Abstract: A transmission power level for a user equipment in a wireless time division duplex communication system using code division multiple access is determined. An interference level is measured. A pathloss estimate is determined. A long term average of pathloss estimates is determined. A first weighting factor, ?, is determined by the determined pathloss estimate, producing a weighted pathloss estimate. (1??) is multiplied to the determined long term average of pathloss estimates, producing a weighted long term pathloss estimate. A transmission power level of the user equipment is determined by adding the weighted pathloss estimate to the weighted long term pathloss estimate to the measured interference level to a target signal to interference ratio to a constant value.

Abstract: A method and system for uplink (UL) synchronization of an uplink transmission from a plurality of wireless transmit/receive units (WTRUs) to a Node-B in a code division multiple access (CDMA) system. A Node-B receives a transmission including a UL synchronization (SYNC_UL) sequence from a WTRU. A sampler samples the transmission at a sampling rate which is higher than a chip rate. The samples are down-sampled and the SYNC_UL sequence is detected at a lower rate. A first significant path location of the detected SYNC_UL sequence is determined, and based on the first significant path location, a final significant path location is determined. The final significant path location is quantized and UpPCHPOS is transmitted to the WTRU to adjust a UL transmission timing.

Abstract: An improved closing device for opening and closing a slidable drawer is presented. The device entails an elongate hollow cylindrical housing having an axial slot extending from one end over at least a part of the body and second axial slot being ‘L’ shaped where the leg of the L is adjacent and substantially parallel to first slot. A cylindrical member is slidable in the body with the projection extending from the member inserted into a second slot. The cylindrical piece with angled groove is able to receive a pin attached to the guide rail of the drawer so that when the draw is opened the pin pulls the cylindrical piece along the first slot towards the angled section. The cylindrical piece rotates and locks due to the extension on second slot. Furthermore, when the drawer is closed the pin on the guide rail, when pushed in, engages with the first slot that rotates the cylindrical piece thus releasing the extension and the spring pulls the drawer to a closed position.
Abstract: A system and method for wireless communication between a plurality of subscriber units and a base station, the base station communicating information signals from an originating source to a destination subscriber unit over a channel at an assigned one of a plurality of frequencies using repetitive time frames, each said time frame comprising a sequence of time slots. The channel is defined as having the same one or more time slots from the sequence of time slots in one or more of the time frames. The base station includes a central processing unit capable of assigning a duration of time for the information signals being sent to the destination subscriber unit. The duration equals the duration of one or more time slots in the same frame. The central processing unit maintains a memory of which time slots of each time frame have been assigned and provides the time slot assignment, and therefore channel assignment, by consulting said memory.

Abstract: An apparatus for the combustion of organic waste such as poultry litter/manure, cow manure and swine manure, and/or human waste, and/or biomass using a moving grate over a stationary perforated plate to convert organic waste into usable energy. The unprocessed fuel is fed into the combustion chamber through a feed hopper by a moving grate being continuously pulled over a stationary perforated plate. The raw fuel is metered using a guillotine gate apparatus to control the depth of the fuel bed on the moving grate. Temperature controlled combustion air is directed under the stationary perforated plate (under fire air) into discreet controllable under fire air zones to initiate and drive the combustion process. The stationary plate is sectioned to match the discreet under fire air zones with holes and/or slots (perforations) shaped and sized for proper under fire air distribution and pressure drop through the plate.

Abstract: A method and communication system (e.g., TDD system) that uses adaptive antennas at the base stations to monitor metrics associated with the quality of one or more CPCH timeslots, so as to determine whether to reuse some or all of the CPCH timeslots to transmit the DPCH. If it is determined to reuse some or all of the CPCH timeslots, an additional determination is made as to what limit to apply on the DPCH transmission powers. Adaptive antennas may be used at the base stations to allow the system to reuse some or all of the CPCH timeslots to transmit DPCH, thus improving the overall capacity of the system while maintaining the CPCH coverage and quality at a desired level throughout the system.
Abstract: A method and system wherein handover information is broadcast in a wireless local area network. Handover information is broadcast in a beacon frame thereby allowing WTRUs operating in a wireless area network to handover to available alternative systems as desired. WTRUs may read the beacon frame and obtain appropriate information for handing over to alternative systems having coverage areas that overlap that of the wireless local area network. The alternative systems may be any type of wireless system and the wireless local area network may be any type of wireless area network.

Abstract: A method and system is disclosed for a device to quickly determine if data is being sent to it. If no data is being sent to the device, the device may return to a sleep mode so as to conserve energy. The present invention includes organizing and transmitting, one at a time, all device destination identifiers. If a message listing search indicates that no message is being sent for a device, the device can continue with any other activity that needs servicing, or if no other activity is pending, it may shut down to conserve power until the next wake up period arrives. If the search returns a positive indication, the count value when the identifier is found can be used to determine the location of the pointer to the message.
