Abstract: In order to form a reliable, process-safe pressout- and twist-safe press-in connection between a joining element and a workpiece, the joining element is pressed with a shank region into a hole in the workpiece, with shank material of the shank region being pressed into a reception space between the shank region and the hole margin for this purpose, so as to make a frictional connection, without a positive form-lock connection which acts in the axial direction being made. As a result, it becomes possible to have a pressout-safe press-in connection without deformation of the hole, along with a level metal sheet underside, and without the formation of a fastening collar. The press-in connection is suitable particularly in the case of a combination of a low-strength joining element with a higher-strength metal sheet.

Abstract: In a block and tackle window balance, the balance shoe holds and upwardly biases the terminal connector in a mounted position. A biasing element of the shoe maintains the terminal connector in a pocket of the shoe during operation of the balance. The terminal connector is prevented from laterally exiting the pocket in the mounted position by a widened portion on the terminal connector and a locating surface extending from the shoe toward the pocket. Manually pressing down on the biasing element or the terminal connector itself to lower the terminal connector in the pocket until the widened portion clears the locating surface allows lateral removal of the terminal connector from the pocket. During operation of the balance, however, the terminal connector does not experience a sufficient downward force to overcome the upward bias such that the widened portion never clears the locating surface.
Abstract: A method of forming brush seal segments includes mounting a pair of full form plates having opposite arcuate edges in back-to-back relation and wrapping wire about the form plates in multiple passes to form wire runs at angles, e.g., 35-45° relative to radii of the arcuate edges. Half form plates are assembled to opposite sides of the full form plates adjacent one edge of the subassembly. The wire wrap adjacent the one edge of the full form plates is removed. Welds are applied between each adjacent half and full form plates. The inner edges of the wrapped wire and inner frame members of the full form plates are removed. The assembly is then separated to form a pair of arcuate brush seal segments.

Abstract: In a method for the production of a rim hole in hollow profiles, a tubular piece is pushed into the hollow profile and placed there in such a way that it coaxially surrounds the location of the rim hole to be produced. The hollow profile is then acted upon from outside to inside at this location by a tool, with the rim hole being formed. In order to make possible a rim hole in hollow profiles in a relatively simple manner, this rim hole also satisfying high strength requirements even in the case of a small wall thickness of the hollow profile, it is proposed to first punch two opposite holes out of the hollow profile. At least one of these holes has a diameter which is smaller than that of the rim hole to be produced. The tubular piece is then inserted into the hollow profile interior, so that it comes to lie there coaxially to the common axis of the holes.
