First and second equipotential surfaces are provided on each end of the construct with potential differences which are equal and opposite being applied between the first and second pair of surfaces, respectively. A first line of each twisted pair is connected between the first equipotential surfaces and the other line of each twisted pair is connected between the second equipotential surfaces, resulting in substantial equal and opposite DC currents flowing in the lines of each twisted pair. The magnetometer is positioned within the twisted pair construct, preferably near the center thereof.

  • Patent number: 5113159
Abstract: A balanced mode transmission system (20) for use in a local area network includes at least one twisted pair of insulated metallic conductors (27--27) which at its end is connected through a transformer to a transmitting computer and to a receiving computer (48). Each pair of conductors adjacent to the transmitting end and optionally adjacent to the receiving end is provided with a longitudinal choke (56,57). Also, a longitudinally extending metallic wire (60) is included in the system and is connected possibly through a resistor to ground at each end. The combination of the longitudinal choke at least adjacent to the transmitting end and the longitudinally extending metallic wire is superbly effective in suppressing electromagnetic interference notwithstanding the absence of shielding.

  • Patent number: 5109140
Abstract: A cable for the transmission of audio frequency currents with reduced distortion has at least one pair of electrical conductors insulated from one another. A ferromagnetic foil is closely (less than one half millimeter) applied to the conductors. The ferromagnetic foil couples the equal and opposite external magnetic fields generated by the signal currents. This greatly reduces distortion due to the frequency-dependent magnetic effects on signal transmission.

Single phase transmission at reduced radiation may occur using three or four conductors spatially positioned, as viewed in a cross sectional plane, in a horizontal line or a rectangular array, respectively. Three phase transmission at reduced radiation may occur using five or six conductors spatially positioned in the corners of a rectangular array, with one conductor in the center, or a hexagonal array, respectively.

Abstract: The present invention identifies several configurations of conducting elements capable of storing extremely high magnetic fields for the purpose of energy storage or for other uses, wherein forces experienced by the conducting elements and the magnetic field pollution produced at locations away from the configuration are both significantly reduced over those which are present as a result of the generation of such high fields by currently proposed techniques. It is anticipated that the use of superconducting materials will both permit the attainment of such high fields and further permit such fields to be generated with vastly improved efficiency.
