Abstract: A container comprising a snap-in closure disposed between an upper part and a lower part of the container, the snap-in closure having a relatively strong holding or locking force and able to be opened relatively easily. The snap-in closure comprises a snap-in tab constructed out of the wall of one part of the container and detached along three sides, with a snap-in key disposed at the upper free end of the said snap-in closure and able to engage in a coordinated snap-in slit at the opposite container part.

Abstract: A closure (5) suitable for mounting onto a container (80). A closure comprises a main closure (10) having a top portion (11) that has an aperture (32) therethrough and a skirt (12) depending downwardly from the top portion (11) that is attachable to the container. A sealing rib (16) extends inwardly from the inner surface of the main closure (10) and is adapted to form a seal with the end portion of the container (80). A spout (33) extends upwardly from the top portion (11) and defines a bore that is in fluid communication with the aperture (32) in the top portion (11). A plug (36) having radially outer surface is mounted to the spout (33). The closure further comprises a top cap (50) that is mountable to the spout and is relatively movable between a first position where the plug (36) seals an opening in the top cap (5) and at least a second position where the plug (36) is withdrawn from the opening.

Abstract: A closure is disclosed for a container. The container comprises a base and a peripheral wall. A rim forms an upper margin of the wall and surrounds an opening of the container. An external protrusion is formed integrally with and surrounds the rim. A portion of the closure is adapted to overlie the opening of the container. A skirt is formed integrally with the closure portion and is arranged to surround the rim when the closure is mounted to the container. The skirt comprises a first portion that is positionable adjacent to and to surround an external upper end of the rim. The skirt further comprises a second portion that is connected to the first portion at a connection and that extends downwardly therefrom to surround the rim below its upper end. The second portion also comprises an integrally formed first ledge located therewithin that is positionable to locate in interlocking engagement with the external protrusion.

Abstract: In one aspect, a waste container lid having a closure part and a cap part connected with a hinge, a releasable lock structure and at least one permanent lock structure is described. In another aspect, a waste container lid having first closure retention structure and a second closure retention structure that permits the cap to remain opened in a plurality of positions. Waste containers utilizing the caps seals are also described.

A container for smokeless tobacco comprises a lid and a corresponding bottom piece having an outside wall and at least one dividing wall extending between opposite sides of the outside wall and dividing the bottom piece into a plurality of compartments. Abstract: An easily closable and open able container system includes a number of features which facilitate easy opening and closing while maintaining a high seal, which will give a feedback to the user to let the user know that a seal is formed. A circumferentially inwardly disposed angled groove is formed on the inside the opening of a container. A complementary angled projection is formed on the circumferentially outwardly disposed surface of the lid for fitting into the circumferentially inwardly disposed angled groove formed on the inside the opening of a container.

Abstract: An all plastic container comprising the combination of injection molded pail and lid. The lid initially locks onto the container at upper and lower undercuts and seals thereto by virtue of an inverted U-shaped peripheral section. A tear line is formed in the lid skirt to facilitate removal of the lower lock. The upper lock is segmented so as to make removal of the lid easier once the lower lock is removed. Indicia on the lid shows where the gaps in the lock segments are located. The lower lock may also be segmented to provide drainage for overfill which comes out of the pail when the lid is first applied.

Abstract: A container lid which seals about a peripheral lip contacting a corresponding container is disclosed. A flexible material, such as a silicone rubber, thermoplastic elastomer, or the like, is attached to at least a peripheral lip formed in a flexible substrate, such as a flexible metal or plastic material, having a first and second surface. The peripheral lip includes notches or slots to create individual sections in the lip to allow inward and outward flexing of the sections. When fitted to a container, the coated flexible substrate forms a seal between the container and the container lid. Preferably, the flexible substrate is formed in such a way that it is bi-stable, thus capable of existing in either a convex or concave state. In one embodiment of the container lid the flexible substrate includes a plurality of grasping teeth (i.e., specialized flexing sections) distributed about the periphery of the flexible substrate.

In one advantageous form, the sidewall of the container has a uniform racetrack dimension from the bottom to proximate the top opening. Abstract: A disposable lid for a drinking cup includes a cover portion having a generally circular periphery and a sliding member that is configured to slidably fit into a trench in the cover portion. The trench extends downwardly from and longitudinally along a top surface of the cover portion, and has an open end at the periphery of the cover portion. The cover portion includes a drink opening on a bottom surface of the trench and adjacent to the periphery and a guide slot on the bottom surface of the trench. The sliding member includes a guide extending downwardly from a bottom surface of the sliding member so that the guide slidably fits into the guide slot on the bottom surface of the trench. The guide slot allows the sliding member to move between a first closed position and a second open position via the guide.

