  • Patent number: 7780032
Abstract: A fuel cap of the invention has a pressure regulating valve, which includes a positive pressure valve and a negative pressure valve. The positive pressure valve has a positive pressure valve plug and a first spring, whereas the negative pressure valve has a negative pressure valve plug and a second spring. A valve support member is located in the upstream of the negative pressure valve to support the positive pressure valve plug. A tubular body is integrally formed with the valve support member. The tubular body eliminates the turbulence of the inflow of the air current and leads the laminar air flow into the negative pressure valve in its open position. This arrangement of the invention effectively increases the maximum flow rate of the negative pressure valve in the open position.

Abstract: A fuel cap includes a spring stopper mechanism to lock a first spring included in a pressure regulating valve of the fuel cap. A spring stopper mechanism includes stopper support members that are formed along an inner circumference of a valve chest formation-member, and a spring support member that is held by the stopper support members and supports an upper end of the first spring. The spring support member is pressed down in an axial direction of the fuel cap against a pressing force of the spring. The spring support member at the pressed-down position is rotated relative to the stopper support members by a preset angle. The spring support member is then pressed against the stopper support members by the pressing force of the spring and is fixed by mating lock elements. This arrangement facilitates assembly of a pressure regulating valve and ensures sufficiently high assembly strength.

Abstract: Devices and a method for releasing gas in a container after closing and sealing to pressurize and/or prevent or counteract buckling thereof, and or provide structural rigidity and strength thereto and or release components. The method introduces a reactive agent into the container after filling and before sealing. The reactive agent is controlled to react to provide a gas and optionally components, which a) provides a positive pressure to prevent or counteract buckling and provide structural rigidity to the container, and b) and or changes the state or characteristics of the headspace and or contents of the closed container. The devices include a closure, a cap and a container. The reactive agent is brought to chemical reaction by moistening, heating, catalyst and the like. The closure includes the reactive agent and is disposed in the container. The external trigger is a device that emits energy that provides heat to the reactive agent to stimulate the chemical reaction.

Abstract: A closure with a flexible diaphragm that equalizes the internal pressure of a container to the external pressure. The closure may include an inner member having a generally cylindrical wall. The cylindrical wall may include internal threads capable of engaging with external threads of the container. The closure may also include an outer member including a generally circular cap body and an annular ring extending downward from the edges of the cap body. The annular ring shrouds at least a portion of the cylindrical wall. A flexible diaphragm may be operatively attached to the top of the cylindrical wall and spaced apart from the cap body. The flexible diaphragm deflects in response to the internal pressure of the container.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a closure or cap for a container containing a fluid. The closure or cap is characterized in that the slotted structure comprises several pivoting plates hinged to the body in such a way as to be able to pivot; at least one pivoting plate, preferably each pivoting plate, being connected movably to a neighbouring pivoting plate via a cross section of more flexible deformation than the several pivoting plates, which forms one of the free terminal edges of the slot or slots and is, in a condition of actuation without overpressure inside the container, arranged basically contiguously with the other free terminal edge situated opposite the slot or slots and can open by pivoting away from the inside of the container when the fluid generates increased pressure inside the container, whereupon it moves away from the other free terminal edge.

Abstract: A spill-resistant container having an open upper end that is maintained closed by a cover of flexible, elastic fabric, providing for quick, comfortable access to the containers contents. The cover is comprised of two overlapping pieces of elasticized fabric which may be easily pushed aside by a person's fingers reaching inside the container to access solid items therein. Once the person's hand is withdrawn from the opening, the two pieces of fabric snap shut, returning to their original overlapping positions and thereby closing the open end of the receptacle. Furthermore, the cover is detachably connected to the receptacle to permit cleaning and refilling of the receptacle.

Abstract: A closure construction of the present invention includes a container with male threading on the neck thereof with a pair of locking notches. The cap includes a pair of split arcuate walls with partial threading thereon, which provides, in cooperation with each other, a threaded connection between the cap and the male threading disposed thereby releasably securing the cap to the container. A pair of protrusions are connected to and emanate inwardly from the inner surface of the outer wall. The pair of protrusions are releasably respectively seated in the pair of locking notches when the cap is threaded past a predetermined point onto the neck of the container. When the cap is squeezed in a direction generally perpendicular to a line running through the protrusions, the protrusions lift out of their respective locking notches to permit the cap to be unthreaded from the container.
