Abstract: Systems and methods for infusion of fluids using stored potential energy and a variable flow resistor. In one aspect of the present disclosure, there is provided an infusion device that includes a plunger situated within a vessel so as to define a chamber within which a volume of fluid can be accommodated between a downstream surface of the plunger and the vessel. The infusion device further includes an outflow path through which the fluid in the chamber can be dispensed upon displacement of the plunger by a force acting thereon. A variable flow resistor is situated within the outflow path and is configured to allow a substantially constant fluid flow rate from the vessel to be maintained as the force acting on the plunger decreases.

Abstract: A pressure regulator is capable of automatically regulating the inlet water pressure to a compressed air foam system (CAFS), thereby allowing direct connection between a high-pressure water source, such as a hydrant, and the CAFS. The pressure regulator includes an inlet, a valve that regulates flow from the inlet, and an annular piston that circumscribes the inlet and which is linked to the valve. The relative area of the inlet and the piston determine the maximum pressure that may be attained at the CAFS water inlet, due to pressure on the piston forcing the valve closed.

Abstract: A valve assembly (1) for measuring differential pressures in a fluid system where the valve assembly includes a differential pressure sensor (12) for registration of differential pressures, a first cavity (22) with a calibrating cone (10) displaceable between measuring and a zero point calibration/flushing position. The valve assembly (1) includes a valve body (7) with two connections (13, 14) and a second cavity (15) arranged with a safety valve cone (8) which protects the differential pressure sensor (12). The safety valve cone (8), by differential pressures higher than a dimensioned value, is moved in a direction towards the low pressure side and, as a result, a passage between high and low pressure side is opened, from one connection (13) to the other connection (14) via the second cavity (15) and via provided cavities (24) and recesses (25) in the safety valve cone (8), whereby a pressure equalizing occurs.

Abstract: A pressure reducing apparatus includes a body being equipped with a first side port through which a pressure fluid is supplied and a second side port through which the pressure fluid having been reduced in pressure is discharged. Further, a feedback passage is formed, which establishes communication between the second side port and a third diaphragm chamber that faces toward a pilot valve. Additionally, a pressure fluid that flows through the second side port is introduced through the feedback passage into the third diaphragm chamber, whereby a third diaphragm is pressed upwardly against an elastic force of a second spring into equilibrium.

Abstract: An example internal relief valve disclosed herein includes a relief valve seat coupled to a first end of the relief valve stem and to engage a first side of a sensing apparatus to prevent fluid flow between the first side of the sensing apparatus and a second side of the sensing apparatus when the internal relief valve is in a closed position. A bleed hole within a surface of the sensing apparatus and separate from the opening of the sensing apparatus is dimensioned to provide a controlled flow rate between the first side and the second side of the sensing apparatus when the internal relief valve is in an open position. A seal is disposed along a body of the relief valve stem upstream from the bleed hole and the valve seat to prevent fluid flow between the first side of the sensing apparatus and the second side of the sensing apparatus via the opening of the sensing apparatus when the relief valve is in the open position.

Abstract: An aircraft store ejector systems and subsystems thereof. Embodiments can include a two-reservoir re-pressurization system wherein a remote reservoir is used to maintain desired pressure in a local ejector reservoir. The system can include a release valve having a vent valve and valve piston. The release valve can control release of pressurized gas to a pitch control valve. The pitch control valve can be configured to distribute the pressurized gas between two or more ejector piston assemblies. One or more of the ejector piston assemblies can include multiple concentric piston stages and piston chambers, the piston chambers configured to contain a volume of gas. The ejector piston assemblies can be configured to compress the volume of gas within the piston chambers as the piston stages are extended out from the aircraft. Such compression can provide a return force to the piston stages.

Abstract: A gas regulating fitting that ensures simple manual operation is to be created. In particular, the device is to be capable of being switched both on and off in one operation. To that end, a microswitch (12) connected to an electronic control unit is arranged on the housing (1). The microswitch is operated when a tappet (10) arranged axially to the safety pilot valve (26) and the main valve (19) is manually operated. The electronic control unit thereby receives an electrical signal whereby the gas regulating fitting is activated in its switched-off state, and the gas flow flowing through the open safety pilot valve (26) is therefore ignited, whereas the holding current flowing to the thermoelectric safety pilot valve (26) is interrupted in the switched-on state of the gas regulating fitting, and the gas regulating fitting is therefore deactivated. The gas regulating fitting can be used to ignite and regulate a gas flow flowing to a burner.

Abstract: A process fluid regulator includes a regulator body having a fluid inlet and a fluid outlet connected by a fluid flow path. A control element is disposed within the fluid flow path, the control element cooperating with a seat to control fluid flow through the regulator body. An actuator is attached to the regulator body, the actuator providing force to move the control element relative to the seat. The actuator includes a housing and a diaphragm within the housing, the diaphragm dividing the actuator housing into an upper chamber and a lower chamber. A high pressure bleed valve is attached to the lower chamber to vent residual gas from the lower chamber, which creates additional volume for process liquid in the lower chamber. This additional volume improves effectiveness and response time of the process fluid regulator.

Abstract: A pressure-control valve includes a housing (110) and a valve assembly (115) at least partially disposed within the housing. The housing has a sidewall (112) defining a conduit connecting an inlet opening (116) and an outlet opening (118), wherein the housing has a pressure vent (119) extending through the sidewall. The valve assembly includes: a valve seat (140), a valve support (120), a slidable member (130), and a biasing member (150). The slidable member is reversibly slidable between an open position and a closed position. The closed position interrupts fluid communication through the conduit between the inlet opening and the outlet opening. The slidable member has an upstream effective cross-sectional area greater than its downstream effective cross-sectional area. Sealing members (137,139) forming seals between the slidable member and the sidewall, and a pressure vent is disposed between the seals. A biasing member (150) biases the valve assembly (155) toward the open position.

Abstract: Exemplary embodiments of a gas biased pressure regulator comprise a capsule subassembly and a regulator body. The regulator body is adapted to connect to a source of pressurized gas. The capsule subassembly is removably received within the regulator body and includes a capsule body and a piston. The piston is axially slidable between fluid release and fluid seal configurations. When the piston is in its fluid release configuration, an output chamber is placed in fluid communication with the source. When the piston is in its fluid seal configuration, the output chamber is sealed from fluid communication with the source. A pressurizable bias chamber within the capsule body contains a bias pressure urging the piston toward its fluid release configuration. Pressure from the source urges the piston toward its fluid seal configuration. The piston may also have a fluid charge configuration for facilitating the pressurization of the bias chamber.