Abstract: The present invention relates to improvements related to sandwich packing to reduce costs and to make more practical and hygienic the consumption of food. The packing has a superior housing (2) and an inferior housing (3) coupled together by an inferior male lip (4) and a superior female lip (5) which are interrupted, but joined together, by a flexible fold (6). The inferior part (3) has a cut line (7) to allow its division in two parts (3A and 3B). When joined, the superior and inferior housings form a similar contour of a sandwich.

Abstract: A seal indication mechanism for a container assembly having a container and a lid is provided. The seal indication mechanism has a portion on the container and a portion on the lid that interface to indicate to a user that a seal has been achieved between the container and the lid. The seal indication mechanism provides an audible, tactile and visual indication to the user that the lid and container are sealed. The seal indication mechanism functions to indicate a range of sealed relative positions between the container and the lid throughout the usable life of the container assembly.

Abstract: Metal closure components and methods for making the same are provided. The closures may be formed from a metal sheet having a pre-formed polymer film adhered on at least one face. A circular blank may be cut from the sheet, such that the blank may have a circular “raw” cut edge unprotected by the polymer film. The metal blank may then be formed such that the cut edged may be embedded into the film.

Abstract: A disposable lid for a drinking cup includes a cover portion and a sliding member that is configured to slidably fit into a trench in the cover portion. The trench includes a drink opening on a floor of the trench and the sliding member is configured to cover and uncover the drink opening. In one embodiment, the sliding member includes side portions that extend longitudinally and upwardly from a central portion of the sliding member such that an outer edge of each side portion is located above the central portion of the sliding member. A gap width between the outer edges of the side portions of the sliding member is greater than a width of a mouth of the trench such that the side portions of the sliding member secure the siding member to the cover portion.

Abstract: A child-resistant package includes a container having an open mouth surrounded by a wall and a closure engagement element extending circumferentially part-way but not completely around the wall. The portion of the wall into which the engagement element does not extend is resiliently inwardly flexible. A closure has a base portion that engages an end of the container wall around the mouth and an engagement portion that engages the engagement element on the container wall. The portion of the container wall that is inwardly flexible permits manual engagement with the base portion of the closure to remove the closure from the container.

Abstract: A closure construction of the present invention includes a container with male threading on the neck thereof with a pair of locking notches. The cap includes a pair of split arcuate walls with partial threading thereon, which provides, in cooperation with each other, a threaded connection between the cap and the male threading disposed thereby releasably securing the cap to the container. A pair of protrusions are connected to and emanate inwardly from the inner surface of the outer wall. The pair of protrusions are releasably respectively seated in the pair of locking notches when the cap is threaded past a predetermined point onto the neck of the container. When the cap is squeezed in a direction generally perpendicular to a line running through the protrusions, the protrusions lift out of their respective locking notches to permit the cap to be unthreaded from the container.

The interior of the container is shaped so as to present its contents at a desirable viewing angle, the container intended to provide an unobstructed view through the viewing face. Abstract: A serving platter includes a main body and a shallow lid. The main body portion includes a top portion defining a serving area comprising a plurality of primary serving wells for receiving food items therein for presentation to a person for eating, and a bottom portion defining a substantially enclosed interior space. The top portion also defines a disposal opening configured to receive there through food waste for deposit into the substantially enclosed interior space. The top portion also includes a plurality of dividing walls that define and separate the primary serving wells. The shallow lid is configured to be removably coupled to the main body such that the lid is positioned above and extends over and seats off the serving area. Each dividing wall is engaged by the lid such that two serving wells are isolated from one another by a dividing wall engaged with the lid.

Abstract: A foodware set having a covered configuration and a serving configuration. The foodware set includes a container defining a cavity for receiving a comestible during use. The foodware set further includes a cover-base that functions as a cover for the cavity when the set is in the covered configuration and as a base for supporting the container in a manner that exposes the cavity and comestible when the set is in the serving configuration. In one embodiment, the cover-base includes a plurality of resilient fittings each having an integral latch for holdingly engaging the container and an integral foot for providing the set with slip-resistance when the foodware set is in its serving configuration and the set is resting on a relatively hard, smooth surface.

