Patent number: 7092371Abstract: The present invention discloses a method and system for enabling efficient reduction of TFCs in the TFCS to achieve desired transmission, while remaining within desired power and data requirements. Upon the UE transmission power requirement exceeding the maximum or allowable transmission power the MAC shall be informed for subsequent TFC selection of all TFCs that currently exceed this limit. The UE will then chose the TFC with the next lower transmission power requirement and the sequence will continue until an acceptable TFC is determined. The present invention also enables the replacement of the TFCs in the TFCS and advanced determination of non-supported TFCs. The TFCs that require transmission power greater then the maximum or allowed UE transmission power shall be determined continuously in every TTI, not just in TTIs where the maximum power has been exceeded.Type: GrantFiled: December 9, 2004Date of Patent: August 15, 2006Assignee: InterDigital Technology CorporationInventors: Stephen E. Patent number: 7092720Abstract: A method for characterizing base station processing and memory capabilities in a wireless communications system enables resource allocation to take these capabilities into account and to make allocations that avoid base station overload. A method for allocating resources in a wireless communication system including a base station and a radio network controller (RNC) begins by receiving an allocation request for a new service at the RNC. A set of resources is selected by the RNC to allocate to the new service, taking into account the capabilities of the base station. The allocation request is executed by the RNC if a set of resources can be found that does not exceed the capabilities of the base station.Type: GrantFiled: March 26, 2004Date of Patent: August 15, 2006Assignee: InterDigital Technology Corp.Inventors: Janet Stern-Berkowitz, Ana Lucia Iacono, Ryan Eric Drummond

Patent number: 7090996Abstract: A process for the examination of biocompartments (1), having a micro-flow chamber (2) which contains a biocompartment (1) which is continually or intermittently subjected to the through-flow of a culture medium. In a culture medium zone proximal to the biocompartments (1), an electrical potential is applied in such a manner, that from a substance in the culture medium which is released or consumed by the biocompartments (1), OH? and/or H+ ions are formed. During the application of the potential, a first measurement (pH?1, pH?3) for the pH value of the culture medium is measured. The potential is then switched off or changed in such a manner that the formation of OH? and/or H+ ions from the said substance is stopped. Before or after the measuring of the first measured value, (pH?1, pH?3) with switched off electrical potential, a second measured value (pH?2, pH?4) is measured for the pH value of the culture medium.Type: GrantFiled: September 7, 2004Date of Patent: August 15, 2006Assignee: Micronas GmbHInventor: Mirko Lehmann

Patent number: 7085255Abstract: In a TDD wireless communication system between transmitters and associated receivers, automatic gain control of a receiver is only applied during the corresponding time slot within the TDD signal time frame architecture. Successive received signal strengths are measured and gain levels are stored as estimates for an initial gain level in future time slots of the TDD signal. Estimating techniques, such as averaging or trending of received signal strength over successive time slots, and averaging or trending of gain level settings, provide improved estimation of future initial gain levels.Type: GrantFiled: June 1, 2001Date of Patent: August 1, 2006Assignee: InterDigital Technology CorporationInventors: Alexander Jacques, Leonid Kazakevich, Avi Silverberg

Patent number: 7085583Abstract: A base station for controlling transmission power during the establishment of a communication channel utilizes the reception of a short code during initial power ramp-up. The short code is a sequence for detection by the base station which has a much shorter period than a conventional access code. The ramp-up starts from a power level that is lower than the required power level for detection by the base station. The power of the short code is quickly increased until the signal is detected by the base station. Once the base station detects the short code, it transmits an indication that the short code has been detected.Type: GrantFiled: March 26, 2003Date of Patent: August 1, 2006Assignee: InterDigital Technology CorporationInventors: Fatih M. Patent number: 7082286Abstract: A Node-B/base station has a path searcher and at least one antenna for receiving signals from users. The path searcher comprises a set of correlators. Each correlator correlates an inputted user code with an inputted antenna output of the at least one antenna. An antenna controller selectively couples any output of the at least one antenna to an input of each correlator of the set of correlators. A code phase controller selects a user code for input into the set of correlators. Patent number: 7080614Abstract: A hydraulically actuated, preferably variable, valve drive of an internal-combustion engine is provided, with a slave unit (15), which is embodied as a separate component relative to a master unit. A special characteristic is that the slave unit is provided with a hydraulic backlash compensation element (9), which is connected to a path (12) for feeding hydraulic medium only outside of a stroke phase of a slave piston (5). As a result, on one hand an easy-to-produce valve drive with slave unit (15) is provided. On the other hand, unnecessary “pumping up” of the backlash compensation element (9) during the stroke phases of the slave piston (5) is prevented by the previously mentioned admission of hydraulic medium.Type: GrantFiled: November 30, 2004Date of Patent: July 25, 2006Assignee: INA-Schaeffler KGInventors: Martin Rauch, Michael Haas

Patent number: 7079870Abstract: In a beamforming communication device, transmit weight vectors are iteratively processed to compensate for any group delay caused by receive synchronization in the receive device. The initial transmit weights are computed from signals transmitted by a second communication device and received at a plurality of antennas of the first communication device. The transmit weight processing includes normalizing a transmit weight vector with respect to an element of the transmit weight vector associated with one of the plurality of antennas. The processed transmit weight vectors are then applied to a transmit signal to produce a plurality of transmit signals to be simultaneously transmitted from corresponding ones of the plurality of antennas of the first communication device. These group delay compensation techniques may be extended to a vector beamforming system in which a plurality of eigenmodes is transmitted between the two devices.Type: GrantFiled: February 13, 2004Date of Patent: July 18, 2006Assignee: IPR Licensing, Inc.Inventor: Chandra Vaidyanathan
