  • Patent number: 4754720
Abstract: In the process for manufacture of seat covers with honeycomb cells, a plain and folded segment of a cover material is introduced by means of a fold forming traveler into a first of several grooves of a foam plastic panel and after the traveler is retracted, the fold of cover material is sewn to the foam panel. Then, a new segment of the cover material is folded back over the seam by the traveler in the direction of the adjacent second groove and, after forming a fold, is sewn in this groove. In the seat covers produced by this process, the seams are fully concealed by the cover material.

  • Patent number: 4754673
Abstract: In a self-centering steady rest (1) with three holding members (12,13,14) acting upon a workpiece (2) to be chucked, an adjusting member (15) interacting with the two outer holding members (13,14) is adjustable in the longitudinal direction (A) of the central holding member (12) by an adjustable distance corresponding to the sum of respective deformations of the outer holding members. This makes it possible to compensate not only the elastic deformations of the two outer holding members (13,14), but all back rest components involved in the transmission of forces. Consequently, reproducible centered chucking of the workpiece (2) can be accomplished at all times with great chucking accuracy.

  • Patent number: 4753955
Abstract: Benzimidazole derivatives of the general formula [I] are provided: ##STR1## wherein R.sup.1 is hydrogen, methyl or methoxy, and R.sup.2 and R.sup.3 each is hydrogen or methyl, at least one of R.sup.1, R.sup.2 and R.sup.3 being a member other than hydrogen. The benzimidazole derivatives exhibit an excellent activity of inhibiting the potassium ion-dependent adenosine triphosphatase, as well as a good stability during storage. Therefore, the benzimidazole derivatives are usable for the treatment of gastric and/or duodenal ulcers.

  • Patent number: 4753152
Abstract: To brake a sabot accelerated in a launcher of a recoiless rifle tube a mandrel shaped braking sleeve is disposed in the tube and an intermediate space is provided between a tapered surface of the mandrel and the tube into which the material of the front edge of the sabot expanded. In this way when the sabot is accelerated against the mandrel, its front edge slides along the tapered surface, radially outwardly into the intermediate space. This functions to deform and positively stop the movement of the sabot before it leaves the tube.

  • Patent number: 4750550
Abstract: The present invention provides a novel method for the transfer of heat energy which comprises producing the vapor of a heat-transfer medium at a heat generation place 1, transporting the resulting heat-transfer medium vapor to an absorption tank 4, allowing it to be absorbed into an absorption fluid containing an absorbent and thereby raising the temperature of the resulting liquid mixture of the heat-transfer medium and the absorption fluid to a temperature higher than that of the heat-transfer medium vapor, utilizing the heat of the liquid medium thus obtained, separating it into a heat-transfer medium and an absorption fluid by means of a semipermeable membranous material, and recycling and reusing them as the heat-transfer medium and the absorption fluid, respectively. This method for the transfer of heat energy permits energy of high quality to be transferred with high thermal efficiency and, in particular, permits low-pressure steam to be transported efficiently and stored with little loss of heat.

  • Patent number: 4749202
Abstract: A sealing and guide unit for pistons comprising an energized elastic ring placed into a corresponding cavity or groove and a rigid antifriction ring fitted on said elastic ring and projecting at both its sides to cover the extended borders of said cavity or groove. The section of said-rigid ring being very small the radial thrust of said energized elastic ring produces a curvature in the direction of its cross section so that only the central portion of the ring will adhere with a limited friction to the inner surface of the piston chamber, while the lateral portions of the ring are supporting the lubricating effect.

  • Patent number: 4748930
Abstract: A device for indicating the presence of a gas includes a closed housing having an interior wall with a color indicator disk on one side wall and an opposite wall having an opening with an inflow pipe for the inflow of the gas to be detected. The interior of the housing forms a flat measuring chamber having the side wall with the detector disk of a size comparable to the length and diameter of the inflow pipe so as to form a diffusion area across which a mass transport of the gas to be detected takes place, that is, largely independent of air currents. The color indicated disk advantageously has a circular periphery and the inflow pipe is of cylindrical section and it is smaller than one-fifth the diameter of the measuring chamber having the disk. Advantageously, the length of the pipe section is less than the thickness of the measuring chamber.

  • Patent number: 4749587
Abstract: In the previously used methods for the deposition of layers on surfaces by means of chemical reactions with gases, which are introduced into the reaction room or chamber (chemical vapor deposition, CVD), electrical glow discharge and mainly high-frequency discharges were used for the activation of the reactants. According to the invention, the maintaining of a low-voltage arc discharge in the reaction room during the coating is recommended. The surprising result of this is a considerably stronger activation and ionization and a more uniform coating also on surfaces of complex shape.

  • Patent number: 4747358
Abstract: The surgical suturing machine comprises a housing (10) on whose head piece (14) a needle holder (16) holding a needle (30), a thread catcher (18), a rotatable cylindrical body (20), a fixed foot with a plate (70) and a stretcher (22) are releasably mounted. The projecting tissue edges to be sutured together are clamped between plates (70) and cylindrical body (20). When the surgical suturing machine advances, the shaped circumferential surface (78) of cylindrical body (20) rolls along the outside of one edge of the tissue. The circumferential surface (78) of the rotating cylindrical body "grips" the outer surface of one tissue edge and guides the two tissue edges into a clamping zone which is located in the vicinity of the shortest distance between plate (70) and circumference (78) of the cylindrical body (20). The projecting tissue edges are pierced by needle (30) in the clamping zone and sutured together with the aid of thread catcher (18) and needle (30 ).
