Abstract: A scale or scanning unit of a measuring instrument for measuring the relative motion of two objects movable toward one another is secured to the one object and cooperates with a scanning unit or a scale to detect the relative location of the object. According to the invention, the scale or the scanning unit has means for at least one interlocking connection with the object, which is embodied along the longitudinal extent of the scale or the scanning unit.
Abstract: The invention relates to a sampling device, in which the site of separation from the microbiologically contaminated environment is constructed as a sterile protective gas current according to the laminar air-flow principle under a housing bell (7), the site of connection of the inner tube (11) to the sample tube (10) being so designed that it occurs inside to just below the housing bell (7), fixedly or with no fixed connection, and for automatic operation occurs just below the housing bell (7), with no fixed connection.
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for controlling a continuously variable transmission with an electrohydraulic control, a selector device, and a controllable engaging clutch of a motor vehicle, especially one powered by an internal combustion engine, with a control device in a first operating mode automatically selecting and adjusting a gear ratio for the transmission from signals of the selector device and the operating parameters of the motor vehicle such as the throttle angle, driving speed and engine rpm, by means of curves selectable by the driver.It is proposed, in a second operating mode, to simulate a multi-step transmission influenceable directly by the driver. In order to permit use of this operating mode, only a few preset gear ratios are made available to the driver.

Abstract: A device for relative rotational angle changing of the camshaft of an internal combustion engine relative to its drive wheel has an inner part connected with ribs or vanes that is located rotationally movably in a compartmented wheel. This driven compartmented wheel has a plurality of compartments distributed around the circumference divided by ribs or vanes into two pressure chambers each, and with the change in rotational angle being produced by their pressurization. To minimize the influence of overlapping alternating torque influences from the valve drive of the internal combustion engine, damping structure is integrated into this device to damp the change in rotational position change hydraulically.

Abstract: A side impact protection device in the form of an inflatable gas bag for an occupant of a motor vehicle includes an outlet opening located on a vertical wall section of a trim part located in front, said opening being closed by a cover when the gas bag is in the resting position. Abstract: There is described a roller drive for the feed of a web of material, in particular for the web feed of a needling machine, comprising an electric drive motor (2) for at least one feed roller (1), which is connected to a mains-operated intermediate DC circuit (5). To create advantageous constructional conditions it is proposed that the mechanical drive train between the drive motor (2) and the feed roller (1) includes an additional electric motor (9) likewise connected to the intermediate DC circuit (5), which additional motor can be driven as generator by the drive motor (2).

Abstract: An impact protection device for an occupant of a vehicle includes a gas bag inflatable by a gas generator, with a restraint being provided inside the gas bag. In order to simplify installation costs for the gas bag, gas generator, and restraint, provision is made such that one end of the restraint is connected with the gas generator and the other end is connected with the fabric layer of the gas bag that faces the occupant.
Abstract: The adhesion of dental restorative materials, more particularly of composite materials containing an organic binder, to dental instruments can be reduced, essentially independently of the material of which the dental instrument is made, by providing the working surfaces with impressions. These impressions result in a reduction of the contact surface of the composite material on the working surface and thus in a reduction of the component of the adhesion which is due to physical attraction, e.g. to the van der Waals force. If the impressions are sufficiently small, a penetration of the composite material into the impressions is prevented by the high viscosity of the latter alone. If additionally the impressions are capable of being sealed by the tooth replacement material in contact therewith, an air cushion forms in the impressions which additionally counteracts a penetration of the tooth replacement material.

Abstract: The invention relates to a method for gloss coating articles or a portion of an article's surface and articles produced from this method. A corrosion-inhibiting polishing base coat is applied in a known fashion, after which a high-gloss layer produced by atomization, preferably magnetron atomization, is applied. Then, a transparent, wear-resistant top coat layer is applied in a known fashion. The articles can also be pretreated, if desired, and given a protective or other layers.