Abstract: A serving platter includes a rectangular, single molded piece having a top portion defining a serving area and a bottom portion. The top portion includes four primary serving wells and four secondary serving wells. The bottom portion defines an enclosed interior space, and the top portion defines a rounded opening centrally located relative to the serving area and configured to receive food waste for deposit into the interior space. The top portion includes four dividing walls defining and separating the four primary serving wells, each dividing wall extending generally linearly away from the rounded opening to an outer peripheral wall of the main body. The top portion further includes four partitioning walls, each partitioning wall extending between adjacent sides of the outer peripheral wall. Each serving well has a volume that is less than half of the volume of each primary serving well.

Abstract: A unitary capseal for a closure that is installed in a container includes an annular sidewall, a generally circular top panel joined to the sidewall, a snap-on annular rim formed adjacent a lower edge of the sidewall, and an annular sealing lip formed adjacent the annular rim. The cooperating closure includes a serrated flange, a closing plug for threaded receipt by the flange, and a sealing gasket positioned therewith. The container end is formed around the flange interlocking with the flange serrations and creating an outer annular channel that receives the annular rim for a snap-on assembly of the capseal to the container end that in turn positions the capseal over and around the closure. The sealing lip extends radially outwardly from the sidewall and includes a concave surface facing the container end for sealing off the interior portions of the closure from collecting debris.

Abstract: A packaging container according to the present invention is molded of a thin synthetic resin sheet. The outer peripheral edge of an opening of the packaging container 1, 18 has an outwardly extended flange 11. The outer peripheral edge 11a of the flange 11 is corrugated in the vertical or horizontal direction. By corrugating the outer peripheral edge 11a of the flange 11, the corrugated outer peripheral edge 11a can give a soft touch to user's hand or finger or a wrapping film contacting the same. As a result, user's hand or finger can be prevented from being hurt and the wrapping film can be prevented from being broken.

Abstract: A method for designing or producing a coffee container system includes the step of constructing a sample of a coffee container system, where the container system includes a main container, a lift-off top, and a seal mechanism for the opening between the lift-off top and the container. Thereafter, oxygen ingress into the container system is measured when the lift-off top is in place and the seal mechanism is in operation. A sealing effectiveness of the seal mechanism is then modified to achieve a desired oxygen ingress for the container system, so that container systems housing coffee and having the modified seal mechanism providing the desired oxygen ingress can be manufactured. In addition, a method for retarding oxygen ingress into coffee contained in a container system is provided by infusing the coffee with a high molecular weight gas compatible with the coffee during manufacture of the finished coffee container system.

Abstract: A container having a cup and a lid, which in turn includes locking features, wherein the lid engages in a secure relation to the cup, is disclosed. The invention disclosure also provides for embodiments having a lid that fits over an open end of a cup and a lid that fits inversely and inside the open end of a cup. The lid of the invention comprises at least one protruding annular ridge, allowing for secure placement on the cup when the cup is in motion. The lid fits in a complementary (positive/negative) relation to the protruding ridge(s) on the cup. This container is designed for the purpose of being in motion: while walking, driving, and all aspects of travel and carrying. Additional embodiments include novel spout designs for the cup portion and lid portion.

Abstract: A cover assembly for a paint can having a tubular cylindrical sidewall, an open top and an outwardly protruding rim around the open top and in which the rim has a downwardly facing angular surface. The cover assembly includes a lid dimensioned to overlie the open top of the paint can. The lid includes a spout for pouring paint from the paint can. At least two spaced apart resilient locking tabs are attached to the paint can which automatically engage the downwardly facing annular surface of the rim as the lid is positioned onto the top of the paint can thereby locking the lid to the paint can. A release lever attached to each locking tab enables the lid to be removed from the paint can when desired.

Abstract: A carrying case made of mating case sections with a principal seal and equipped with a latching device serving as part of a pressure relief valve for opening the interior of the carrying case to the atmosphere. The latch further includes a sealing means in contact with the external edge when the latch is opened to allow passage of air through the opening when the latching device is opened and the sealing means is no longer in contact with the external edge of the opening.

Abstract: A single-use, snap-over cap for use primarily in healthcare settings in order to maintain the integrity of a medication solution. The cap has a tapered cylindrical skirt, a puncture resistant lid portion, and one or more latch tabs. When placed onto a flanged injection port such as is found on a conventional fluid container, the latch tabs engage and flex about the port flange. After the cap is placed, the latch tabs engage the port flange to prevent upward axial movement relative to the port, thereby preventing removal of the cap and thus deterring unwanted or erroneous drug administrations or withdrawals.

