  • Patent number: 5974685
Abstract: In a hand drier for drying the hands by blowing hot wind at the extended hands, a drying time is contracted. Unpleasant feelings are avoided by excessively increasing the hot wind temperature.By perceiving the hands extended to the drying portion 2 with a hand sensor 9, the air is sucked by the fan 7 and the air is heated by the heater 8 to discharge the air to the drying portion 2. The Peltier effect element 6 is arranged in a ventilation passage from the air sucking opening 4 to the discharging opening 3 so that the heat sucking side A may be thermally exchanged for the air within the ventilation passage 5, so as to remove the humidity of the air.

  • Patent number: 5969669
Abstract: A method is disclosed for uniquely determining the position of a mobile earth station in a mobile satellite communication system which employs a non-geostationary satellite with a multi-spot beams. A given point of a preknown position on the earth surface is defined as the center coordinate of a three-dimensional coordinate axis, information on the measured distance and Doppler shift amount between a mobile earth station of an unknown position and a non-geostationary satellite is used to repeat the estimation of the position of the mobile earth station a plurality of times, thereby obtaining the position of the earth station with high accuracy.

  • Patent number: 5960681
Abstract: A socket driver, and method of forming the same, is described in which longitudinal protuberances are provided on successive surfaces of the hexagonal cavity for receiving a bit driver. The protuberances create an interference fit with the driven end of the bit driver, the protuberances being so dimensioned that forceful insertion of the bit driver into the hexagonal cavity at least partially deflects the walls portions on which protuberances are formed to thereby slightly deflect the same. The resulting restoring forces create a spring action which semi-permanently secures the bit driver received within the socket driver.

  • Patent number: 5930015
Abstract: An optical access system is disclosed in which subscribers' terminals and optical coupler-splitters of nodes are maintenance-free and required control is effected on the part of the central office alone. At a first position, down-link optical digital signals are generated, which are made "1s" every n bits (n being an integer equal to greater than 2). The optical digital signals, except a train of optical pulses every n bits, are sent as down-link information over a transmission line. At a second position, the optical digital signals, except the optical pulse train, are demodulated from the transmitted down-link optical digital signals, and in an optical gate circuit on which the down-link optical digital signals are incident, up-link optical digital signals based on up-link message data is formed in synchronization with the optical pulses corresponding to every n-th bits and is transmitted to the first position over the transmission line.
