  • Publication number: 20080223383
Abstract: A device for comfortably holding, immobilizing, separating and steadying the fingers of a person during a manicure who has suffered a debilitating disease, stroke or accident resulting in trembling, disfigured or paralyzed fingers and hands. The device includes a casing formed from a compressible material such as a foam type disc having rounded ridges about the exterior side edges, and narrow slots cut into the concave portions of the outer rounded ridges. All five fingers of one's hand can be inserted into the slots so that the walls of the slots expand and compress about the fingers locking the device to the hand. The device allows for any size and shaped fingers. The device allows for the hands and fingers to fold inwardly. A second version has an attachment strap that wraps about the exterior of the disc closing off the slots and further locking the finger to the disc.

Abstract: The present invention is directed to a method of fashioning artificial nails having colorful patterns by applying a first layer of a first colored polymer to a natural or artificial fingernail. Portions of the first polymer are scraped off with a gouge to create a defined border. A second application of acrylic powder of a second color is applied along the border defined above so that the second application is substantially an extension of the first colored polymer. In a further embodiment, portions of the second color can also be scraped off with gouge to define a second edge, in order to form additional patterns. A system is created for fashioning artificial nails having colorful patterns comprising an elongated gouge having a handle end and a fashioning end. The fashioning end has an end that has a width and curvature that generally corresponds to the width and contour of the nail. In a further embodiment, the system has several gouges having different shaped ends to create different patterns.

Abstract: An artificial fingernail comprises a body having a base portion extending from a rear edge to a tip portion which extends to a front edge. The base portion is configured to cover only the tip portion of a natural nail and has a crescent shape such that the body at the first and second sides extends distal of a portion of the body at the base edge between the first and second sides. In one embodiment, an artificial nail has a substantially transparent base portion through which the tip of a natural nail may be viewed. The artificial fingernail has a substantially opaque tip portion which includes one or more decorative elements. In one embodiment, the artificial nail has a tapered rear edge. A tapered area or extension defines a terminus of the base portion for use in aligning the artificial nail over a natural nail.

Abstract: Unless the nail exposure window of the finger protection sheath is strictly adjusted, the enamel-coated nail portion only is not brought into contact with the spongy member, and the enamel is not reliably and selectively wiped off without hurting the skin. Further, the finger protection sheath does not easily turn unless a large moment of turn is given thereto. The lower rotary shaft of the finger protector sheath of nearly a hollow cylindrical shape is deflected from the finger axis or the center line of the cone in a manner that they meet at &thgr;, enabling the outer diameter portion of the enamel-coated nail surface to be turned like a fan maintaining a radius R(=r+&Dgr;r) larger than the radius r of the prior art as viewed on a plan view to increase the moment of turn. The nail exposure portion is provided with an automatic cover to thereby also contrive an installation-type device for removing enamel from a multiplicity of nails and a device for removing enamel from the pedicured nails.
