  • Patent number: 6966210
Abstract: A tool for flanging coated brake pipes has a basic body with a receiving groove and a clamping jaw with a clamping groove. The receiving groove and the clamping groove form a clamping channel, in which the brake pipe can be received snugly. To achieve the snug hold of the brake pipe without unacceptable deformations as well as the coaxial alignment of this brake pipe in relation to a pressure piece of the basic body, by which the flanged head is formed, different surfaces of the receiving groove and of the clamping groove are provided. Thus, the surfaces may be provided with a surface roughness with an arithmetic average peak-to-valley height Ra of 5.0 to 10.0.

  • Patent number: 6967963
Abstract: A telecommunication method for providing packets to at least one of a first and a second network are described. A telephone set connects the first network to the second network. The telephone set forwards packets received from one network to the other network, generates packets from signals locally inputted into the telephone set and forwards such generated packets to at least one of the networks, and performs actions prescribed by packets received by and addressed to the telephone set. Packets addressed to the telephone set may or may not be forwarded. On-time delivery of voice data packets is ensured by limiting the time that such packets can await transmission onto the network. When the time for forwarding a voice data packet exceeds a permitted time limit, that packet can be replaced by a new packet. The new packet can include the same or different data as the replaced packet.

  • Patent number: 6964159
Abstract: The invention relates to a new method and system for optimizing the efficiency of an automotive catalytic converter. The claimed invention comprises adjusting an air/fuel ratio in the cylinders of an internal combustion engine to maintain a desired level of oxidants in the catalytic converter. At various times, the actual amount of oxidants stored in the catalytic converter is determined. The actual oxidant amount is compared to a target amount of oxidants to be stored in the catalytic converter. The air/fuel ratio in the cylinders is adjusted based on magnitude of the difference between the actual oxidant amount and the target oxidant amount to prevent NOx and hydrocarbon breakthrough.

  • Patent number: 6964160
Abstract: The invention relates to a new method and system for optimizing the efficiency of an automotive catalytic converter by adjusting the engine air/fuel ratio based on estimates of the actual amount of oxidants stored in the catalyst. The oxidant storage capacity of the catalyst is adjusted by controlling engine spark in response to an estimate of a current amount of oxidants stored in the catalyst and an estimate of the total available oxidant storage capacity of the catalyst. To maintain engine speed in spite of adjustments to the engine spark, the engine air mass is also adjusted.

  • Patent number: 6962139
Abstract: A method for controlling an engine having both an electronically controlled inlet device, such as an electronic throttle unite, and an electronically controlled outlet device, such as a variable cam timing system is disclosed. The method of the present invention achieves cylinder air charge control that is faster than possible by using an inlet device alone. In other words, the method of the present invention controls cylinder air charge faster than manifold dynamics by coordination of the inlet and outlet device. This improved control is used to improve various engine control functions.

  • Patent number: 6963829
Abstract: A bridge board connects a TMS470 processor evaluation module and a TMS320C54XX processor evaluation module. The bridge board performs translation of signal formats on both of the boards and also synchronizes the signal formats on both boards so that both boards are able to operate together. With this bridge board, and its specific connections to both of the evaluation modules, a single workstation, preferably connected to the TMS470 module is able to not only control the TMS470 module but also the TMS320 module. Software for the TMS320 can be loaded from the workstation through the TMS470 module, through the bridge board and into the TMS320 module. The software in both of the evaluation modules can then operate and interact with each other through the bridge board.
