Abstract: A packaging card holding a device, such as a refill for a pen, and a method for packaging such a device are provided. The card has a front panel, a center panel and a back panel. The center panel may be transposed with respect to the front panel and the back panel. The center panel includes information related to the device on the card. The center panel may be rotatable or may be transposed parallel to or perpendicular to lengths of the front panel and the back panel. Preferably, each of the front panel and the back panel have an aligned aperture for suspending the card from, for example, a display hook.

Abstract: A display package (95) for articles such as batteries includes a hollow display box in which one or more articles are secured, the box having an interconnected display face (16), end walls (22, 26) and back panel (20), and a hanging support panel (12) extending above the box and substantially coplanar with the back panel, a display window (C1) created in the display face by displacing into the hollow box a portion of the display face and a portion of the end wall, whereby the display face portion provides an internal partition (96) connecting the display face with said back panel.

Abstract: A composite film and vacuum skin package for packaging a product such as a fresh red meat is disclosed. The composite film is thermoformed and sealed under vacuum to a support member to completely enclose a product which is positioned on the support member. The composite film is a permeable film weakly bonded to an impermeable film, permitting the impermeable film to be peeled from the package while leaving the permeable film intact so that the fresh red meat product can bloom from a purplish color to a desirable red color upon exposure to oxygen. The permeable and impermeable films are fully peelable without the need for a migratable wax to enhance peelability.

Abstract: A storage page for a three-ring binder or the like has a plurality of three-dimensional cavities for storing and displaying three-dimensional objects. The storage page is constructed of a clear plastic material sufficiently rigid to maintain its shape. In a preferred embodiment, the three-dimensional cavities are defined by raised sections in the front sheet of the storage page, the raised sections generally defined by a planar wall parallel to the front sheet, and one or more walls normal thereto to form a three-dimensional pocket. The back sheet of the storage page includes identically shaped and mating indentations that cooperate with the three-dimensional pockets of the front sheet of the storage page to define the three-dimensional cavity. An opaque matte may be sandwiched between the front and back sheets of the storage page, the matte being used for backing or contrast, and also in a writing surface for labeling and other indicia the contents of the individual three-dimensional cavities.

Abstract: A front blister is formed with a forwardly extending bubble and a slot extending downwardly in an edge portion above the bubble. A backing card formed with upper, center and lower portions, is attached to the back of the blister at the upper and lower portions to close the back of the bubble. The center portion of the card comprises a closure panel, pivotable between an open position providing access to contents in the bubble and a closed position, and a locking tab extending upwardly therefrom, the locking tab being positioned for folding into and out of the slot and sized for an interference fit with the slot to releasably maintain the panel in a closed position. To initially open the package, the center portion is separated from the upper portion of the card along perforation lines formed in the card, and is pivoted away from the blister about a fold line at the junction with the lower portion of the card.

Abstract: A resealable blister-type package, and method for using the same for storing and transporting a sample collecting device that is used to gather a biological sample, are disclosed. The package includes a tray-like enclosure having two cavities therein, and a resealable cover that covers the openings to the cavities. A sample collecting device, such as a swab, is stored in one of the cavities. The resealable cover is opened to remove the swab to collect the sample, and the used swab is reinserted into the other cavity of the package. The cover is then reattached over the openings of the cavities to reseal the cavities so that the package is ready for storage and transport. The package can alternatively include only one cavity that is used to store the swab in its unused and used condition. A medium can be disposed in the cavity in which the used swab is stored, or in a separate cavity that is in communication with the used swab storage cavity by a breakable seal.

Abstract: An improved drug delivery kit and method of packaging the same. The method includes providing a tray having first and second recesses for receiving a drug delivery device and drug cartridge respectively, and an opening in the tray within the second recess, placing the drug delivery device in the first recess, covering the tray with a sealable material, sealing the material to the tray so as to create a seal around the first and second recesses, so as to isolate the first recess from the second recess, sterilising the tray, and inserting the drug cartridge through the opening and into second recess. The opening is sized such that insertion of the drug cartridge through the opening and into the second recess elastically stresses the tray and removal of the drug cartridge from the opening irreversibly deforms the tray, thereby creating a tamper-proof drug delivery kit.

