  • Publication number: 20110314727
Abstract: Coal compacts which are suitable for coking in coke oven chambers are prepared by pressing and compacting coal in a pressing device having a design which shapes the surface of the coal compacts to provide higher surface area. Already compacted coal blocks can be pressed to generate the surface shape. The resulting coal compacts exhibit significantly improved properties during the coking process, resulting in improved gas and heat exchange. A device for compacting coal preferably contains a plate provided with shaping elements on the pressing surface.

  • Publication number: 20110296995
Abstract: With a device for removal of fine-grained or dust-like solids from a container that is to be pressurized or is pressurized, whereby the container is equipped with a double-walled discharge cone or funnel, a solution is supposed to be created with which the use of porous materials, such as sintered metals or the like, in particular, is avoided, while making available good conveyance properties in the transfer funnel, without restricting the grain sizes of the material, in each instance, whereby even particle-charged gas can be used for conveyance. This is achieved in that the gas exit openings are larger than the largest particles of the solid to be removed, and that the gas exit openings (4) are provided with a pipe connector or gas feed channel (4a) that projects into the interior of the ring chamber (6) and has at least one angle with an imaginary horizontal plane, and that the gas feed channel (4a) is part of a retention device (12) for preventing solid from trickling into the ring chamber (6).

Abstract: A device is disclosed for removing slag from a coal gasification reactor and to a slag water bath enclosed by the reaction vessel. The slag is discharged by means of a lock-type transfer vessel arranged downstream of the slag bath. The lock-type transfer vessel comprises one upper and one lower cylindrical section, the upper cylindrical section having a diameter larger than that of the lower cylindrical section and both sections being connected with each other via a tapered section which preferably is conical and the angle of the cone being similar to that of the angle of repose of the slag. Also disclosed is a process for removing slag from a coal gasification reactor and a slag water bath housed by the reaction vessel. The device permits a discharge of slag in a lock-type transfer vessel and precludes formation of slag incrustations in the lock-type transfer vessel.

Abstract: A method and a system for uniformization and regulation of the solid fuels pneumatically conveyed using dense-stream conveying, into a gasifier for the production of synthesis gas, is supposed to be configured in such a manner that clearly homogenized feed of the coal to the burner is made possible, whereby the short-term fluctuations are minimized and thus the gasification quality is improved, and regulation of the amounts of coal to the burner is structured to be more effective. This is achieved in that the fine-grain to dust-type fuel is first conveyed out of a feed container positioned below the burner level, to a level above the burner level, and subsequently homogenized in a line that is directed downward toward the burner.

  • Patent number: 8057713
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for producing electrically conducting nickel oxide surfaces made of nickel-containing material. According to the method, the nickel surface is first degreased and is then roughened for approximately ten minutes in a solution containing about one percent of hydrochloric acid, the process being accelerated by adding hydrogen peroxide solution, resulting in the electrolyte turning green. The nickel surface is briefly wetted, the nickel material is introduced into a solution of 3.5 molar lye to which about ten percent of hydrogen peroxide is added and is kept therein for ten minutes, and the resulting nickel hydroxide surface is dehydrated in a subsequent thermal process and is then further oxidized to obtain nickel oxide. The invention further relates to a conductive boundary layer that is produced according to the method, the electrodes therefrom, and the use thereof in chlorine-alkali electrolysis processes, in fuel cells and storage batteries.

  • Patent number: 8043577
Abstract: With the help of a method and device for nozzle-jetting oxygen into a synthesis reactor, e.g. for oxy-dehydration, with largely axial flow of the gas mixture through a catalyst bed, it is intended to vastly improve the mixing-in and mixing-through of oxygen above the catalyst especially for oxy-dehydration process. This is achieved by feeding the oxygen to a ring distributor system arranged above the catalyst bed in pure form, as air or mixed with inert gas or water vapor and jetting the oxygen onto the catalyst surface through several exit openings in the ring distributor at an inclined angle deviating from the vertical.

  • Patent number: 8012441
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for isolating hydrogen sulphide from coke-oven gas with the subsequent recovery of elemental sulphur in a Claus plant. The hydrogen sulphide is eliminated from the coke-oven gas by gas washing using an absorption liquid. During the regeneration of the loaded absorption liquid, hydrogen sulphide is accumulated in concentrated form and is fed to the Claus plant. Said Claus plant comprises a Claus boiler, a waste-heat boiler, in addition to a reactor, which forms an additional catalyst stage. According to the invention, the Claus plant is operated with a single reactor, which operates at a working temperature of below 250° C. The process gas that exits the reactor is returned after the deposition of elemental sulphur with a non-reacted residual concentration of hydrogen sulphide to the coke-oven gas that is to be cleaned, prior to the gas washing stage.

  • Patent number: 8007569
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for removing hydrogen sulphide and other acidic gas components from pressurized technical gases by means of a physical detergent and for obtaining sulphur from hydrogen sulphide by using a Claus system. The hydrogen sulphide and the other acidic gas components are removed in an absorbent manner from the physical detergent, the physical detergent undergoes multi-step regeneration, said multi-step regeneration comprising at least one device for CO enrichment, a device for H2S enrichment, a device for CO2 stripping and a device for thermal regeneration. The various regeneration steps consist of various pressure steps and have a lower pressure than that of the absorption. A hydrogen sulphide rich Claus gas is withdrawn from one of the regeneration steps and is guided to a Claus system where sulphur is produced. The residual gas exiting from the Claus system is hydrated and is condensed under pressure, corresponding to one of the regeneration steps.
