  • Patent number: 7065027
Abstract: A method for locating an electric level distribution range of sampled signals is provided. The electric level distribution range includes a plurality of reference levels. Firstly, a plurality of initial values are provided. Then, each of the sampled signals is corresponded to one of the plurality of initial values, which is closest thereto. Then, the initial values corresponded are and adjusted by the sampled signals according to a predetermined operation, thereby realizing the reference levels. A method for recovering data from an optical storage medium is also provided. The signals associated with data from an optical storage medium are firstly sampled. Then, an electric level distribution range of the sampled signals is located. Afterwards, the sampled signals are decoded to recover data according to the electric level distribution range.

  • Patent number: 7064787
Abstract: An operating condition judging means judges at least one of consumed current, whether or not a mechanically driven part is being operated, the supply voltage level, the ambient temperature, whether or not the lens stop device is operative, whether or not the strobo device is being charged, and whether or not access operation of a recording device is being performed. A controller controls a frequency of sweep-out of unnecessary charge in the imaging element on the basis of the output of an operating condition judging device. Thus, it is possible to effectively reduce the peak consumed current through the entire imaging apparatus, reduce the power consumption and extend the battery life.

  • Patent number: 7065365
Abstract: The invention provides various embodiments for radio resource management. In one embodiment, resources are assigned to users in a slotted wireless communication system having candidate timeslots. An interference level is determined for each candidate timeslot. An amount of resources available for assignment in each candidate timeslot is determined. A measurement of fragmentation of codes in an orthogonal variable spreading factor (OVSF) tree in each candidate timeslot is determined. A Figure of Merit for each time slot is determined using the determined interference level, the amount of available resources and the code fragmentation in the OVSF tree for each candidate timeslot. The resources are assigned from the candidate timeslot having a best Figure of Merit.

  • Patent number: 7065126
Abstract: Components and method are provided to efficiently process wireless communications data where prior knowledge of the specific format of the communication data is not available. A wireless transmit receive unit (WTRU) is configured for use in a wireless communication system where communication data for selected channels is transmitted in system time frames in formats selected from among a set of predefined formats. The WTRU has a receiver, a memory, a received chip rate processor (RCRP), a format detector and a de-interleaver. The RCRP is preferably configured to despread each wireless signal of spread data received in each time frame using a minimum spreading code or other appropriate key sequence and to store resultant despread data for each respective time frame in the memory. The format detector is preferably configured to determine the number of physical channels and the respective spreading factor for each physical channel for the wireless signal of spread data received in each time frame.

  • Patent number: 7065366
Abstract: A method for admission control of control plane signaling requests includes receiving a signaling request. Upon receipt of the signaling connection request, a first determination is performed to determine whether to provide admission to common resources. When the first determination is negative, a second determination is performed to determine whether to provide admission to dedicated resources. When the second determination is negative, the signaling request is rejected. When the second determination is positive, the request is admitted to dedicated resources. When the first determination is positive, a third determination is performed to determine whether the quality of the signaling request is high or low. If the quality of the request is high, the signaling request is admitted to common resources. When the quality is low, a fourth determination is performed to determine whether to provide admission to dedicated resources.

  • Patent number: 7061885
Abstract: Two related voiceband compression techniques are employed in order to enable an RF telecommunications base station to accommodate data signals of high speed voiceband modems and FAX machines. A High Speed Codec enables the base station to pass voiceband modem and FAX transmissions at up to 9.6 kb/s. An Ultra-High Speed Codec supports voiceband modem and FAX transmissions up to 14.4 kb/s. The High Speed Codec operates using three 16-phase RF slots or four 8-phase RF slots, and the Ultra-High Speed Codec operates using four 16-phase RF slots. Because these codecs transmit information over several RF slots which can be contiguous, the slots within RF communication channels are dynamically allocated. The Dynamic Time slot/Bandwidth Allocation feature detects and monitors the data transmission and forms a data channel from the necessary number of slots.

  • Patent number: 7058378
Abstract: The present invention is related to a method and apparatus for automatic frequency correction of a local oscillator. The apparatus receives a carrier signal. The carrier signal includes a code sequence known to the apparatus. The apparatus downconverts the carrier signal to a baseband signal using the local oscillator. The apparatus performs a block correlation of the samples of the baseband signal with the known code sequence to generate a frequency error signal. The frequency error signal is fed back to the local oscillator to correct the frequency error.