Abstract: A package is disclosed containing a picture postcard and a utilitarian item, both the postcard and the telephone card bearing the same illustration. The package is of transparent plastic for simultaneous viewing of both the postcard and the utilitarian item. The postcard can be removed and mailed the same as any souvenir card and the utilitarian item can be separately employed and/or displayed.

Abstract: Methods, compositions, and compounds for modulating the activity of an endothelin peptide are provided. The methods use compositions that contain compounds of formula (I): ##STR1## where X and Y are selected from groups that include O, S, and NH; and Ar.sup.1, Ar.sup.2 and Ar.sup.3 are independently selected from substituted or unsubstituted groups that include 5 to 6 membered aryl groups and heteraryl groups that contain one or two heteroatom(s). The methods are effected by contacting endothelin receptors with one or more of the compounds or with compositions containing one or more of the compounds prior to, simultaneously with, or subsequent to contacting the receptors with an endothelin peptide.

Abstract: The packaging case comprises, when assembled, a back part (aback hanging board), a bottom part (a bottom cover), a front part (a front cover, a front hanging board), the boards and covers being formed continuously in this order and bordered by fold lines, and a side part (a side cover, a glue margin) continuously extending from each side edge of the front cover except the neighborhood of the front hanging board and bordered by fold lines. A window is formed in the front cover, and a hook hole is respectively punched in the front and the back hanging boards to make a single matching hook hole. In one side edge of the back hanging board, a U-shaped perforated tear portion is provided for tearing off a part of the side edge glued to a corresponding glue margin.

Abstract: A container for receiving an ink jet head cartridge is provided with a plate-shaped member and a container main body which forms a space to accommodate an ink jet head cartridge by being coupled with the plate-shaped member. The container main body has a wall section which does not contact the ink jet head cartridge and a recess portion which projects from the wall section toward the accommodating space to contact and support the ink jet head cartridge.

Abstract: A self-hanging and self-engaging display package includes a rear panel having an aperture formed therein and a front panel having an integrally formed tab. A plurality of display packages form a display package system for automatically forming a chain of a plurality of self-hanging display packages. The tab of a first display package releasably engages the aperture of a second adjacent display package as the first display package is pulled out of the shipping container.

Abstract: An improved pharmaceutical containment package is provided. The containment package includes a blister card disposed between a cover and a backing. At least one of the cover or the backing is a composite structure including a surface layer, a reinforcing fabric substrate layer in underlying relation to the surface layer and a layer of polymeric adhesive disposed between the surface layer and the reinforcing fabric substrate.

Abstract: A compartmentalized food and beverage package is disclosed which is sufficiently rigid to withstand typical loads occasioned by conventional shipping, yet minimizes materials and is highly functional. The present container is also capable of being stood upright on an edge thereof for consumer impact. These advantages are provided by a container comprising a generally rectangular tray having flanges defining recessed food receiving compartments. At least one of the compartments being of sufficient size to accommodate a beverage wherein the weight of the beverage permits the container to be stood upright on a base defined by the beverage compartment and the lower edge of the tray.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a shock absorbing component for packaging an article and for protecting the article during shipping. The component is foldable (preferably from a single sheet) for enclosing the article therein. The component comprises a first section for receiving a first surface of the article and a second section for receiving a second surface of the article. The first section having multiple nonlinear cuts or serrations such that upon placing the article between the first and second sections, the cuts allow the first section to deform and at least partially conform to the shape of the first surface of the article. The component may be disposed within and integrally formed with a shipping container having exterior protective walls. The component may further comprise spacer panels to separate the component from the exterior walls of the shipping container. Although the disclosed shipping container may have open ends, it desirably has ends completing the enclosure.

