  • Patent number: 6927642
Abstract: A duty cycle correction method converts a pair of differential analog signals from an oscillator into an output pulse signal with 50% of duty cycle. The pulse signal has the same frequency as that of each of the differential analog signals. The duty cycle correction method processes the pair of differential analog signals into a first digital pulse signal and a second digital pulse signal, wherein the first digital pulse signal and the second digital pulse signal have a specified phase difference therebetween, frequency-divides the first digital pulse signal and the second digital pulse signal into a third digital pulse signal and a fourth digital pulse signal, and generates the output pulse signal according to the third and fourth digital pulse signals. The output pulse signal can be generated by performing an exclusive OR operation of the third and fourth digital pulse signals.

  • Patent number: 6928102
Abstract: A spread spectrum time division duplex user equipment uses frames with time slots for communication. It receives power commands and receives a first communication having a transmission power level in a first time slot. It measures a power level of the first communication as received and determines a pathloss estimate based on in part the measured received first communication power level and the first communication transmission power level. The user equipment sets a transmission power level for a second communication in a second time slot from the user equipment based on in part the pathloss estimate weighted by a quality factor and adjusted by the power commands.

  • Patent number: 6924511
Abstract: The invention provides a method and device for light generation wherein an embodiment of the device comprises a lower electrode, a conducting substrate formed on the lower electrode, and a triangle mesa structure having an optical cavity formed on the substrate. The triangle mesa structure (which can also be truncated) further comprises an active layer, a lower conducting mirror and an upper conducting mirror for vertical confinement of light in the optical cavity, a contact layer formed on the upper mirror, a metallic contact formed on the contact layer. An electrical current is applied to the device according to the invention through the metallic contact linked to the contact layer, and subsequently to the lower electrode through the lower mirror and the conducting substrate. The applied current results in light generation in the active layer with vertical light output through the metallic contact. A corresponding light generation method is also disclosed herein.

  • Patent number: 6921100
Abstract: The present invention relates to a system for adjusting weight distribution throughout all axle groups of the truck and trailer. The trailer has at least one axle group mounted on a pair of rails attached to the frame of the trailer. These axle groups are locked in position on the rails by locking pins. The system for adjusting weight distribution according to the present invention measures the weight on every axle group on the truck and trailer. The measurement may be of weight directly by load cells etc. or indirectly, by taking measurements from the air suspension system to calculate weight. The measurements are delivered as an electrical signal to one or more microprocessors capable of receiving the electrical signals and calculating the optimum position of the axle group on the trailer. The position of the trailer axle groups relative to the rails is also determined and the position delivered to the microprocessor(s).

  • Patent number: 6920849
Abstract: A device for controlling cylinder disconnection in internal combustion engines, with a control device which permits in one of its two switching states an actuation of the valve concerned, with transmission devices which, in dependence on the switching state of the control device, transmit the cam stroke to the valve, and with a control unit acting on the control device. This provides a high switch over reliability with only small requirements for the changeover technology used. For this, the device has a data memory for the detection of the time course of the movement behavior of the gas exchange valves of cylinders of the internal combustion engine, and a data processing unit which provides a combination of gas exchange valves into valve groups with regard to a common activation or deactivation.

  • Patent number: 6918986
Abstract: Method and apparatus for trimming plastic frames. Frames are joined to bring heated, soften ends into engagement, causing some softened material to be forced out from between the engaged portions, forming a flashing. This flashing is trimmed by a pair of trimming blades moved along associated guide members. The trimming assembly is mounted directly upon clamps holding the frame members, enabling performance of the trimming operation and eliminating the need for moving to a separate trimming/finishing station remote from the joining equipment. Excellent cutting action is assured by locking the guide blocks preparatory to a trimming operation. Various combinations and sequences of repetitive trimming operations may be selected whereby the cooperating blades are moved in selective cooperating directions to provide a trimming operation which avoids the need for further finishing. Trimming may also be performed simultaneously on multiple stacks of members being joined using the above technique.

  • Patent number: 6917675
Abstract: To set up a conference call which includes two, three or more participants, when the participating residential gateways (RGs) lack the necessary capability, a call agent designates a capable residential gateway RG, such as an embedded or stand-alone multi-media terminal adapter (eMTA or MTA) or a cable modem voice (CM), to serve as a residential conference mixer (RCM). The call agent routes outbound voice traffic from the participating RGs to the RCM, which mixes the traffic from the RGs participating in the conference call and directs the mixed voice traffic to the participating RGs. The call agent monitors the RGs for information useful to determine availability for conferencing.

  • Patent number: 6918135
Abstract: A system which provides session oriented communications between a settop terminal and a headend of a CATV communication system assigns downstream and upstream communication paths to the communication. A data router monitors the downstream communication path and re-routes the downstream communication path when a channel change is requested by a subscriber. The settop terminal notifies the data router that a channel change has been requested by the subscriber. The router re-routes the downstream portion of the data communication to the new channel requested by the subscriber, thereby insuring an uninterrupted data communication session.

  • Patent number: 6913191
Abstract: Method and apparatus for use in a variety of communications systems providing one or more payment alternatives for communication services and automatically selecting of a group of alternative payment techniques while significantly reducing the amount of interactive activity required from the user. Upon entry of a request to establish communications between calling and called electronic devices, the system initially looks towards a primary service provider. Absent acceptance of the request for service by the primary service provider, for whatever reason, the system automatically reverts to an alternative service provider and/or payment provider by searching data provided by the user and coupled to the electronic device for which a communication link is requested, eliminating the need for any further input by the user in the form of redialing the call, providing data through insertion of a debit or credit card, for example, identifying the alternative payment provider.
