  • Patent number: 6626183
Abstract: A system for decorating nails, including fingernails and toenails, using rub-on or pressure sensitive art or decals. A transparent carrier sheet has a rub-on transfer art for positioning over a fingernail. By rubbing on the top surface of the carrier sheet, the rub-on transfer art is transferred to the fingernail. In one embodiment, a release sheet attached to the carrier sheet is used to hold the carrier sheet and attached rub-on transfer art in position over a fingernail, facilitating placement and transfer. In another embodiment, adhesive is used on the carrier sheet to hold the carrier sheet in position over the fingernail. In yet another embodiment, a tube structure is utilized and placed over the finger for holding in position over the fingernail the rub-on transfer art attached to the carrier sheet. The present invention permits fingernails to be decorated without the use of liquid nail polish, adhesives, or wet decals and, therefore, needs no time to dry and can be done quickly, neatly, and easily.

  • Publication number: 20030178040
Abstract: The present application relates to artificial nail tips, particularly artificial nail tips that have an attachment area with an axial curvature and two cutout portions which provide a comfortable and conforming fit to a variety of natural nails while maintaining structural integrity and minimizing damage to the natural nail. The axial curvature of the attachment area of the nail tips is of a single radius design. The cutout portions of the nail tips are on both sides of the attachment portion of the nail tips, leaving a center attachment area narrower and thinner than the remaining nail tip. The attachment area of the nail tip is in a shape that allows for conformation to all natural nails, regardless of the length or curvature of the natural nail while maintaining the strength of the natural nail and minimizing damage to the natural nail. The shape of the attachment area of the nail tip allows it to deform to the natural nail without losing structural integrity.

Abstract: A method of placing photographs, pictures, or lithographs on fingernails. The nail is measured, the picture is scanned into a computer, resized to fit the selected nail size and the image is printed. A substrate is applied to the film side of the printed paper sealing the ink and providing a colored backing. Then, a second coating is added which shields the image from damage during processing. The film is separated from the paper backing. A sealant is applied to the film on the opposite side of the image, followed by a covering that guards against wear when the picture is placed on the user's nail. The image is then punched out and an adhesive is applied to the original (printed) side. Finally, the product's adhesive side is applied to the fingernail, followed by at least one coat of clear nail polish that further secures the image to the nail.
