Abstract: A process for processing polycaprolactam extraction liquors by evaporation of water and distillation of the residue in which the evaporation of water is carried out in a plurality of stages and the evaporation energy for the removal of the bulk of the water is taken from the heat liberated in the rearrangement of cyclohexanone oxime to caprolactam in oleum or sulfuric acid by using the extraction water for cooling the rearrangement mixture and utilizing the heat absorbed by the extraction water for the concentration of this extraction water by evaporation of water.

Abstract: Disperse dyes for linear polyester fibers, said dyes having the formula: ##SPC1##In which R' and R" are alkyl of 1 to 5 carbon atoms, 2-chloroethyl, 2-cyanoethyl, 2-ethoxyethyl, 2-methoxyethyl, 3-methoxypropyl, 3-ethoxypropyl, 3-isopropoxypropyl, 2-phenylethyl, benzyl or phenyl and wherein R' and R" are identical or different and R.sup.2 is methyl, ethyl, propyl, butyl, 2-ethoxyethyl, 3-ethoxypropyl, 2-methoxyethyl, 3-methoxypropyl, 2-phenylethyl, phenyl, p-chlorophenyl, p-methylphenyl or hydrogen.
Abstract: The compound Ni.sub.5 MgAl.sub.2 (OH).sub.16.sup.. CO.sub.3.sup.. 4H.sub.2 O is precipitated from an aqueous solution containing salts of nickel, magnesium and aluminum with a carbonate or bicarbonate of an alkali metal. After this catalyst precursor has been dried, calcined and reduced with hydrogen a catalyst can be prepared which is suitable for the cracking of hydrocarbons in the presence of steam. In the steam cracking of hydrocarbons the hydrocarbon and the steam may be reacted to form a gas rich in methane in contact with this catalyst at a preheating temperature of less than 300.degree. C.

Abstract: Aliphatic isocyanates are manufactured by thermal decomposition of aliphatic carbamic acid halides, an inert gas being passed in during the decomposition and being removed together with the hydrogen halide formed. The isocyanates which may be manufactured by the process of the invention, particularly ethyl isocyanate, n-propyl isocyanate and isopropyl isocyanate, are valuable starting materials for the manufacture of plant protection agents, pesticides, dyes, synthetic resins, plastics, hydrophobic agents for textiles, detergents, bleaches and adhesives.
Abstract: The invention relates to relief plates for flexographic printing comprising a relatively soft elastomeric base (U) having a modulus of elasticity of from 10 to 200 kg/cm.sup.2 and a thickness of from 0.5 to 6 mm and, firmly bonded thereto, a thin, relatively hard, difficultly soluble intermediate layer Z having a modulus of elasticity of from 1 .times. 10.sup.3 to 2.1 .times. 10.sup.6 kg/cm.sup.2 and a thickness of from 5 to 500 .mu. and, firmly bonded to said intermediate layer Z, a relief layer P' consisting of a photocrosslinked elastomeric mixture having a modulus of elasticity of from 30 to 2000 kg/cm.sup.2 and a thickness of from 200 to 300 .mu., the modulus of elasticity of the photocrosslinked relief layer P' being the same as or higher than that of the base U and the neutral surface of the relief plate lying in or near the intermediate layer Z. The invention also relates to photosensitive laminates for the production of such plates.

Abstract: An apparatus for spreading viscous pavement sealant which comprises a means for carrying a quantity of the sealant, the carrying means having means for discharging a flow of the sealant onto the surface and means for controlling the rate of sealant flow. Further included are means pivotally mounted on the carrying means and resiliently biased against the surface for spreading a layer of the discharged sealant over the surface, and means pivotally mounted on the carrying means and resiliently biased against the surface for brushing the layer of sealant evenly over the surface. Means are provided for limiting the travel distance of the spreading and brushing means toward the surface. In one preferred embodiment, the apparatus is mounted on wheels and the discharging means include an auger driven by the wheels.

Abstract: New triazine compositions having incorporated therewithin both alkanolamino groups and pendent tertiary amino groups are defined herein. The triazines are prepared by the reaction of (1) an intermediate prepared from either alkyl halides or alkylene oxides and dialkylaminoalkyl primary amines and (2) cyanuric chloride or a derivative thereof. The triazines hereof exhibit excellent catalystic activity in the preparation of rigid cellular foams characterized by carbodiimide linkages.

Abstract: The diaphragm of a chlor-alkali cell has its useful life prolonged by the unplugging thereof. Unplugging is achieved by shifting the pH gradient in the diaphragm toward the catholyte side. Simultaneously with the shifting of the pH gradient, chelates are formed in the anolyte solution from .alpha.-hydroxyketones and .alpha.-hydroxyaldehydes.
