The sign includes a tube-like housing in which lenses and apertures can be disposed. The light exiting a light source is emitted via an emitting surface, by way of which an illuminated traffic sign results from interacting with further display elements. Abstract: A lighting system for an indoor room or space is designed to provide a diffuse, glare free source that illuminates the room from the cornice, or a similar location around the join between the walls and ceiling. This may be achieved via a direct source of illumination at the cornice location, or by projecting illumination from a remote source. The lighting system is further designed to allow for illumination of certain areas of the cornice, and hence the room, whilst leaving other parts dark. There are multiple advantages of an adaptable system such as this, but in particular the lighting conditions can be adjusted for optimum lighting levels, for example dimming selected areas when viewing a television.

Abstract: The disclosed pan-tilt spotlight is a sealed, remote controlled unit which allows continuous 360° rotation (pan) of visible or infrared (IR) light sources as well as vertical (tilt) aiming of the light sources 65° above horizontal and 25° below horizontal. The light sources are solid state (LEDs) which are energy efficient and extremely durable in the field, requiring little maintenance. Light shields are employed to control stray light, thereby enhancing the stealth of the spotlight in covert operations. The rotating parts of the spotlight are supported at several locations spaced from the axis of rotation in a manner that re-directs forces that would otherwise be carried by the shaft. Temperature sensitive current regulators and robust thermal design protect the LEDs from heat damage. Sophisticated motor control allows fast and precise positioning of the light beam and worm final drive gears keep the light beam in position.
