Abstract: A code division multiple access user equipment is used in receiving a plurality of data signals over a shared spectrum. Each received data signal experiences a similar channel response. A combined signal of the received data signals is received over a shared spectrum. The combined signal is sampled at a multiple of the chip rate. A channel response is estimated. A first element of a spread data vector is determined using the combined signal samples and the estimated channel response. A factor from the first element determination is used to determine remaining elements of the spread data vector. Data of the data signals is estimated using the determined elements of the spread data vector.

Abstract: A method of implementing fast dynamic channel allocation call admission control for radio link reconfiguration in a wireless communication system includes a pre-code allocation procedure, a signal-independent code allocation procedure, and a post-code allocation procedure. The pre-code allocation procedure receives and processes a request message and retrieves system measurements and wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) capability information from a centralized database. A list of available timeslots and a list of code sets is retrieved from the centralized database. The code sets are allocated to the available timeslots, wherein a successful assignment is a solution. The solution having the lowest weighted interference signal code power is an optimal solution. The WTRU information with new allocation information is updated in the centralized database. A radio link reconfiguration ready message with the results of the code allocation process is then sent.
Abstract: A order matching system which allows users to define and modify buy/sell order schedules for execution within one or more transaction destinations. The system uses order schedules and associated evaluation heuristics to evaluate and update order characteristics such as price and quantity based on user-specified criteria. The matching system comprises a user interface which can be connected over the internet to various transaction destinations through a schedule manager and a transaction order interface. The user interface provides users with the ability to obtain information concerning the status of their order account as well as the ability to enter or modify their order schedules. The order manager uses a schedule supervisor server to maintain a database containing order schedules and order status information and to execute variable evaluations on the basis of these order schedules and associated evaluation heuristics.

Abstract: A transmitter site transmits a plurality of data signals over a shared spectrum in a code division multiple access communication system. Each transmitted data signal experiences a similar channel response. A combined signal of the transmitted data signals is received. The combined signal is sampled at a multiple of the chip rate. The channel response for the combined signal is determined. A first element of a spread data vector is determined using the combined signal samples and the estimated channel response. Using a factor from the first element determination, remaining elements of the spread data vector are determined. The data of the data signals is determined using the determined elements of the spread data vector.

Abstract: An input/output circuit in a receiving mode typically has disabled output buffers as well as other electrical components that provide significant receiver input capacities at high operating frequencies. A detection circuit detects the charging/discharging of the parasitic capacitance and operates a regulating circuit to compensate for the charging/discharging of the parasitic capacitance during rising/falling edges of an input signal, thereby correcting for impedance mismatch and reflection glitches.
Abstract: The present invention discloses a circuit that generates a variable frequency pulse width modulation (VF PWM) signal. Different from the conventional PWM controller, the frequency and duty cycle of the output PWM signal vary with the error-amplified voltage of the feedback loop simultaneously in this invention. The higher the error-amplified voltage of the feedback loop is, the lower the duty cycle with lower frequency will be. A very low duty cycle PWM signal can be generated stably while its frequency is very low.
Abstract: A receiver comprises a plurality of antenna elements for receiving a data signal. Each antenna element has a plurality of Rake fingers. Each Rake finger processes a received multipath component of the received data signal of its antenna element by applying a complex weight gain to that received multipath component. A complex weight gain generator determines the complex weight gain for each Rake finger for each antenna element using an input from all the Rake fingers. A summer combines an output of each Rake finger to produce an estimate of the data signal.
Abstract: A method for call admission control in a fast dynamic channel allocation wireless communication system begins by requesting that a call be admitted. System measurement results are obtained and timeslot sequences are generated by determining a figure of merit for each timeslot. A code set is determined and an attempt is made to assign a code set to a timeslot sequence, wherein each successful assignment is considered to be a solution. The solution having the lowest weighted total interference signal code power is selected, and codes are allocated for the selected solution. The physical resource allocation information is recorded and a response to the call admission request is issued.
Abstract: A method and apparatus for correcting the phase and gain of data associated with a constellation pattern of a plurality of received individual symbols. Each symbol is divided into real and imaginary symbol components. The signs of the real and imaginary symbol components of each symbol are determined and used as a basis for determining whether the symbol is associated with a first or third quadrant of the constellation pattern or a second or fourth quadrant of the constellation pattern. The absolute values of the real and imaginary symbol components are determined and used to create a first sum and a second sum. A phase adjustment value ? and a gain adjustment value G are derived from the first and second sums, and are used to create a complex number. Each of the received individual symbols is multiplied by the created complex number to provide corrected constellation pattern data.
Abstract: A receiver employing CDMA techniques estimates background noise based on a periodically updated code. The transmitted signal includes a periodically updated code of a predetermined type and wherein the received signal has CW interference in addition to the transmitted signal. The decision circuit determines if a value representing the likelihood of detection of the code exceeds a predetermined threshold. In the case of a pilot signal not being detected within a predetermined time period which corresponds to code update period, the background noise estimator obtains a new background estimation.
Abstract: A wireless digital telephone system containing at least one emulated base station plus one or more subscriber stations, the emulated base station comprising a station similar to the subscriber station but having the capability of initiating a synchronization process whereby it is enabled to assign time slots to the subscriber station within the frame pattern of an amplitude signal by means of monitoring for positive edges in the signal.

Abstract: A method of optimizing a fast dynamic channel allocation call admission control algorithm in a wireless communication system includes a pre-code allocation process, a signal-independent code allocation process, and a post-code allocation process. The pre-code allocation process includes receiving and processing a request message and obtaining system measurements and information from a centralized database. The code allocation process begins by checking the availability of a code set in the cell and generating timeslot sequences for the available timeslots. A code set is assigned to the available timeslots in a timeslot sequence, wherein a successful assignment is a solution. The interference signal code power (ISCP) is calculated for each solution and the solution having the lowest weighted ISCP is selected as an optimal solution. The post-code allocation process includes storing allocation information in a centralized database and creating a response message.

A combined signal of the received data signals is received over the shared spectrum. The combined signal is sampled at a multiple of the chip rate. A channel response is estimated. A column of a channel correlation matrix is determined using the estimated channel response. A spread data vector is determined using the determined column, the estimated channel response, the received combined signal and a fourier transform. Data of the data signals is estimated using the spread data vector.

Abstract: A hybrid serial/parallel bus interface method and apparatus for a base station has a data block demultiplexing device. The data block demultiplexing device has an input configured to receive a data block and demultiplexes the data block into a plurality of nibbles. For each nibble, a parallel to serial converter converts the nibble into serial data. A line transfers each nibble's serial data. A serial to parallel converter converts each nibble's serial data to recover that nibble. A data block reconstruction device combines the recovered nibbles into the data block. The method/apparatus is adaptable for either bidirectional or unidirectional applications.

Abstract: A receiver for use in a wireless communication system includes a voltage controlled oscillator and estimating means for obtaining a frequency estimate to adjust the voltage controlled oscillator, thereby correcting an oscillator frequency error. The estimating means performs a number of block correlations on a received signal with a known midamble reference. The output of the block correlators are conjugately multiplied and summed to produce a low-variance estimate of the phase change between correlators. A number of the largest summed values are located, and the located values that exceed a detection threshold are summed to provide a single complex number whose angle is an estimate of the phase change between the correlators.
