Abstract: A multi-function clamp has a base plate, a connecting seat connected to the base plate, a pressing seat integrally formed with the connecting seat, an outer cover pivotally connected to the base plate and a rear clip securely engaged with the base plate. Multiple soft pads are securely sandwiched between the base plate and the outer cover to function as shock absorber. Spacers are formed on a rear face of the base plate to keep a distance to the rear clip. Hemispheres are formed on the rear clip to engage with the rear face of the base plate to clamp an object with the rear face of the base plate.
Abstract: An electric power steering apparatus includes a speed reducing mechanism for decelerating the rotation of a rotatable shaft in an electric motor and a converting mechanism for converting the output rotation of the speed reducing mechanism into the axial movement of a steering shaft extending toward the right and left sides of a vehicle. The speed reducing mechanism includes an input pulley driven by the electric motor, an output pulley arranged with the steering shaft enclosed thereby, a belt for connecting the input pulley and the output pulley to each other, and a belt tension adjuster.

Abstract: A power control circuit for an optical information recording device is disclosed. A power sampling signal from a photodiode is transmitted to a peal envelope acquiring circuit and a bottom envelope acquiring circuit and then sampled and held, which is fed-back to a laser diode driving circuit. The laser diode driving circuit alters a driving signal emitted to the laser diode according to the fed-back signal to adjust the power of the optical signal emitted from the laser diode. Therefore, cost is reduced and the power control circuit is particularly suitable for high-speed recordable optical disk drive.
Abstract: An apparatus for positioning a scanning starting point of an image scanning apparatus includes a platen, carriage, and a number of marks. The X-Y coordinate system defined by the platen has an X-axis defined by a first wide margin of the platen and a Y-axis defined by a first long margin of the platen. The carriage moves along the Y direction. The marks inside the image scanning apparatus indicate different Y coordinate values. The method for positioning a scanning starting point of an image scanning apparatus is as follows: the nearest mark to the document to be scanned is first chosen as a reference point. The vector from an image starting point of the document to be scanned to the reference point is then obtained. The carriage finally moves to the reference point chosen as a starting point and proceeds to scan.

The system includes an includes an authentication part which preserves vital information for confirming a user and issues authentication information on the user by collating vital information supplied from outside through a network with the preserved vital information, and a payment part of a financial institution which, upon receiving the authentication information on the user issued by the authentication part, performs the payment admission of an amount to be paid to a provider server which provides a commodity or a service to the user through the network.
Abstract: A lash-eliminating device for a worm-and-gear assembly. The worm-and-gear assembly includes a worm and a worm gear engaged therewith. The lash-eliminating device comprises a base, a frame, a motor, and a biasing member. The worm gear is disposed on the base. The frame is disposed on the base in a rotatable manner. The motor is disposed in the frame, and includes an output shaft. The output shaft is connected to the worm. The biasing member is disposed on the base in a manner such that the biasing member abuts the frame. Thus, when the worm is rotated by the motor via the output shaft so as to rotate the worm gear, the frame is rotated by the biasing member so that the worm is moved relative to the worm gear to eliminate a lash between the worm and the worm gear.

Abstract: An electronic apparatus capable of using an external power source and a power source from a bus, such as a universal serial bus (USB) power source, is disclosed. The external power source and the USB power source output a first and a second operating voltage to the electronic apparatus, respectively. The electronic apparatus includes a first group of devices operative at the first operating voltage, a second group of devices operative at the second operating voltage, and an input power control circuit. The input power control circuit is coupled to the first and second groups of devices, and is capable of being coupled to the external and the USB power sources. The input power control circuit is used for controlling the first and the second operating voltages in order to feed the first and second groups of devices with the first and the second operating voltages, respectively.
Abstract: A heat-dissipation device adopted for a safety helmet which includes a heat-transfer unit that functions as a heat pipe, a heat-dissipation unit connecting to the heat-transfer unit, a vent formed in a front of the heat-dissipation unit that can be closed and opened alternatively by a shutter unit in order to adjust the capacity of heat-dissipation thereof, and a covering unit made of insulative materials and spreading over the heat-dissipation unit. Whereby the heat-transfer unit provides a kind of two-phase flow that is capable of conducting heat rapidly, so as to remove heat gathered in the helmet and improve the comfort level for the wearer.

Abstract: An ultraviolet-and-ozone disinfection apparatus 200 providing an improvement on disinfection, includes a disinfection tank 202, a mercury UV lamp 210 enclosed by a quartz tube 208 for generating UV light with air trapped between them undergoing UV irradiation to generate ozone, an ozone transmitting tube 216, a spiral water transmitting tube 215 wrapping around the quartz tube in a spiral manner to achieve sufficient disinfection by mixing ozone in water, a sleeve barrel enclosing the spiral tube. Along the entire flow path, water is exposed to UV radiation to achieve sufficient disinfection and reduce excessive ozone that is harmful to human health.
Abstract: A method for obtaining relative positional relationships between a read-only head for reading data from an original disk and servo heads on each surface of magnetic disks (copy disks), in a magnetic data writing apparatus (disk servo writer) that stacks copy disks and an original disk to rotate the disks unitarily. The apparatus includes a rotary positioner on the periphery of the copy disks and a read-only disk, stacking the read-only head and servo heads rotatably. The apparatus causes the servo heads simultaneously to write servo data to respective assigned track ranges. The method includes stacking calibration disks storing servo data in place of the copy disks in a coaxial relation with the read-only head, in advance of writing magnetic data to the copy disks.

Abstract: A CMOS image sensor that outputs signal data before outputs reset data, and a driving method therefor. The CMOS image sensor includes a pixel sensor, a data I/O line, a double sampling circuit and an output circuit. The pixel sensor generates signal data and reset data. The signal data has a voltage level depending on an amount of photo-charge produced in response to energy received externally. The reset data is produced in a reset mode. The data I/O line transfers the generated signal data and the reset data. The double sampling circuit samples the signal data and then the reset data, from the data I/O line, and drives an output terminal. The output circuit outputs data related to a voltage level of the output terminal.

Abstract: A blade server system with integrated KVM switches is described. The blade server system has a chassis, a management board, a plurality of blade servers, and an output port. Each of the blade servers has a decoder and a switch. Each of the blade servers further has a select button and a processor. The decoder receives an encoded data from the management board and decodes the encoded data into command information when one of the blade servers is selected. The switch receives the command information and is switched according to the command information. The command information indicates which switch is to be turned on and which are to be turned off. The output port connects the peripheral devices for controlling the selected blade server. The management board may determine which blade server is to be selected by the button condition, commands from the peripheral devices or a request from a network computer.
