Abstract: A hydraulic vibration damper is intended for resilient bearings in motor vehicles and comprises in a housing an inner space which is divided by a partition into a working space above and a lower equalization space, with the two spaces being connected to each other by flow apertures in the partition and their volumes being variable. The partition encloses a horizontal flow channel communicating with the working space and the equalizing space, respectively, through connecting holes which are offset relative to each other. In addition, valve apertures with closing bodies are provided in the partition, which close automatically under increased pressure in the working space.
Abstract: In a group of conveyor belts feeding articles to a manipulating machine, articles on a first belt are to be transferred to predetermined locations on a second belt. To obviate to incorrect positioning of an article on a first belt with respect to the second belt, affecting the transfer regularity, a digital signal representing the position of the second belt is stored whenever an article arrives on the first belt. An error signal is obtained from the stored signal whenever an incorrect positioning is detected, and is fed to members controlling the motion of the first belt to temporarily correct the belt speed and hence the position of the article with respect to the second belt. At each adjustment, the error signal is progressively reset by feedback signals.
Abstract: A turning machine is characterized by a new and improved control and mechanism for positioning the turning tool on the head. A CNC control issues command signals for selectively positioning the tool on the head. These signals are developed from an encoder which provides the instantaneous position of the rotating part being turned and from a program in the CNC containing information about the part. A closed loop control system receives these command signals and converts same into a control current for a linear motor which is the prime mover controlling the positioning of the tool on the head. The linear motor operates a carriage on the head and the cutting tool mounts on the carriage opposite the connection of the linear motor to the carriage. The carriage is a hollow bar guided on the head by sets of rollers which are cooperatively arranged to provide yieldably forceful constraint of the bar.
Abstract: An operating structure of an electrical switch is an assembly comprising a contact arm part, a fixed contact part and an insulating part preferably sandwiched therebetween. The contact arm part and the fixed contact arm are made of electrically conducting material. The insulating part is preferably of a thermoplastic material. The contact arm part and the fixed contact part are provided each with two securing holes. To assemble the three parts, the material of the insulating part in its portions associated with the securing holes is locally brought into a plastic state and bulged out through the securing holes. Then, the bulges are flattened, clinched or the like, at the other side to form a structure which is joined by quasi-rivets of plastic. The manufacture of this structure takes place in a timed sequence with suitable stamping and forming tools.

An area under this curve is calculated and gives a measurement of the swimming effectiveness.
Abstract: The invention relates to a quill for coordinate measuring machines of square cross-section and guided by a total of eight bearing parts within a guiding part. Three bearing parts which bear against quill surfaces are located adjacent the upper and in the lower ends of the guide surfaces in the guiding part. Two more bearing parts are provided in a Z direction approximately between the upper and lower bearing parts. Due to the special configuration of the bearing parts relative to each other and the horizontally acting springs inserted in certain bearing parts the twisting of the quill is determined and also the specified quill twisting accuracy of two angular seconds max. is obtained.

The top part of the sheath thus forms the choker (52), which is connected to the bottom part (41) of the discharge pipe. The discharge pipe (4) has a cross-sectional area larger than that of the choker (52). The discharge pipe (4) is curved, and its radius of curvature (R) is constant. The discharge pipe (4) is formed of two parts, i.e.
Abstract: A rotating machining head for automatic tool machines has suction ducts for dust placed inside the head device. This permits the head to have a substantially rounded shape with a minimum encombrance, which is equal in all directions and for any positioning of the head.
Abstract: The launching apparatus, including a stayed metallic beam, is provided with two poles, one of which rests on the plank in correspondence of the last pier of the already formed bridge and the other rests on a cantilever end of said bridge length, bracket-like projecting beyond said pier; between the two poles connection stays are provided parallel to each other, either horizontal or inclined, whereas inclined stays are anchored at each of the two poles and at the corresponding length of the metallic beam which is external to the pair of poles.
Abstract: In medical apparatus, an accurate and quickly responding metering is required for admixing anesthetic gases. The gas pressure must not be a disturbing factor. A gas metering device comprises a metering unit connected to the gas source and delivering the metered gas through an outlet. A control is effected through an electrically operated control unit having a desired value input section and a display section. The gas enters into an inlet buffer of the metering unit and passes therefrom into a pressure space and simultaneously, through a change -over valve 11 in normal position, into a measuring space. In its switched position, a change over valve establishes connection to the outlet. In the outlet line a switch valve is provided closing in its normal position and opening in its switched position. The pressure space and the measuring space are connected to each other through a differential pressure sensor.
Abstract: A portal type coordinate measuring machine includes a column on each side of a measuring table which is movable by a synchronous belt drive connected to each column. A drive motor is centrally mounted on a bridge portion overlying the columns and it drives a horizontal shaft which extends to each column and effects the rotation of a drive pinion which engages a gear belt which extends parallel to each column and is carried by the column. The drive includes a toothed belt or gear belt which is disposed parallel to the guiding ways for the columns and has its ends firmly clamped on the bridge and an active central portion which extends around a drive pinion which is tensioned on respective sides of the drive pinion by tension rolls.
Abstract: A braking device for strip material particularly for a sewing machine which sews a garment requiring ruffling comprises a fixed guide over which the strip material such as tape is fed. A resilient member overlies the fixed guide and it is engaged by a multi-step cam plate mounted for rotation about an axis so that a plurality of flat sides thereof may be selectively engaged against the resilient member to force it against the material passing on the guide so as to apply a selected braking force thereto. The resilient member advantageously comprises a leaf spring and the multi-step cam plate includes a plurality of engagements surfaces arranged at different distances from the central axis of its rotation which may be positioned by a hand knob control to bear against the resilient member and effect the varying braking of the tape being fed.

Depending on the purpose of use, a different flame guiding insert is arranged between the combustion space and the combustion chamber.
Abstract: A system for videoconferencing saves travel time and money. To enable participants to see each other continually and simultaneously, and to show documents and objects, equipment is needed, the costs of which vary with the number of locations to be interconnected, and with measures taken for reducing the needed transmission capacity and the outfit of each terminal. As in known videoconference systems, such as studio, or working place systems, the video and audio signals are switched and/or mixed in the inventive system. The necessary equipment, however, is no longer needed at the respective locations, if a central station for videoconferencing is provided which includes this equipment only in a volume actually necessary for the conference. Each of the connected participant locations only comprises terminal units, the same which are needed for a picture telephone system. In addition, both the video and the audio reception can individually be controlled from each location.

Abstract: A rapid, accurate and simple method is disclosed for determining an index of freshness of fish and mollusks. The index of freshness is expressed as the ratio of the combined molar concentration of inosine and hypoxanthine to the total molar concentration of the decomposition products of adenosine triphosphate. Each concentration is determined electrochemically from the amount of hydrogen peroxide produced when a sample extract from fish or mollusks is subjected to the action of certain enzymes. The emzymes used for inosine and hypoxanthine concentration are nucleoside phosphorylase and xanthine oxidase and for the concentration of the decomposition products of adenosine triphosphate are alkaline phosphatase, adenylic acid kinase, AMP deaminase and adenosine deaminase in a crude extract obtained from calf intestine, nucleoside phosphorylase and xanthine oxidase. Sodium azide may be added to the sample extract to inhibit errors in measurement caused by the presence of catalase.
