  • Publication number: 20080137186
Abstract: Disclosed herein is a symmetrical projection screen. The screen includes a front screen member and a rear screen member. The front and rear screen members are made of a hard material, such as metal, or a hard film. Between the front and rear screen members is disposed a shock-absorbing member. The shock-absorbing member is made of a soft film having physical properties and material quality different from those of the front and rear screen members, such as compressed sponge, plastic foam, or poly vinyl chloride (PVC). The front screen member and the rear screen member are arranged in a front-and-rear symmetrical structure about the shock-absorbing member. Consequently, the deformation factors, such as external pressure or the change in the weather, are extinguished or cut off by the shock-absorbing member, whereby the flatness of the screen is maintained.

  • Patent number: 7386733
Abstract: An alert transmission apparatus for a policy-based intrusion detection and response has a central policy server (CPS) and an intrusion detection and response system (IDRS). In the CPS, a policy management tool generates security policy information and then stores the generated security policy information in a policy repository. A COPS-IDR server sends the information to the IDRS and an IDMEF-XML-type alert transmission message to a high-level module. An IDMEF-XML message parsing and translation module stores a parsed and translated IDMEF-XML-type alert transmission message in an alert DB or provides the message to an alert viewer. In the IDRS, a COPS-IDR client generates the IDMEF-XML-type alert transmission message and provides the message to the CPS. An intrusion detection module detects an intrusion. An intrusion response module responds to the intrusion. An IDMEF-XML message building module generates an IDMEF-XML alert message and provides the message to the COPS-IDR client.

  • Patent number: 7386451
Abstract: A method is provided for optimizing an objective measure used to estimate mean opinion score or naturalness of synthesized speech from a speech synthesizer. The method includes using an objective measure that has components derived directly from textual information used to form synthesized utterances. The objective measure has a high correlation with mean opinion score such that a relationship can be formed between the objective measure and corresponding mean opinion score. The objective measure is altered to provide a different function of textual information derived from the utterances so as to improve the relationship between the scores of the objective measure and subjective ratings of the synthesized utterances.

  • Patent number: 7385364
Abstract: A system and method for determining the rotational speed of a motor, such as a three-phase disk drive motor, detects back electromotive force voltage generated during operation of the motor with an automatic pole calibration to minimize or eliminating variations in the wave of a freeze signal. A phase voltage at a winding is compared against a center tap (CT) voltage. Once the phase voltage falls to a specified voltage level, a detect signal is generated. A predetermined time after the detect signal is generated, a freeze signal is generated for freezing at least the circuit associated with the winding.
