  • Publication number: 20130293291
Abstract: Apparatus and methods are also disclosed related to tuning a quality factor of an LC circuit. In some implementations, the LC circuit can be embodied in a low-noise amplifier (LNA). A quality factor adjustment circuit can increase and/or decrease conductance across the LC circuit. This can stabilize a parasitic resistance in parallel with the LC circuit. In this way, a gain of the LC circuit can be stabilized.

  • Publication number: 20130293405
Abstract: A digital input to a digital-to-analog converter (DAC) is divided into a most significant portion and a lesser significant portion. At least one tap voltage generator generates a plurality of voltages, preferably using a resistor string. A decoder decodes at least one sub-word that forms the lesser significant portion to generate a corresponding at least one control signal. A switching unit accesses voltages generated by the at least one tap voltage generator in response to the at least one control signal. A scaled current generator generates a respective weighted current from each accessed voltage. An output stage combines all the weighted currents with a voltage that is an analog representation of the most significant portion of the digital input to generate an analog approximation of the entire digital input.

  • Publication number: 20130293294
Abstract: A programmable gain amplifier (“PGA”) may include a differential amplifier, a pair of input capacitors, a pair of feedback capacitors provided in feedback configuration about the amplifier, a first chop circuit, provided at an input of the PGA and an output of the PGA and a second chop circuit provided at an output of the PGA. The PGA also may include circuit systems to sample voltages across the input capacitors in a sampling phase. The sampled voltages may correspond to a difference between a common mode voltage of input signals to the PGA and a common mode voltage of the differential amplifier. The sampled voltage, thus, defines a common mode voltage at the amplifier's inputs during other phases of operation, when the chop circuits are operational.

  • Publication number: 20130283908
Abstract: In comb drive vibratory gyroscopes, drive-induced Coriolis accelerometer offset is effectively canceled by demodulating the output during equal times of in-phase and anti-phase drive of the shuttle with respect to the velocity signal used for angular rate demodulation. This reduces or eliminates the corresponding thermal and die-stress effects otherwise needing calibration.

  • Publication number: 20130288070
Abstract: A first metal such as germanium is prepared for metal-to-metal bonding by depositing the first metal onto a roughened foundation layer so that asperities are present on the first metal layer substantially following the topology of the asperities on the surface of the foundation layer without having to process the surface of the first metal layer. Such asperities can break through barrier layer(s) on the surface of another metal (e.g., an oxide layer, an anti-stiction coating, and/or other barrier layer) during a bonding process so that direct metal-to-metal bonding can be accomplished without having to remove the barrier layer(s) and without having to process the surface of the first metal such as by photolithography or depositing and subsequently removing a material that partially interdiffuses with the first metal.