Abstract: The invention relates a combined sample dispenser and order form comprising a backing sheet that may be prepared from cardboard, and a generally planar retaining member, such as a clear plastic sheet, attached to the backing sheet along at least a portion thereof. The retaining member or plastic sheet defines a distention or pocket along a portion of its broad surface, that may contain samples of the product being dispensed, such as sample medications provided to physicians by pharmaceutical manufacturers. The invention is also useful for the sale of certain consumable items, including hardware, where the order form may be used by the consumer to directly request additional quantities of the product.

Abstract: A blister pack comprises a cover member (12) and a support member (22). The cover member (12) includes a distortional region (14) formed from a plurality of slits (16) therein. A saleable item is located between the cover member (12) and the support member (22). The slits (16) allow the cover member to distort to the size of the saleable item.

Abstract: A generally planar substantially rigid backing supports a transparent plastic blister on the front surface thereof. The blister defines an open rear portion and an encircling attachment flange. The lower edge of the attachment flange defines interleaved notches and tabs extending downwardly. The blister further defines a rib having an interior groove formed therein extending along each side and across the front portion of the blister. A generally planar support sheet formed of a rigid material defines a plurality of upwardly extending retainers having engagement apparatus formed therein. A cosmetic card formed of a decorative material defines a plurality of slots aligned with the retainers and is received upon the support sheet with the retainers passing through the slots. The retainers engage the to-be-packaged articles and secure them upon the cosmetic card. The support sheet includes a plurality of interleaved tabs and notches extending downwardly from the rear edge thereof.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for assembling a blister package. The apparatus includes a packaging jig having a plurality of perimeter locating pins that are arranged to extend around the perimeter of the package when assembled on the jig. In a first aspect, the jig also includes an interior locating pin positioned inwardly from the perimeter locating pins to register a blister and possibly an article during assembly. In a second aspect of the invention, the jig further includes a plurality of exterior locating pins positioned outwardly from the perimeter locating pins to register an article to be packaged during assembly. The blister package is assembled by sequentially positioning the display cards, blister, and article on the jig such that the locating pins register the various components.

Abstract: A blister package with a hole in it for hanging the package on a rod has a thin plastic front sheet attached to back and a raised receptacle or blister is formed in the plastic sheet sized to enclose an article. The plastic sheet further has a raised formation near each top corner on the front of the blister package. The raised formation is shaped to space the package from an adjacent package when hung on a rod and to resist getting caught on the top edge of an adjacent blister package if the package is rotated about the rod. The raised formation has a peak and sloping sides extending from the peak toward the edges of the package. The profile is generally smooth such that there are no ledges to catch on the top edge of an adjacent blister pack. The hole is located a first distance from the top edge of the blister package and each projection is spaced a second distance from the hole.

Abstract: A storage saver system (22) comprising a storage container (24) which includes a generally cylindrical shaped base (26) having a compartment (28) to hold at least one article (30) therein. A cover (32) extends over the compartment (28) of the base (26). A hinge (34) attaches the cover (32) to a top edge of the base (26). A structure (36) is for retaining the cover (32) in a closed position over the compartment (28), to keep the at least one article (30) within the compartment (28) of the base (26).

Abstract: A sampler device having an upper compartment layer; a lower compartment layer; a seal attaching the upper compartment layer to the lower compartment layer, wherein the upper and lower compartment layers and the seal form a compartment or compartments, for containing sample material; and a reinforcement layer for protecting the compartment. The present invention also relates to an easy, inexpensive and reliable method of packaging sample material.

