  • Patent number: 10112552
Abstract: A vision system of a vehicle includes a camera disposed at a vehicle windshield and viewing through the windshield and exterior of the vehicle. A light-absorbing hiding layer is established at the windshield at an area at which the camera is disposed and includes an portion established therethrough, with the portion aligned with the camera such that the camera views through the windshield via the portion. The portion comprises a wider central region and narrower upper and lower regions. The wider central region of the portion provides a wide angle field of view of the camera at a region ahead of the vehicle and the narrower lower region of the portion reduces the field of view at regions near to and sidewards from the front of the vehicle. An image processor is operable to process image data captured by the camera for a machine vision function or driver assistance system.

An image of a path of travel surface is captured by an image capture device. The image capture device is mounted on the vehicle and captures an image in a downward direction. The captured image captures the beam of light emitted on the path of travel surface. Analyzing a subsurface scattering of the light generated on the path of travel surface by a processor. A determination is made whether snow is present on the path of travel. A snow covered path of travel surface signal is generated in response to the identification of snow on the path of travel.

Abstract: A vehicle including a mobile computer retainer disposed directly forward of the operator's seat. The mobile computer retainer holds a mobile computer, which displays the vehicle operational data (speed, fuel remaining, etc.) of the vehicle operator's choosing to the vehicle operator. The mobile computer retainer allows the vehicle operator to customize the display of vehicle operational data, something that dashboard instrument clusters heretofore have not allowed. The vehicle operator can customize the display of vehicle operational data using a mobile device that the vehicle operator may use in his or her home. The mobile computer retainer can include at least one channel retaining member that at least partially surrounds the mobile computer. The mobile computer retainer can include retaining arms pivotally connected to a horizontal base that lock into a position retaining the mobile computer when the mobile computer is pressed down toward the horizontal base.

Abstract: Methods and systems for a complete vehicle ecosystem are provided. Specifically, systems that when taken alone, or together, provide an individual or group of individuals with an intuitive and comfortable vehicular environment. The present disclosure includes a system to create, modify, and maintain profiles associated with users. The user profiles are generated based on selectively collecting data associated with the users. Although each user profile may include settings, preferences, habits, and content associated with an individual user and/or vehicle, some user profiles may represent multiple users. These user profiles can change a configuration of a vehicle to match settings for a user, such as a driver and/or passenger. The configurations may also include the recognition of a unique set of gestures for a user. Further, the user profiles can be transferred from vehicle-to-vehicle and/or user-to-user.

Abstract: An actuator system which may incorporate a motor, a motor controller connected to the motor, a processor connected to the motor controller, and a switch connected to the processor for engaging the motor to open and close an actuator shaft. The switch may have a position which is a test mode. Selecting the position of test mode may cause the motor to move the actuator shaft to a certain position to verify operation of the actuator shaft. The actuator shaft may stay in the certain position while the switch is in a position of test mode. The system may also incorporate a spring attached to the actuator shaft. If power fails to the motor, then the actuator spring or another mechanism may return the actuator shaft to a fail safe position. The test mode may alternatively be selected at a controller via the communications bus to the processor.

Abstract: A backlight source for instrument includes a backlight source region and a pointer region. The backlight source region includes at least two sub-regions, each of which is provided with a backlight source independently. The pointer region is provided with an instrument pointer. When the instrument pointer is turned into one of the at least two sub-regions, the backlight source which corresponds to the sub-region emits light individually. Thus, the backlight source is saved and the energy consumption is reduced. Backlight sources corresponding to different sub-regions emit light of different colors, and the backlight sources of different colors are sequentially arranged according to warning degree and thus can have a warning function. Further, an operation method of backlight source for instrument and an instrument are further provided.

Abstract: Methods and systems pertaining to auto-generated repair-hints are described. A processor can compare terms identified on a repair order (RO) to a taxonomy term database to determine standard terms associated with the terms on the RO, to store the standard terms as meta-data associated with the RO, to select pre-drafted text strings with gaps, and to insert the meta-data into the text string gaps to create a complete text string that forms at least part of an auto-generated repair-hint. The processor can receive a set of standard search terms to search for the auto-generated repair-hint from among multiple repair-hints. The processor can cause the auto-generated repair-hint to be transmitted to a vehicle repair tool for displaying the auto-generated repair-hint. A machine including the processor can receive a set of non-standard search terms (NSST) and identify a set of standard search terms associated with the NSST.

Abstract: Each functional configuring unit of a leak inspection device (2000) operates in the manner that follows. A vibration acquisition unit (2020) acquires a signal indicating tubing vibrations or vibrations propagated from tubing. A filtering unit (2040) extracts a signal of a predetermined frequency band from the signal acquired by the vibration acquisition unit (2020). A characteristic value extraction unit (2060) splits the signal extracted by the filtering unit (2040) into predetermined time intervals, calculates for each split signal the absolute value of each extreme value of the magnitude of the signal, performs for each split signal a statistical process with respect to the calculated plurality of absolute values, and considers values calculated by the statistical process to be characteristic values.

Abstract: In a method for warning a vehicle driver of a risk of the vehicle overturning about its longitudinal axis, a control device detects the current transverse acceleration of the vehicle and emits a warning signal based thereon when a risk of overturning is presented. The warning signal is dependent upon at least one transverse acceleration value, which is critical for overturning, detected by the control device while the vehicle is being driven, and a measurement of the transverse acceleration of the vehicle at which the vehicle would actually overturn about its longitudinal axis. The transverse acceleration value that is critical for overturning is determined automatically based on the vehicle behavior exhibited during driving on a curve.
