  • Patent number: 6805145
Abstract: A method and a regulating valve for maintaining a fluid pressure within a defined volume (3), and simultaneous registering of discharge of fluid from the volume as a result of leakage or consumption. The fluid is supplied from a pressure regulating valve (20) provided with a means (5-7, 22-26) which opens for the supply of fluid to the volume (3) when the pressure therein has sunk below a first value (P1), and which shuts off the fluid supply when the pressure in the volume (3) has achieved a preset second value (P2) which is substantially higher than the first value (P1). Thus, after each opening of the regulating valve (20) there occurs a distinct pressure increase at the valve outlet. This pressure increase is registered as a pressure pulse, and the frequency of delivered pressure pulses is monitored and utilised as a measure of occurring leakage and/or consumption of the supplied fluid.

  • Patent number: 6691735
Abstract: The current invention describes a pressure regulator for a gas burner that allows a consumer to make adjustments to the pressure regulator for differences in altitude as well as differences in the design and manufacturing tolerances of the pressure regulator from the manufacturer. Many traditional gas burners require a third party, with specialized equipment and training, to make corrective adjustments to the pressure to a gas burner after the burner is sold to the consumer. This pressure regulator incorporates a regulating curve into the pressure regulator, thus eliminating the need to remove the pressure regulator from the appliance and allowing the consumer himself to make the necessary adjustments to the burner without the assistance of a third party.

  • Patent number: 6568418
Abstract: The precision regulator connects to a high pressure fluid source and regulates the pressure to a downstream apparatus. If an overpressure occurs, it can be vented to atmosphere. An elongate control stem engages a supply seal assembly and a vent seal assembly and moves axially and past these seal assemblies to achieve regulation and venting. The set point of the regulator can be adjusted by rotation of an adjustment knob that adjusts the position of the elongate control stem relative to the supply seal assembly and the vent seal assembly. Regulation is achieved primarily by use of a sensor piston which transfers fluid pressure from a regulated port to the sensor piston which is opposed by a spring. Both the supply seal assembly and the vent seal assembly rely upon an o-ring and a seal ring to achieve a seal with the outside circumference of the control stem. The o-ring is compressed and distorted, thus exerting forces against the seal ring to achieve a better seal.

A knob is rotated from a normal “on” position to an off position and a collar pushes the end members together and pushes the valve member against the orifice. The knob is rotated to a flush or bypass position and the collar pulls the end members together and pulls the valve member away from the orifice. The inlet orifice and an inlet port are parts of a removeably mounted inlet member.

Abstract: A compressed gas regulator with integral flow meter is disclosed. The regulator includes pressure reducing section and a flow control section, as well as, a Bourdon tube gauge disposed within the protective surround of the regulator body to prevent physical damage to the gauge. The Bourdon tube is mounted on a gauge adapter that provides for rotation of the tube within the regulator body, yet maintaining a gas seal with the high pressure gas supply. The gauge adapter provides a means for fluidly communicating the high pressure level to the Bourdon tube, yet allowing rotation of the Bourdon tube for zeroing and calibration purposes. An indicator ring, also disposed within the regulator body, is mounted on the Bourdon tube so that the pressure level is readily ascertained by viewing the indicator ring through an aperture in the regulator body.

  • Patent number: 6039071
Abstract: When a valve body of a pressure-reducing valve is displaced in the direction indicated by the arrow B, a seal pad of a valve seal mechanism on the valve body abuts against a ridge on a seat, which enters the seal pad to provide a seal therebetween. When the ridge enters the seal pad by a distance, abutment surfaces of holders on the seat are held against the seal pad, preventing the ridge from entering the seal pad beyond the distance. The distance by which the ridge enters the seal pad is thus made constant. The ridge is spaced from the abutment surfaces by a groove, which communicates with a primary port through grooves between the holders, keeping a constant valve sealing area. The pressure-reducing valve which incorporates the valve seal mechanism has a constant quality level.
