Method and apparatus for determining ice boundary temperature for the de-icing system of an aircraft
Patent number: 4638960Abstract: A method of determining the temperature, preferably the ice boundary temperature, of an electrical resistive heating element of a de-icing system for airplanes, helicopters, and the like, preferably for a fully automatic control of the heating times of the heating elements. Additional temperature sensors are avoided and circuitry costs are substantially reduced by using the resistive heating elements themselves for determining the temperature. The resistance variation due to temperature variations of an element is ascertained by a current-voltage measurement, and a temperature variation of the element is determined from the resistance variation while using the temperature coefficient. The current-voltage measurement may be based on Ohm's law with a following analog or digital processing of the signal.Type: GrantFiled: March 8, 1985Date of Patent: January 27, 1987Assignee: Licentia Patent-Verwaltungs-GmbHInventors: Axel Straube, Hans Loos -
Patent number: 4637386Abstract: A ventilation system with positive and negative ventilation pressures controllable through a control unit is to be improved with respect to its adaptability, in particular in the generation of high pulse repetition frequencies above the natural breathing frequency. A gas transport element is provided in connection with a ring line which contains an inhalation valve in an inspiration branch and an exhalation valve in an expiration branch. The desired improvement is obtained by the fact that the gas transport element is arranged in the ring line with constant direction of delivery. Patent number: 4638289Abstract: An accident data recorder for short-time recordation and storage of data and events relating to an accident of motor vehicles, comprising pickups for sensing, for example, wheel revolutions to determine the travelled distance and speed of the vehicle. In addition to these wheel sensors, capacitance-based acceleration sensors are provided whose output signals along with the output signals of the wheel sensors and with other status data relating to the operation of the vehicle, are continuously recorded at storage locations of a fixed storage. For this purpose, an addressing logic is provided which operates in a closed counting loop and, as soon as a final address is reached, jumps back to the starting address to overwrite the initially stored data. This cyclic data storage is interrupted by the occurrence of a trigger event defining an accident, with the result that the last recorded data, including a predetermined after-travel time, are freezed.Type: GrantFiled: October 23, 1984Date of Patent: January 20, 1987Assignee: Licentia Patent-Verwaltungs-GmbHInventor: Edmund Zottnik

Patent number: 4637321Abstract: The known built-in ironing boards are disposed on a pull-out which is movably mounted in ways so it can be swung via parallelogram guide arm pairs from a lower position at rest into an upper working position. When ironing on such an ironing board, the pull-out must be pulled out first, whereupon the ironing board must be brought into the working position and locked therein. To facilitate handling, there is now provided a naturally flexible member in the form of a flexible connector such as a wire rope which is effective only when the pull-out is extended, in which position it connects the ways, or a part fixed thereto, to the ironing board. Shortly before the end of the pull-out motion of the pull-out, the ironing board is retained by the wire rope so that the parallelogram guide arm pair pivots upwardly, bringing the ironing board into its working position without requiring additional manipulations to accomplish this.Type: GrantFiled: January 18, 1985Date of Patent: January 20, 1987Assignee: Hafele KGInventors: Georg Hasler, Rudiger Walz

Patent number: 4636485Abstract: Pt catalyst on a substrate provides an air purification particularly for carbon oxide contained in the inhaled air is caused to react with air oxygen on the surface of carbon oxide catalysts and thus removed. But it is desirable for many air filter applications to eliminate, in addition to CO, other harmful gases from the air also. The Pt catalyst used as gaskmask filter material offers, particularly, but little protection additionally against acid gases. Due to an additional impregnation with the oxides of amine-forming heavy metals, the separating powers for acid gases is increased extraordinarily without reducing the capability of the Pt catalyst to oxidize CO catalytically. There even results an intensification of the respective effectiveness.Type: GrantFiled: February 13, 1985Date of Patent: January 13, 1987Assignee: Dragerwerk AGInventor: Carl-Ernst van der Smissen
