Abstract: As a device for straightening of letters and similar flat transported articles upon passage from a free wheeling section with a bottom conveyor belt to a cover belt section, whereby the letters are transported upright on a lengthwise edge and generally at the transition to the cover belt section are shifted in the vertical direction between the side belts of the free wheeling section by running against the bottom belt, a guide plate is provided at either side in the letter displacement zone, the plate has a step extending parallel in the direction of transport of the side belts and has a width equalling the thickness of a side belt, for the purpose of avoiding tearing of the letter flaps. The guide plates extend to the upper edge of the side belts and, by the flutter-free movement of the side belts, achieve a smooth sliding of the letters between the side belts.
Abstract: The invention comprises a process for treating contaminated earth with different organic and inorganic substances, such as for example benzene, toluene, naphthalene, phenols and other mono- and polycyclic or aliphatic oxygen-, nitrogen- and sulphur-containing hydrocarbon compounds as well as simple and complex inorganic or organic salts. The invention concerns a combination of the following processing stages: (a) homogenization and comminution of the contaminated earth with an addition of treated recycled water to obtain a pumpable suspension; (b) treatment of the suspension in a single- or multi-stage extraction process in counter-current with warm or hot recycled water according to the principle of increased dissolving power at high temperatures (over 100.degree. Abstract: A method of manufacturing a parachute having a canopy with an outer peripheral skirt and a plurality of spaced apart attachment points comprises selecting one of the attachment points as a starting point and winding a continuous fiber from the starting point to other attachement points until a net of reinforcement fiber is formed among the attachment points. A canopy is then attached to the resulting reinforcement net. Nonporous material can be used for the canopy because of the strong reinforcement achieved.
Abstract: For the measurement of gas, vapor, or aerosol fractions of a measured gas, the fraction to be determined is absorbed in a reaction solution, and a change of resistance from a reaction between the fraction and the reaction solution is determined as the measured variable by an ohmmeter, using electrodes in the reaction solution. The measured gas entering a test container through a sealing unit tight to the reaction solution and passing the medium to be determined, is improved with regard to all-purpose use and convenient measurement. This is done pursuant to the invention by placing the reaction solution in a disposable test container that can be inserted or connected interchangeably to the measuring device which has electrodes. The test container is sealed, at least at one end, with a sealing unit that is permeable to the medium to be determined and impermeable to the reaction solution.
Abstract: Reflector telescope, consisting of a tube (2) disposed in a spherical casing (1) and an outer framework (4) in which the spherical casing (1) is mounted. In known reflector telescopes, the tube is rotatable about its polar and declination axis, requiring two different driving systems. Moreover, access to the spherical casing is variable according to the position of said casing. These disadvantages are avoided by mounting the spherical casing (1) within the outer framework (4) to rotate about a horizontal axis (8), and by mounting said framework on a base to rotate about a vertical axis (50). Fixed and permanent access to the spherical casing (1) and therefore to the tube (2) is thus ensured, and the provision of a driving force for the spherical casing (1) is easily achieved.
Abstract: A spindle mounted accessory holder block is fixed to extend across the nose of the tool machine at a spaced location from the main bore of the rotatable spindle in which the main operating device is positioned. The block has an outer face with a plurality of seats defined therein each being spaced at a specific radial distance from the main bore and each providing a mounting for a pin holder of an accessory mechanism. For this purpose the block is provided with two or more inwardly extending seats each having holes therein forming passages providing the connection for a medium associated with the accessory, for example, compressed air or similar fluid. The holes in the seats of the block provide means for mounting a pin or pipe connection for the accessory which may be positioned at a spaced radial location from the main operating mechanism by mounting it in a selective hole of the block.

Abstract: A method of scaling a harmonic coefficient is employed, and envelope smaller in number than the number of harmonic orders are produced. One of the envelope is selected for each harmonic order and output as a scaling value. This enables the production of a musical tone imitative of a desired one, decreases the number of envelope generators needed, and permits simplification of the entire system configuration and signal processing.
Abstract: A side channel blower, preferably for burners for cleaning soot particle filters mounted in exhaust gas lines of vehicles by burning off, is shown, in which a chamber housing (6) with a chamber (5) is arranged on the air discharge side, wherein air flows into said chamber from the side channel blower (1) and said chamber permits adjustable return of air from said chamber into the annular channel (8) via a bypass (12, 13) and return of additional air, also into said annular channel (2), via an air transfer channel (9) that can be closed with a valve (16), and the air delivered can be fed from said chamber to the filters for cleaning by burning off via two air discharge openings (8a, 8b), which can be closed such that one discharge opening is open and the other discharge opening is closed.

The floor plate is provided with a bore such that the convex portion may be hooked into the bore for positioning the floor plate. A ledge portion is provided extending outwardly from the restriction wall portion. The ledge portion includes an undersurface which is inclined from an outer edge of the ledge portion downwardly to the restriction wall portion. The bore of the floor plate is formed to be larger than the convex portion to define a gap between the bore and the convex portion when the convex portion is hooked into the bore.
Abstract: In order to carry out the three-position selection of needles, that is, for floated stitch, retained stitch and discharged stitch, in either direction of rotation of the needles cylinder of a circular knitting machine with alternate motion for the production of socks with inlay patterns a cylinder is provided with needles and underneedles, and with pusher jacks provided with a heel (7,8) at both ends and engaged to a rear, centrifugal action spring. Two oscillating selectors vertically superimposed and symmetrically disposed with respect to the horizontal separation line are provided. Two electromagnets are provided vertically superimposed for the selection of said oscillating selectors. Such selection apparatus it is possible to reduce the diameter of the needles cylinder to less than 4" with a fineness above 120 needles and to work at a speed higher than the one presently allowed.
Abstract: A miniature motor with a worm reduction gear comprising a miniature motor having a motor shaft, which is of a relatively small diameter and which is extended to a predetermined length, at least three bearings supporting the motor shaft, and a worm having a shaft hole into which the motor shaft is inserted. Since the miniature motor and the worm reduction gear are manufactured separately, and subsequently assembled together by press-fitting the motor shaft in to the shaft hole of the worm the assembly of the miniature motor with a worm reduction gear is facilitated. The use of a motor shaft having a diameter smaller than the diameter of the worm helps reduce the size and weight of the miniature motor with a worm reduction gear.
Abstract: A frame having a substantially L-shaped configuration for supporting a vehicular hood, the frame being provided with holding portions for turnably holding the frame on a vehicular body at both the ends and a fixing portion for fixing the frame to the vehicular body by engaging the fixing portion with a fixing member on the vehicular body at the central part thereof, wherein the frame is provided further with a handle in the vicinity of a bent portion thereof, the handle being connected to two points on the frame so as to allow it to be actuated from the inside of a vehicle.
