  • Publication number: 20030164716
Abstract: An alignment apparatus for an integrated circuit (IC) test handler is disclosed. The alignment apparatus of the present invention installs a plurality of first guide pins and a plurality of second guide pins on a load board stiffener, and the first and second guide pins penetrate a load board and a surface mount matrix (SMM) frame member used for fastening a SMM sequentially from the backsides of load board and SMM frame member. When an IC device packaged by the ball grid array (BGA) method is in an electrical test, the present invention can shorten the working distance of a test arm of the IC test handler for enhancing the stability of testing process, thereby promoting the testing yield. Furthermore, with a shorter working distance, the output force from the test arm is smaller, so that the force acted on solder balls located at the bottom of the BGA device is smaller, thereby prolonging the service life of SMM contacting the solder balls.

  • Patent number: 6570642
Abstract: A tool for placing an identifying mark on a semiconductor wafer has a bundle of optical fibers that can be illuminated in a pattern representing an identifying character. Light from the fibers is focused on a photoresist layer during wafer manufacture and a pattern of dots is etched into the wafer to represent the character. The dots are too small to be seen with the human eye but the character can be read by a human or by a machine. The character is etched as part of a conventional etch step in manufacturing the wafer and it is easily repeated as a series of manufacturing steps obscure the original mark.

  • Publication number: 20030001462
Abstract: A motion sensing system utilizing piezoelectric laminates with predetermined surface electrode patterns disposed thereon utilizes a frequency selector to pass motion waves of predetermined frequencies and an electrical circuit for processing the electrical signals for transmission to an activating device for appropriate activation. In particular, the frequency selector is a low frequency bandpass filter for free-fall acceleration wave frequencies. By directing appropriate action, the present invention increases the applicability of the device upon which it is mounted (e.g., for military or other hostile environment use), decreases the possibility of damage, and lengthens its useful life.
