  • Patent number: 6993670
Abstract: A method of configuring a computer system capable of being woken up on a LAN A core power is actuated for an interval by performing a Pre-Advanced Configuration and Power Interface (Pre-ACPI) routine. Next, a PCI clock signal is retrieved in the fixed interval and then an Ethernet ID is loaded using the PCI clock signal, so as to set a south bridge to a standby mode capable of receiving a wake-up event. As a result, use of an oscillator in conventional methods can be reduced, and the computer system can be configured to be capable of being woken-up on LAN, without requiring the start-up procedure, so that the computer system may be awoken on the LAN even after an abnormal shutdown.

  • Patent number: 6990264
Abstract: A 1×N or N×1 optical switch based on a plurality of movable MEMS-created platforms, each carrying a light guiding structure such as a waveguide, where the position of the platforms determines which optical path is connected through the optical switch. The MEMS-created platforms are formed integral with the substrate of the optical switch. The waveguides residing on the movable platforms gradually change the direction of the optical signal in order to minimize losses. The movable platforms can move linearly or rotationally, for example. Also described is a method for fabricating such an optical switch and its components by etching from the bottom of the substrate and through the oxide.

  • Publication number: 20060008591
Abstract: A coating apparatus (2) includes a work table (20) having a plurality of blowing holes (201) for suspending a substrate (200) thereabove, a coating unit (22) having a photoresist coating nozzle (222) and a supplying device (224) for photoresist material. The photoresist coating nozzle is disposed above the work table, and the supplying device connects to the coating nozzle for supplying photoresist thereto. In operation, the substrate to be coated is continuously suspended in the gas just above but not in contact with the work table. Therefore, accumulation of static electricity and/or foreign particles on the substrate can be avoided. Gas emitting from the blowing holes can remove foreign particles from the surface of the work table and the backside of the work table.

  • Patent number: 6985415
Abstract: The invention is an offset setting system for an optical reading/writing apparatus having an optical pickup head reading/writing digital data under a predetermined velocity on an optical storage media. The apparatus sets the offset including a plurality of buffer blocks when the pickup head crosses storage tracks each time on the media and stop on a target storage track. The offset is to steady the pickup head to read/write data on a target block of the target storage track. A buffer time estimating module estimates an average time for the pickup head crossing a buffer block under a predetermined velocity, defining as a buffer time. The buffer blocks setting module records a steady time for the pickup head steadying to read/write data on the target block, and sets the number of the buffer blocks by a predetermined setting process in the offset based on the buffer time and the steady time.

  • Patent number: 6954579
Abstract: An improved device, which may act as a variable attenuator, changes the optical intensity of an optical signal by moving a platform onto which a light transmissive structure such as a waveguide is disposed. The light transmissive structure is positioned and aligned to receive an optical signal and positioned and aligned to transmit the optical signal. By moving the light transmissive structure into a position of reduced alignment with an input source, the light transmissive structure may receive less or none of the optical signal, thereby attenuating it. Alternatively, by moving the light transmissive structure into a position of reduced alignment with an output structure, the light transmissive structure may transmit less or none of the optical signal, thereby attenuating its transmission.

  • Patent number: 6885706
Abstract: A method for promoting temporal resolution of sequential images is to firstly choose a first visual frame and split it into a plurality of visual blocks according to a predetermined value, then choose a second visual frame. The method then goes to search the second visual frame for mostly resembling respective visual blocks corresponding to every visual block in the first visual frame and estimate the vector displacement of respective corresponding visual blocks of the visual frames. Further, it goes to rebuild a visual frame, estimate the respective pixel values of respective corresponding visual blocks of the visual frames at a time point, combine the pixel values of visual blocks to create the rebuilt visual frame, apply a median-value-filtering procedure upon the rebuilt visual frame, and apply a spatial low-pass filtering procedure upon the rebuilt visual frame, which has undergone the previous procedure.

  • Publication number: 20050073822
Abstract: An EMI shielding assembly having a surface plate formed as a single unit with one or more wall components is disclosed. The surface plate of the shielding assembly is divided into different zones by the wall component. When the shielding assembly is mounted onto a circuit board, not only the electromagnetic waves generated by the electronic components installed within the area of different zones are prevented by the shielding of the surface plate from leaking outside, but also the aforementioned waves are isolated by the wall components that cross components EMI effect is prevented from happening. Therefore, the goal that not only prevent the electromagnetic wave generated by the electronic components on the circuit board from leaking outside, but also prevent the cross components EMI effects between the different electronic components installed on the same circuit board by a single unit shielding assembly is achieved.
