Abstract: A semiconductor packaging device comprises a carrier having at least a cavity or a slot thereon. At least a chip has a back surface and an active surface with a plurality of first bonding pads. The chip is affixed to the cavity to expose the active surface. A first insulating layer is on the active surface and the carrier, which comprises first plating through holes connected to first bonding pads and via the first insulating layer. A multi-layer structure is on the first insulating layer, which comprises conductive layout lines, second plating through holes therein, and a second insulating layer and exposed ball pads thereon. The first plating through holes are electrically connected with the conductive layout lines, the second plating through holes, and the exposed ball pads. A plurality of solder balls are affixed to the ball pads. Such architecture integrates the redistribution and fan-out process, which simplifies the conventional process for flip-chip ball grid array.

  • Publication number: 20030147374
Abstract: A method and a device for detecting a preamble type of a wireless data frame are provided The preamble has a synchronization (SYNC) field and a start frame delimiter (SFD) field, and the method comprises following steps. The wireless data frame is first received, and then determined whether the wireless data frame has a short preamble. When the wireless data frame has the short preamble, the wireless data frame is transmitted to a MAC device. In addition, if the wireless data frame does not have the short preamble, it determines whether the wireless data frame has a long preamble. When the wireless data frame has the long preamble, the wireless data frame is then transmitted to the MAC device.

  • Publication number: 20030093801
Abstract: Methods and systems for providing a video stream from a server to a client over a network include a memory for storing a forward-encoded bit-stream and a reverse-encoded bit-stream for a video data, The forward-encoded bit-stream includes I-frames encoded without inter-frame dependencies and P-frames encoded depending on forward-direction preceding frames, and the reverse-encoded bit-stream includes I-frames and P-frames encoded depending on reverse-direction preceding frames. When the server receives a request with a video cassette recoding (VCR) function from the client, the server reads out and transmits frames selectively from among the first, second, third, and fourth frames in accordance with the request. The server can select the closest I-frame to a requested frame in an either bit-stream for a fast-mode play or a random-access play, and switch the bit-streams to use subsequent P-frames in a different direction than that of the closest I-frame.

  • Publication number: 20030081676
Abstract: Methods and systems for transcoding a video sequence in a discrete cosine transform (DCT) domain, wherein a transcoder receives a video bit-stream including frames and each of the frames including blocks. The video bit-stream includes an intra-frame and an inter-frame that has been encoded by motion compensation based on the intra-frame or another inter-frame. A DCT-domain motion compensation module in the transcoder re-calculates first DCT coefficients for a target block in the inter-frame. For this re-calculation of the first DCT coefficients, the motion compensation module inputs second DCT coefficients of neighboring blocks in the inter-frame, and calculates partial DCT coefficients, using significant ones of the second DCT coefficients of the neighboring blocks.

  • Publication number: 20030079550
Abstract: In accordance with the present invention, an apparatus and a method for regulating exhaust pressure in an evacuation system of a semiconductor process chamber are provided. The method comprises steps of generating a first pressure in the semiconductor process chamber with the evacuation system, monitoring the first pressure to generate a first signal, determining a set point for the exhaust pressure responsive to the first signal, and regulating the exhaust pressure by a controller till reaching the set point. The key aspect of the present invention is to maintain the equilibrium of the chamber pressure and the exhaust pressure by implementing an exhaust controller to control the gas flow rate introduced into the evacuation system. In other words, when the chamber pressure is increased, the gas is introduced into the evacuation system at an increased flow rate. On the other hand, when the chamber pressure is decreased, the gas is introduced into the evacuation system at a decreased flow rate.

  • Publication number: 20030077582
Abstract: This invention pertains to the discovery that an amplification of some genes or an increase in that gene activity and a deletion of some genes or a decrease in that gene activity is a marker for the presence of, progression of, or predisposition to, a cancer (e.g., breast cancer). Using this information, this invention provides methods of detecting a predisposition to cancer in an animal. The methods involve (i) providing a biological sample from an animal (e.g. a human patient); (ii) detecting the level of the genes of the present invention within the biological sample; and (iii) comparing the level of one or more of said genes with a level of one or more of said genes in a control sample taken from a normal, cancer-free tissue.

  • Patent number: 6527773
Abstract: A dowel insertion tool includes a T-shaped handle and a hollow sleeve which extends distally from the T-shaped handle. A shaft extends from the handle through the hollow sleeve and includes a transverse extension. A rotatable knob having an annular channel positioned to receive the transverse extension is supported adjacent the handle. A pin is secured to the knob and extends into a helical camming channel formed in the sleeve. Upon rotation of the knob, the pin moves within the camming channel to move the knob longitudinally about the sleeve. Movement of the knob effects longitudinal movement of the shaft. A support plate is secured to the distal end of the shaft. A pair of prongs are slidably secured to the plate. Each of the prongs includes an enlarged head portion which is slidably positioned within a slot formed in the plate. A guide member is secured to the distal end of the sleeve. The guide member includes a pair of guide bores dimensioned to receive a distal end of the prongs.