Abstract: The invention comprises a disposable brush for scrubbing a human torso, including the back, while bathing. The brush comprises a handle having a hook at a first end, a receptacle at a second end and an elongated hand hold connecting the hook and the receptacle. The receptacle has a proximal end, a distal end, a central web having a first side and a second side and a pair of laterally spaced convex curved sidewalls connecting the first and second sides. The curved sidewalls terminate in a first head stop adjacent to proximal end. The central web has a head retaining tang protruding from the first side adjacent to distal end. The head comprises a scrubbing portion and a backing portion. The backing portion has a pair of laterally spaced internally concave curved depending wings and a connecting plate. The wings and connecting plate are adapted to slide over the handle central web and curved sidewalls and be retained by and between the stops and the tang.

Abstract: A hat display structure is shown to include an opaque substrate, a transparent layer connected to the substrate by snaps or the like at its edges, and a multi-piece frame, which, in turn, is snapped onto the layer. The transparent layer is formed to, in part, conform to the shape of an athletic hat or cap, with a bill, which has its crown folded in half, with the back half folded inwardly of the front half. Provision is also made in the layer for housing a plaque or the like in order designate or explain the significance of the hat or cap displayed.

Abstract: A thermoformed thermoplastic blister is connected to a backing card. The blister has a peripheral flange which is positioned adjacent the backing card, and a bubble which protrudes frontwardly from the flange. A catch is formed in the flange, and is deformed rearwardly through an opening in the card to extend downwardly. The plastic catch extends into a narrow slot on the bubble of another like package. The slot is approximately the same width as the catch and need be only slightly taller than the thickness of the flange. With this connection structure multiple packages may be supported one upon another. In addition, the packages will automatically link to one another when extracted from a shipping carton. The rearwardly protruding catch may be formed from the plastic flange alone, or may be formed together with a portion of the backing card for additional strength.

Abstract: A blister pack includes a frame defining at least one recessed compartment having an open side defining an opening for containing a product therein. A blister material covers the opening to removably seal the product in the compartment. An opener is supported by the frame over the opening with the opener being moveable to break the blister material and to remove the film to expose the product in the compartment for removal.

Abstract: A piece of transparent material has a hollow form extending away from a planar surface. The hollow form has a crown section and a bill section, both sections having a common bottom face. The inner dimensions of the crown section correspond to the outer dimensions of the crown when the back half of the crown is folded in back of the front half of the crown. The inner dimensions of the bill section correspond to the outer dimensions of the bill. A baseball style cap fits within the cavity formed by the crown section and the bill section. Backing material contacts the window piece against its rear surface and can be seen through the window piece. A frame holds the window piece, the backing material, and a rigid back piece together. The entire structure is mounted on a vertical surface such as a wall, for displaying the cap. A secondary display area below the hollow form is created by removing some of the backing material.

Abstract: A display package that includes a sheet backing divided into a plurality of sections, each configured to allow the sections to be severed individually or in groups from the rest of the backing and each is arranged relative to each other in rows and columns. Each section holds an item of merchandise, food or medicine within an associated plastic bubble or blister secured to the particular section. The bubbles or blisters are spaced apart from each other. The borders between adjacent sections are removably connected to each other along a relatively narrow region and separated from each other elsewhere by a relatively wide gap.

Abstract: A display device for displaying adjustable wrenches in which the adjustable gripping jaws of the wrench can be manipulated relative to a generally hexagonally shaped gripping protuberance formed on the backing sheet of the device without the necessity of removing the wrench from the display device. The gripping protuberance is formed interiorly of a shaped cavity which has the general shape of the head portion of the adjustable wrench and functions to closely receive the head portion of the wrench.

Abstract: A display pack having a rotatable security member includes a board and the rotatable security member wherein the board has a first hole and a second hole respectively defined therein and an inverted U-shaped frame extends perpendicularly from a front surface of the board with the second hole being located between two extending portions of the inverted U-shaped frame. The second hole has a toothed inner periphery and the rotatable security member includes a polygonal head and a shank which has a flange extending from a free end thereof and a toothed periphery defined in an outer periphery near the flange so that the rotatable security member is rotatably inserted into the second hole with the toothed inner periphery engaged with the toothed inner periphery. A ratchet tool is engaged with the rotatable security member and can be operated within a limited angle between the two extending portions of the frame.

