  • Patent number: 7102994
Abstract: A code group out of 32 code groups that a time division duplex (TDD) base station belongs to is to be indicated. A primary synchronization code is transmitted along with a plurality of secondary synchronization codes from the TDD base station. The plurality of secondary synchronization codes are derived from a row of a Hadamard matrix and the secondary synchronization codes are quadrature phase shift keying modulated. The code group of the TDD base station is indicated by the transmitted plurality of secondary synchronization codes and the 32 code groups are divided into a plurality of code group sets. Each of the code group sets is identified by using a different set of secondary synchronization codes.

  • Patent number: 7103092
Abstract: A single transmitter transmits K communication bursts in a shared spectrum in a time slot of a time division duplex communication system. Each burst has an associated midamble sequence, a receiver knowing the midamble sequences of the K bursts. The receiver receives a vector corresponding to the transmitted midamble sequences of the K communication bursts. A matrix having K right circulant matrix blocks is constructed based in part on the known K midamble sequences. The wireless channel between the transmitter and receiver is estimated based on in part the K block matrix and the received vector.

  • Patent number: 7102690
Abstract: A method for synthesizing a clock signal with multiple frequency outputs for use in a converter for converting a non-interlacing scan data into an interlacing scan data is disclosed. The converter provides a first reference clock signal with a frequency F1. The method includes the steps of receiving the first reference clock signal with the frequency F1 to generate and output a clock signal with a frequency F1×N, proceeding a divided-by-P1 and a divided-by-P2 operations on the clock signal with a frequency F1×N, respectively, to output a first output clock signal with a frequency F1×N/P1 and a second output clock signal with a frequency F1×N/P2, respectively. The value P2/P1 correlates to a ratio of the pixel number of a horizontal scan line in the non-interlacing scan data to that in the interlacing scan data. In addition, a clock signal synthesizer with multiple frequency outputs is also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 7099678
Abstract: A system and method for vector wireless radio communication (multiple modes or signal streams) between a first communication device and a second communication device using radio frequency (RF) communication techniques. At each communication device, signals are received at a plurality of antennas representing a plurality of modes simultaneously transmitted by the other communication device, wherein each mode is a signal stream. A transmit matrix is computed from signals received at the plurality of antennas. The transmit matrix distributes a plurality of modes among a plurality of antenna paths each associated with a corresponding one of the plurality of antennas of the first communication device, and is applied to the plurality of modes to be simultaneously transmitted from the plurality of antennas of one communication device to the other communication device.

  • Patent number: 7099373
Abstract: A spread spectrum noise shaper uses a modulation technique to achieve a greater signal-to-noise or signal-to-interference ratio (SNR or SIR). The technique doubles the system SIR, in principle. This doubling yields a doubling in system capacity. SNR is increased by receiving the spread spectrum signal in the presence of less noise near the edge of the spread spectrum bandwidth. The technique requires only small additions to a conventional spread spectrum system, in the form of an extra modulator at the transmitter, and an extra demodulator and filter at the receiver.

  • Patent number: 7097073
Abstract: A toy water gun having a water supply tank which can be filled with water, and a water pump located on the housing for pumping water from the supply tank to at least one water pressure chamber. The water pressure chamber includes at least one fixed wall, and a moveable wall which substantially sealingly engages the at least one fixed wall and is slidable away from a first end wall as water is pumped into the water pressure chamber and toward the first end wall as water is discharged. An air pressure chamber located on an opposite side of the moveable wall from the water pressure chamber and is pressurizable with compressed air to bias the moveable wall toward the first end wall. An air pump is connected to the air pressure chamber for pressurizing the air pressure chamber with a user desired air pressure. Upon actuation of the release valve, the air pressure acts on the moveable wall to force water under pressure from the water pressure chamber so that a stream of water is ejected from the nozzle.

  • Patent number: 7095723
Abstract: A base station is capable of communicating in a time division duplex using code division multiple access format. The base station transmits a primary synchronization signal and secondary synchronization signals for synchronization purposes. A primary synchronization signal is transmitted in a selected time slot in a primary synchronization channel. The primary synchronization channel uses a plurality of time slots for communication. Each of a plurality of combinations of N code groups and the plurality of time slots is associated with a unique combination of secondary synchronization signals from a set of secondary synchronization signals, which does not exceed (log2 N)+1 in number. Selected secondary synchronization signals are transmitted out of a set of secondary synchronization signals. The selected secondary signals are associated with one of the N code groups. The one group is associated with the base station.

  • Patent number: 7096032
Abstract: A method and communication system (e.g., a time-division duplex (TDD) system) that uses adaptive antennas at the base stations to monitor metrics associated with the quality of one or more common physical channel (CPCH) timeslots, so as to determine whether to reuse some or all of the CPCH timeslots to transmit a dedicated physical channel (DPCH). If it is determined to reuse some or all of the CPCH timeslots, an additional determination is made as to what limit to apply on the DPCH transmission powers. Adaptive antennas may be used at the base stations to allow the system to reuse some or all of the CPCH timeslots to transmit DPCH, thus improving the overall capacity of the system while maintaining the CPCH coverage and quality at a desired level throughout the system.
