished by heating a bi-metallic spring which disengages from the closure element of a diaphragm valve, increasing the closing bias thereof.

The throttle element is attached to a bushing which rotates about a pivotal shaft mounted within the induction tube. A control slot in the bushing is covered to varying extent by a control edge on the pivotal shaft so that fuel which enters a groove in the shaft is metered out according to the relative rotation of shaft and bushing. The relative position of the throttle can be adjusted by a pressure cell.

Since the effective area of the cathodes increases as the effective area of the anodes decreases, the opposite motion of the anodes and cathodes tends to equalize the effective areas of the cathodes and anodes in close proximity with one another along the entire length of travel through the tank, thus allowing a higher current density to be maintained, and a high quality deposit on the cathodes.     Abstract: An X-ray machine, especially for mammography, includes an X-ray source and a suitable table or support for the object to be examined. The table is transparent to X-rays and holds sheets of X-ray film or the like to record the transmitted radiation. In addition to a fixed diaphragm which defines a substantially pyramidal primary beam, there are provided three sets of beam-defining slits, one behind the fixed diaphragm, one ahead of the object of examination and one just ahead of the recording medium. These three slits are disposed in geometrical similarity, i.e., their free width increases in proportion to their distance from the source. Furthermore, each of these slits is movable in a plane normal to the main axis of the primary beam. The three slits together define a narrow angular portion of the primary beam and their motion is so coordinated that the narrow beam is scanned across the object from one extreme position to the other.