Abstract: A greeting card and retaining tray assembly comprised of a greeting card constructed with a pair of foldable panels and having an inner gift receiving receptacle capable of retaining a gift such as a living plant, a bottle of wine, etc. to be presented to a recipient of the card. The receptacle may contain an inner liner enabling the retention of water. In this way, the greeting card serves not only to present a greeting, but also functions as a gift holder for a gift which may be given to the receiver, along with the greeting card. The greeting card and the tray both can be constructed of foldable paper stock material. Initially, flat sheets of paper or paperboard material are provided and folded into both the card and the tray. The tray is preferably triangularly shaped and holds the card in a standing upright position. Moreover, the tray provides room for additional gift items and/or other decorative items.

Abstract: A blister package is provided for display in a merchandising rack having a plurality of display enclosures of fixed cross-sectional dimension. The blister package provides a product-containing envelope of plastic material forming a cavity capable of displaying large size articles approaching the maximum dimensions of a display enclosure.

Abstract: A packaging assembly for an item to be displayed, such as a toy action figure, enables a prospective purchaser to manipulate the item by means of an external actuator. More specifically, the packaging assembly includes a housing having a plurality of walls which cooperate to define an interior space, and an actuator assembly for actuating a movement of the item within the packaging assembly. The actuator assembly includes an actuator element which is releasably coupled to the item wherein movement of the actuator element causes a corresponding movement of the item to be displayed. A portion of the actuator element is accessible through an opening in one of the walls for movement of the actuator element. In a preferred embodiment, the housing includes a rear wall and a transparent blister which is mounted to the rear wall. The blister and rear wall cooperate to form an interior space in which the item is received.

Abstract: A package material for accommodating a container cartridge provided with an ink supply portion integral with a recording head in use includes a package material for accommodating the container cartridge, provided with opening means for permitting opening of the package material; a sealing material for sealing an ink supply portion of the container cartridge; wherein the sealing member is at least partly mounted to the package material.

Abstract: A food package comprising a rigid plastic base tray having at least three compartments, the tray being covered by a flexible film which is airtightly sealed to flanges of the tray to airtightly or hermetically seal the respective compartments. A label structure integrally associated with the flexible film has opaque areas for label information and transparent areas for viewing the product. The label structure may be formed by separate pressure sensitive labels, by printing on the flexible film itself or by a shrink wrapped band with printing thereon. A structure associated with the bottom of the tray may provide rigidity, protect the bottom of the tray, provide an additional area for commercial information and/or provide a stand-up feature. The materials of the package may be selected to maximize recyclability.

Abstract: A display card for holding an item, wherein the item has an integral hinge joining a pair of molded item halves, each defining an interior surface, that are foldable along the hinge, wherein the card includes a bottom edge and an extended portion, contiguous with the bottom edge, configured for engaging the interior surface of one of the item halves when the item halves are folded together. In one embodiment, the integral hinge includes first and second hinge portions separated by a slot, and the extended portion includes a projection that is insertable through the slot. An aperture in the projection receives a post extending from the interior surface of one of the item halves. In other embodiments, the extended portion is insertable into a slot that is parallel to, or collinear with, the integral hinge, the extended portion including laterally-extending fingers that engage the interior of the item halves adjacent the ends of the slot.

Abstract: A self-hanging and self-engaging display package includes a rear panel having an aperture formed therein and a front panel having an integrally formed tab. A plurality of display packages form a display package system for automatically forming a chain of a plurality of self-hanging display packages. The tab of a first display package releasably engages the aperture of a second adjacent display package as the first display package is pulled out of the shipping container.

