  • Patent number: 4225627
Abstract: In the demolding of confectionery products (especially high-amylose candy recipes) steam pressure, which is applied between the surface of the mold and molded confectionery product, can be effectively employed to expel the product from a fixed or permanent mold. The steam pressure effectively functions as a self-lubricating and self-dissipating agent which cleanly separates the molded confection from the mold. Temporary chemical release or permanent release coating agents are not needed.

  • Patent number: 4224575
Abstract: A biphase shift keyed modulated carrier is input to an analog delay line having a plurality of sampling taps time spaced along the line. The modulated input carrier is sampled at a rate four times the carrier frequency to produce amplitude samples of the input. The taps of the delay line are divided into two groups comprising alternate tap sets and the amplitude samples of each group are summed for decoding the I and Q channels of a modulated carrier. The summed signal of each of the channels is input to an individual sample and hold circuit which aliases the carrier frequency to baseband. The output of the first sample and hold circuit of each channel is provided to a second sample and hold circuit for the respective channels. The second sample and hold circuit of each channel is clocked at a data rate derived from a bit timing loop.

  • Patent number: 4223777
Abstract: Apparatus for transporting stacks of paper sheets from a gathering station which receives successive rows of aligned stacks to two packing machines has a discrete staggering conveyor for each stack of a row. These conveyors serve to convert each row into two groups of staggered stacks and cooperate with auxiliary conveyors which deliver such stacks to successive pallets of two separate sets of pallets which advance the stacks toward the respective packing machines. The pallets of each set travel along a separate main track. The main tracks are parallel to each other and flank two crossing connecting tracks.

  • Patent number: 4223129
Abstract: A continuous process for making alkyl aldosides from polysaccharides and more particularly mixed alkyl glycosides from starch by direct alcoholysis. A polysaccharide, such as starch, is slurried in an alcohol and passed through a heated, confined zone under pressure in the presence of an acid catalyst to form a mixed alkyl aldoside. The alcohols which may be used include methanol, ethanol, propanol and butanol, their isomers and mixtures thereof. Higher alkyl glycosides are surfactants and, in some instances, it is advantageous to use higher alcohols, such as decyl and dodecyl alcohols, to obtain particular surfactant properties in the resulting alkyl glycosides. Mixed alkyl glycosides are useful in detergent applications, and as backbone polymers in polyurethane foams.

  • Patent number: 4223069
Abstract: A three-coat system for use on bakeware which has a silvery appearance and can be cured at low temperatures. First, an epoxide-formaldehyde-nitrogen resin primer, which may contain aluminum flake, is applied to the substrate, then a reactive silicone-epoxy coat containing talc and coarse aluminum flake is applied. Finally, a less reactive silicone resin containing coarse aluminum flake, but no other pigment is applied. The two final coats are applied directly on the preceding coat after only ambient temperature air drying. After the final coat is applied, the coated article is baked at temperatures that need not exceed 275.degree. C.
