  • Patent number: 5918697
Abstract: An operating-element arrangement has a user-actuatable operating element which, when actuated in a first actuation direction, brings about an increase in the longitudinal direction of a motor vehicle. When actuated in a second actuation direction opposite to the first direction, the arrangement brings about a reduction in the longitudinal movement of the vehicle. The actuating force exerted on the operating element determines the change in longitudinal movement to be brought about. The rest position of the operating element is displaced in dependence on the longitudinal movement of the vehicle. The user consequently receives a perceptible and/or visible acknowledgement of the respective vehicle speed or of the deviation between the actual and the desired speed. Alternatively, the operating element can be configured isometrically, in that it remains in a fixed position irrespective of the actuating force.

  • Patent number: 5917544
Abstract: An arrangement and method for processing a signal field of sensor signals which originate from the individual sensor elements, for example photodetectors, of a plurality of sensor elements which are regularly spaced in an area and which are each surrounded by six adjacent sensor elements while forming a hexagonal structure. A differential amplifier compares a quantity representing the potential difference and a reference quantity forms a switching quantity (I.sub.Mo) on the output side. A switching comparator, on the input side, receives the switching quantity and, if this switching quantity exceeds the preselectable switching threshold, on the output side emits a switching pulse which causes the "off" switching condition. Four signal outputs 1, 2, 3, 4 as well as four signal inputs (I.sub.M1 I.sub.M2, I.sub.M3, I.sub.

  • Patent number: 5913942
Abstract: A remote control driving mechanism works in the manner of an OR-gate for performing a mechanical switching operation by one of two or more operating control input levers at a time. For this purpose an operable member (2) to be driven is connected to a cam follower (17) which cooperates with two or more cam disks (9, 10) each connected to a respective operating lever (4, 5) through a corresponding push-pull cable (6, 7). Each cam disk (9, 10) has a cam track with a force transmitting section (13, 14) and with a guide section (15, 16) so arranged and configured that the cam follower (17) engages a force transmitting cam track section in one cam disk while engaging a guide cam track section in the other cam disk and vice versa. The sections of each cam track form a U- or V-configuration with a dead point (DP) between the cam track sections. The cam follower (17) is freely movable in the guide track sections, whereby the respective cam disk cannot be operated by its corresponding push-pull cable.

  • Patent number: 5914604
Abstract: An ion current in the combustion chamber of an internal combustion engine is measured by using the spark plug as an ion current sensor. The ignition circuit arrangement has an ignition coil or transformer with a primary winding forming a primary circuit and a secondary winding forming a secondary circuit in which the spark plug is connected. A measuring voltage is applied to the secondary circuit by circuit components forming a measuring circuit for measuring the ion current. The measuring circuit provides a measuring voltage at a value that is lower than the battery voltage of the ignition system or corresponds to the battery voltage at most. A rectifying element is connected to the secondary circuit which feeds the secondary or ignition current into the battery circuit of the ignition system while an ion current caused to flow by the measuring voltage applied to the secondary circuit is measured between sparking times when no ignition current is flowing.

  • Patent number: 5911536
Abstract: A joint for deploying and locking a solar panel or a reflector has a fork which is pivotable through 180.degree. about a common pivot axis with a fixed bearing support. A disk mounted on the fixed bearing support has a sliding curve that terminates in a groove. A latching fork mounted rotatably on pivotable fork has a latching bolt and sliding roller which runs on the sliding curve when the pivotable fork deploys, and together with a latching bolt, engages the groove. A leg spring engages the latching bolt. The sliding curve has a shape such that during the first half of a deployment angle of the fork that is pivoted by the force of a coil spring, a decreasing portion of the coil spring moment is stored in leg spring. In the second half of the deployment angle, a moment 16 stored in leg spring 9 is again added increasingly to the movement, so that during deployment, an approximately constant corrected deployment moment is provided.