Abstract: A package for plastic bags in a roll includes a container/dispenser in the general form of an upright cylinder of clear semi-rigid plastic having two halves hinged about a diametrical edge at the bottom of the container. Feet are formed in the bottom wall, extending transverse to the hinge and cooperating with the hinge to provide a base support so that the package may be stored and displayed in an upright position. An elongated recess is formed in the cylindrical wall of the container, with a die-cut strip. Bags may be dispensed through the opening formed when the strip is removed. A printed insert is located inside the clear sidewall of the containers for displaying product and brand identification information to the consumer.

Abstract: A display package for an article includes a front and a rear panel having respective peripheral portions secured to one another in an operative condition of the package. At least the front panel is provided with a recess constituting, together with a juxtaposed portion of the rear panel, a compartment for accommodating the article therein with substantially no movement therein in the operative condition of the package. A holding element is also substantially immovably received in the compartment and extends across a corresponding portion of the article remotely from the rear panel to confine the article between itself and the rear panel. The holding element is substantially rigid, and each of the front panel and the holding element is of a transparent material.

Abstract: A package for a film cartridge comprises a paperboard carton and a wrapper. A main body of the wrapper is housed in a film cartridge housing part of the carton. A sealing part is held between two pieces of paperboard forming a hanging part. A tongue-shaped tab is formed at a sealing part in a direction in which the wrapper extends. The tab projects toward outside from an aperture which is formed at the hanging part. Tear lines 32, 32 are formed on a rear wall of the carton. When the tab is pulled in a tear-out direction, the film cartridge housing part is torn out along the tear lines, and the main body of the wrapper is also torn out at the same time.

Abstract: An interactive packaging system is disclosed which is designed to securely support therein a product yet enable a potential purchaser thereof direct visual and tactile access to the product without the need to open the packaging. Additionally, the package includes a compartment and associated retention arrangement within which supplemental package of supplies or the like may be positioned.

Abstract: A plant package for a live plant having a stem, roots and rooting medium surrounding the roots. The package comprises a self-supporting, light transmissive, sealed polymer shell having an internal surface defining a package interior. A shelf is provided on the internal surface, and defines first and second interior compartments for containing the roots and stem, respectively. An inner container is provided for the roots and rooting medium, and an outer container engaged with the internal surface is provided for the inner container. A divider is engaged with the stem and inner container and assists with the maintenance of the roots and rooting medium within the inner container.

Abstract: A unique, multi-purpose, reusable and disposable product holding and displaying container system is achieved by providing a base member which incorporates locking means and a product display member which comprises a product holding zone and locking means constructed for rapid engagement and disengagement with the locking means of the base member. In the preferred embodiment, the product holding and displaying container system is formed from thermoformed or vacuum-formed plastic material, and is constructed to hold any desired product, particularly, baked goods and rack or hook display items. In one embodiment, the container system is constructed for being completely separated from any support panel, thereby providing a container which is easily reused for product storage until the product is fully consumed.

Abstract: The blister pack comprises a base portion and a cover layer. The base portion comprises a hollow chamber that contains a soft hydrophilic contact lens and a sterile aqueous preserving solution, and a substantially flat flange that extends right round the outside of the hollow chamber. The cover layer is releasably sealed to the flange in a sealing zone that extends right round the circumference of the hollow chamber. The flange comprises a grip region that extends from one side of the hollow chamber beyond the sealing zone and is covered by a corresponding grip region of the cover layer but is not sealed thereto.

Abstract: A blister package for displaying loose product having a backing sheet and a transparent plastic cover having a flange for connection to the backing sheet. An insert having a shape partly complimentary to a portion of the plastic cover is positioned inside and adjacent the plastic cover and maintained in position. The plastic cover is a predetermined distance away from the backing sheet to define a storage space to accommodate loose product in the storage space visible through the plastic cover.

Abstract: A foldable device for keeping and displaying a shearing tool comprises a transparent top piece, a transparent bottom piece, and a connection piece located between the top piece and the bottom piece. The top piece is provided with a recessed receiving slot having a predetermined shape for holding the blades and the pivoting portion of the shearing tool such that the shearing tool can be tested without being removed from the device.
