Abstract: A single piece sealing lid is made of a soft, flexible material that allows the lid to cover and reseal an opened food can. The flexible lip seal may have such a length so as to allow it to seal against the outside circumference of the can, below the can lid ridge. Since the flexible lip of the sealing lid is flexible, it can accommodate cans of varying diameter and does not require the can opening to be perfectly round. Therefore, the sealing lid may fit damaged or out-of round can openings. A pull tab may be provided on the sealing lid to assist in the installation and removal of the sealing lid from a can.

A closure has a wall received over the container neck finish. The wall has a non-circular cross section corresponding to the non-circular cross section of the neck finish and at least one internal circumferentially extending engagement element in engagement with the external engagement element on the neck finish. The internal and/or external circumferentially extending engagement element has a shallow lead-in angle to enable press-fit of the closure onto the container neck finish and a steep back angle to retard removal of the closure from the neck finish. Rotation of the closure on the neck finish is prevented by the non-circular cross sections of the neck finish and the closure wall.

The lid includes a top portion and an annular side plate which extends downwardly from periphery of the top portion. The plate is formed with a hole. A top edge of the engagement plate stretches upwardly along the hole, so that the engagement plate is located in the hole. The plates are flexible. As such, the engagement plate can be pressed and bent inwardly when the lid covers a cup. The engagement plate would then engage with the rim flange of the cup so as to enhance engagement of the lid and the cup.

The groove is made out of flexible material such that the width of the opening widens to the thickness of the beverage can rim as pressure is applied to the sippy cup lid to snap over the rim.