Abstract: A universal lid closure for underground landscape boxes that universally adapts to all underground landscape box sizes by the design of flexible flaps Mat extend radially outwardly from their attachments to the lid body. The flaps are preferably of varying lengths and widths. A plurality of flexible flaps prevent accidental lid removal by exerting resilient force at a precise angle on the underground landscape box wall. A lid top is provided to enclose all box opening circumferences in each box class, and the flexible flaps are molded at a precise angle to horizontal to deter fatigue within the flexible flap.

The cup body is made of paper. One upper side of the cup cover near an edge thereof has handle. A trademark or advertisement design can be printed thereon. A surface of the cup cover is formed with wavelike shape so as to increase the strength of the cup cover. In an upper side of the annular recess, the cup body has an annular protruding portion so that the cup cover can be tightly engaged to the cup body.

Abstract: In certain embodiments, a system for ergonomically handling a container comprises a container body having a container wall with an inside surface defining an internal cavity configured to receive material and an opposite external surface. Additionally, the system includes a handle having opposite first and second ends coupled to the external surface of the container wall, the handle being able to rest alongside the external surface. The system further includes a finger pocket defined in the container wall and adapted for receiving at least a portion of at least one of a user's fingers to assist in handling the container.

Abstract: Multiple food storage systems are disclosed herein. One food storage system includes a main bowl that defines a first food receiving cavity. A secondary bowl is positioned in the first food receiving cavity and defines a second food receiving cavity. The secondary bowl includes a sidewall containing thermal energy storage material therein. A separate food storage system includes a main lid configured for use with a main bowl that defines a first food receiving cavity. A secondary bowl is positioned at least partially on and/or in the main lid. The secondary bowl includes a sidewall containing thermal energy storage material therein.

Abstract: A slow cooker for heating of food stuffs includes a housing having a base and a side wall extending therefrom to define a heating cavity within the housing. A heating element is disposed within the housing to heat the heating cavity. A container has a generally hollow interior and a container rim defining an opening for accessing the interior. The interior is capable of retaining the food stuffs therein. The container is shaped and sized to fit within the heating cavity of the housing for heating thereof by the heating element. A lid is sized and shaped to at least partially cover the opening of the container when placed on the container rim. The lid includes a handle. A utensil is included for manipulating the food stuffs. The utensil is removably engageable with the handle of the lid.

Abstract: A food container having a base (12) with a support surface (40) that supports a cardboard plate with a tall cake thereon, and a tall lid (14) that closes and opens over the base. The base has a rear end (22) with a vertical slot (50) and the lid has a rear end with a pivot connector that can be inserted down into the slot when the lid is in the pivoted-up position but that resists removal in the pivoted-down position. The base rear end that forms the slot lies on a raised platform (104) of the base that raises the slot above the level of the base front end (20), by at least ?rd the lid height, to cause the lid to move almost vertically as it clears the top front of the cake. The base support surface faces at a forward-upward incline angle to better display the cake through the transparent lid.

In another form, the closure is in the form of a stopper having a similar dispensing spout, the stopper being adapted to be located within the neck of a bottle-like container.

Abstract: A lidded container includes a container having an open top defined by an annular rim; and a lid having a central section and an outer rim attachable to the rim of the container. The annular rim of the lid includes an annular clamping section defined by spaced inner and outer walls for receiving the rim of the container in the space between the walls. The annular clamping section of the lid is integrally joined to the central section of the lid by an annular, elastically deformable juncture section effective to increase the clamping action of the lid clamping section with an increase in pressure within the container.

Activatable adhesive on the flange adheres the plug to the panel upon activation. The closure device further has an actuable means (260) for applying a force to the cover for deformation of the cover in such a way that it is deformable from one of the two operating positions into the other operating position.

Abstract: A molded plastic container, such as a five gallon pail, that includes a lid and main body that are selectively attachable to each other without a resilient gasket. The main body of the plastic container includes a flexible sealing finger formed along the top rim of the main body. The flexible sealing finger is received within a sealing chamber formed as part of the rim. The sealing chamber is defined by a gland seal such that when the lid is attached to the main body, both the flexible finger and the gland seal can deflect to create multiple sealing points between the flexible sealing finger and the sealing chamber. A latch ring is formed on the outer surface of the main body and engages a locking tab formed on the lid to hold the flexible finger in the sealing chamber.
