Abstract: A navigator for permitting a presenter to randomly access digitized foils with minimal audience distraction. The navigator includes an on-screen indicator with several fields in a narrow band format that identifies the specific digital foil currently displayed on a presentation medium and also identifies the other digitized foils in the same unit. Using a selector, such as a pointer or keystroke, the presenter can select any other digitized foil within the same unit to replace the current display. To move outside of a specific unit, the presenter simply selects a different unit in the same or a different section within the same module or a different module by selecting other fields displayed on the indicator, again by using a pointer or keystroke. The indicator itself may be hidden from view when not in use, and when in use, may be the same background color as the displayed foil or even be entirely blocked from the audience's view to minimize audience distraction.

Abstract: In a method of manufacturing a semiconductor device which includes a quartz substrate having a z-cut plane of (0001) plane on a surface, a GaN film is first deposited on the surface. Finally, the quartz substrate is removed from the GaN film. The removed GaN film is used as a real substrate for forming GaN based compound semiconductor layers thereon.
Abstract: A radio-communication vehicle identification apparatus includes first and second radio communication units, a directional finding unit, a vehicle classification unit, and a vehicle identification unit. The first radio communication unit is mounted on a vehicle. The second radio communication unit is placed at a gate through which the vehicle passes to perform radio communication with the first radio communication unit. The directional finding unit measures an arrival angle of a radio signal transmitted from the first radio communication unit with respect to a reference direction. The vehicle classification unit detects a length of the vehicle on the basis of image data obtained by photographing the vehicle and classifies the vehicle on the basis of a detection result.
Abstract: A proactive planning methodology and system. The invention reconceptualizes current (delimited) calendar-based planning approaches, where planning is done at fixed or arbitrary times, in favor of a proactive planning methodology which can use information about real time changes in input data used for planning, for determining when a revised plan should be generated. The proactive planning methodology may determine, inter alia, that immediate planning is necessary, or it may schedule the generation of a new plan at some time in the future.

Abstract: A method of ion implantation is provided by utilizing an ion implantation apparatus comprising a disc having a slit, an ion source, and a scanning mechanism for scanning the ion beam by moving the disc two-dimensionally which includes a motor, a stepping motor etc. The quantity of ions in the ion beam is first measured at a plurality of positions along the longitudinal direction of the slit and a plurality of data sets representing the position in the slit and the quantity of ions in the ion beam is provided. The quantity of ions in the ion beam for the ion implantation is adjusted according to the data sets in order to obtain the uniform dose of ions introduced in the wafer surface.
Abstract: A hot pluggable connector of the invention accompanies no physical shock when a circuit package (9) is plugged or unplugged. When the circuit package (9) is inserted, board-side terminals (34) and package-side terminals (52) of the hot pluggable connector are not put in contact. By rotating a rotary body (32) having pads (33A to 33C) of different lengths, sequential connection/disconnection between the board-side terminals (34) and the package-side terminals (52) are performed by way of the pads (33A to 33C). Therefore, it is not necessary to plugging or unplugging the circuit package (9) within a time limit, enabling to insert or remove the circuit package (9) quietly. The timings of the sequential connection/disconnection can be arranged only by arranging length difference of the pads (33A to 33C), enabling to reduce production cost of the hot pluggable connector.
Abstract: The present apparatus is a mobile shopping cart that can automatically keep track of objects selected and carried in the cart and provide a customer using the cart information like the total price of the items carried. The cart has a radio frequency cart base station with a cart antenna connected to a radio frequency cart transceiver. Various novel embodiments of the invention produce a radio frequency field within the shopping cart that is used to communicate with radio frequency tags on objects carried in the cart. The tags contain information about the respective carried object to which the tags are attached. A program function executed by the cart circuit and/or computer controls the cart transceiver to interrogate radio frequency tags within the radio frequency field, i.e. inside the cart to gain information about the carried objects. Tags on objects external to the cart are not interrogated.

Abstract: To operate a dynamic random access memory (DRAM) system faster and to make the DRAM system smaller, a DRAM system includes a DRAM cell array having a first bit line connected to a DRAM cell, wherein the DRAM cell stores a first voltage which is less than a second voltage, and a sense amplifier portion having a second bit line and for amplifying data of the second bit line to the first voltage. The sense amplifier portion connects electrically the first bit line and the second bit line, supplies a third voltage which is greater than the second voltage to the second bit line when the first bit line and the second bit line are connected electrically, and stops supplying the third voltage before a voltage of the second bit line reaches the first voltage.
Abstract: A fabrication process for a complex magnetic head having a reproducing MR head and a recording ID head comprises the steps of forming the MR head, forming an insulator film on the MR head, forming a photoresist frame on the insulator film, forming a top magnetic pole inside the photoresist frame by plating, trimming the top magnetic pole for defining the end width of the ID head while leaving the photoresist frame, and removing the photoresist frame. The photoresist frame protects the underlying films against the trimming and also protects the top magnetic pole film against an etching solution.
Abstract: A clock adjusting circuit is disclosed which is able to adjust automatically both the phase and pulse width of a balanced transmission clock, to be coincident with the reference clock. Phase comparison circuits 13, 14 detect the difference between the phase of a reference clock (REF) and a feedback signal of the clock output. Counters 15, 16 count based on the difference detected by the phase comparison circuits 13, 14, respectively. Delay circuits 11, 12 delay the clock input signals based on the counted value by the counters 15, 16. Clock output signal is obtained after selecting, by the selector 23, the result of OR or AND of the outputs of the delay circuit 11, 12.
Abstract: A system and method using of a trusted third party to provide a description of an information product to potential buyers without disclosing the entire contents of the information products, which might compromise the interests of the seller. The buyer trusts the third party to give an accurate description of the information that is for sale, while the seller trusts the third party not to reveal an excessive amount of the information product's content. The system can include a seller of information products, a buyer of such products, and a trusted third party summarizer, each operating as a node in a communications network, such as the internet.

Abstract: An information processing apparatus of the present invention is, in order to prevent a malfunction by an increase or a decrease of an oscillation frequency of a clock oscillator, provided with redundancy with 2n+1 (n is a positive integer) clock oscillators and includes a counter for counting a clock of each of the clock oscillators. Values of the counters are compared with each other at every certain timing to select a normal clock oscillator, and the clock of the oscillator is used by modules of the information processing apparatus. Accordingly, even if a little disorder in oscillation frequency occurs with any of the clock oscillators, the information processing apparatus continues to operate without stopping and without malfunctioning. Further, a difference between each two values is calculated, and an error is discriminated when the difference is higher than a certain value.
